So you may be wondering what to buy during the sale. I recommend picking up beauty tools that you’ve had on your wish list or staples.

PR + purchased by me.

Sephora VIB  Sale Beauty Tools

Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X – $449
The Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X can be used to help remove unwanted body hair from your underarms, legs and elsewhere around the body.

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer – $399
Not gonna lie, I keep looking at the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer. I hate how long it takes to blow dry my hair when I need to dry it fast (I prefer to air dry normally). It’s supposed to dry hair my length in 4 minutes or so.

Foreo Luna Mini 2 – $139
The Foreo Luna Mini 2 is awesome for sensitive skin. It’s my favorite facial device of all the ones I’ve tried, and I’ve tried many. It holds its charge forever, too.

Amika Polished Perfection Straightening Brush – $120
The Amika Polished Perfection Straightening Brush looks like it would be great for straightening hair.

Sephora VIB Staples

Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation – $35
The Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation has an amazing shade range. While it tends to work best for normal to oily skin, if you have dry skin like mine you can make it work with Nyx Pro Foundation Mixer in Opalescent. (See how to make Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation work for dry skin)(v)

Urban Decay Setting Spray in ChillAll Nighter, or De-Slick – $31
If you have dry skin, you may want to grab Urban Decay Setting Spray in Chill. If you’re normal you want All Nighter. If you’re oily you want De-Slick.

Urban Decay Afterglow Blushes – $26
The Urban Decay Afterglow Blushes are my go-to blushes. Rapture, Bittersweet, Score and Fetish are some of my favorite shades. (See my cheek swatches)

Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Creme – $26
The Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Creme is my all-time favorite concealer. I regularly use White Out, L1 and L3. (See my review)(v)

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara – $22
If you need to stock up on mascara, grab UD Perversion! The blackest black lashes will be yours. (See my results)

Too Faced Shadow Insurance – $20
Too Faced Shadow Insurance is my go-to eyeshadow primer. It works for me 100% of the time.

Urban Decay 24/7 Lip Pencils – $20
The Urban Decay 24/7 lip pencils are a staple for me. Pick a light lip pencil, a red lip pencil, and a black lip pencil to expand your lipstick wardrobe. (See swatches)

Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liner – $18
The Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liner is so creamy and pigmented. It also comes in all kinds of unusual shades too. If you’re looking for the perfect purple, blue or green liners, try these. (v)

Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks – $17
The UD Vice Lipsticks are my go-to lipsticks because of their comfortable formula and the wide range of shades available. (See some swatches)

Fun Palettes

Natasha Denona 28 Eyeshadow Palette – $239
If you would use all 28 shades in the Natasha Denona 28 eyeshadow palette, it’s worthwhile. I would not buy this unless you’re going to use 20 or more of the shades in it. I bought the Purple Blue, which should be called the Brown, Purple and Blue palette because it as a lot of neutrals in it. There’s also a Green Brown palette. (See my review)

Viseart Eyeshadow Palette – $80
The Viseart Eyeshadow Palettes come in bolds like the Bright Editorial or in demure mattes like the Neutral Matte or Cool Mattes. (See my Bright Editorial review)

Tarte Tarteist Pro Amazonian Clay Palette – $53
Many of my friends swear that this is the greatest palette ever. While I’m not a fan of the thinner eyeshadow formula, the colors are very nice. (See my review)

Urban Decay Moondust Palette – $49
I love the Moondust eyeshadows and this palette is awesome! It’s a companion palette. You layer these colors on top of other shades to create multidimensional eye looks. (See swatches)

Natasha Denona 5 Color Palettes – $48
The Natasha Denona 5 Color Palettes contain 5 colors (as the name implies) that are complimentary. There are like 13 different versions.

Viseart Theory Palette – $45
The Viseart Theory Palette in Amethyst has been on my wish list for weeks! It’s so gorgeous.

Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Palette – $40
I can’t help but think the Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Palette is adorable. It’s unicorn inspired. Half the shades are fun, half the shades are neutrals.

Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette – $32
The Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette is a ton of fun. Layer it on top of eyeshadows, lipsticks, blushes and even nail polish to create multi-dimensional, glowy looks. (See my review with the Pastel Goth) (v)

Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette – $32
The Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette is already marked down at Sephora, so getting it for 10% or 15% on top of that would be a steal. (See my swatches)

Smashbox Bold Cover Shot Palette – $29
I bought the Smashbox Bold Cover Shot Palette quite a while ago! It’s a gorgeous bright palette.

Neutral Palettes

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette – $54
If rosy neutrals are your thing, the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette should be on your list. (See my review)

Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics – $54
This all matte palette is fabulous for hooded eyes. (See my review)

Stila Eyes are the Window Mind Palette – $49
The Stila Eyes are the Window Mind Palette is a large palette with 12 different matte eyeshadows. Each eyeshadow is pretty large. I’ll be reviewing this one soon.

Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette – $49
The Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette is another rosy hued palette. Almond Truffle, Cashew Chew, Totally Fetch and Cotton Candy are my favorites in it. (See my comparison to the Semi-Sweet)

Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Palette – $48
The Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Palette is a great neutral palette with warm, neutral and cool quads.  (See my review)

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance – $42
The Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette is one of the best neutral palettes with nudes, pinks, and reds. I love Buon Fresco especially. (See my review)

Urban Decay Naked Basics – $29
The Urban Decay Naked Basics has been a staple for me for a long time. I’m on my 2nd one of these. (See my review)

Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Quads – $22
The Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Quads are available in 4 colors. I originally bought all 4 and returned 3, keeping only Plum. Since then I’ve been gifted Rust. I recently bought Smoke to give it a try again. (See my original review)

If I were new to makeup and shopping the sale as a makeup beginner, I would pick up one of the neutral palettes, probably the Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Palette. I’d grab a fun palette, like the Urban Decay  Full Spectrum Palette or Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette. I’d grab a versatile blush shade like Urban Decay Score or Fetish. I’d pick up a fun lipstick like UD Heroine and then a more everyday shade like Violate or Oblivion.

  1. I have the Viseart Amethyst– and it is truly divine for mauve and purple addicts. It spoils you for everything else. As much as a I try to vary it, I pretty much wear these colors most often. Bijoux Royale is also nice for those who wear cool tones– and I think it has not gotten the press it deserves because a lot of the beauty bloggers are warm toned. I think it would be great on you, Courtney. Also I agree with you about the Denona Blue and Brown palette– they call colors by all different names which are not accurate– very annoying. Anyway, from the sale, I ordered the Alchemist palette, the Kat von D lip liner in Sexter or whatever it’s called, and yes, the Dyson– not 100% sure it will work with my hair. Christophe Robin opened a pop-up salon in my town and I went by for a consult, and after he recommended shampoos, (which got horror reviews on Sephora, so not getting those products), he told me my hair is best air-dried which is what I always do. Except he said in winter. This was after I ordered the hair dryer. So not sure I should keep it. For reference, I have longish, baby fine, wavy hair. I was thinking to use the diffuser. In case, anyone else knows of the Dyson working for that hair texture.

  2. I think I’m lusting after the KVD alchemist palette because the packaging is so beautiful! I have fyrinnae dupes but I think she might get me on this purchase 😛

  3. I agree with you, Rouge should have gotten 20%, but that’s an old story. Sephora will only give 20% once a year, and even then they are doing you a favor. I just put in my order. Got the Kat VonD lipstick set, the Mother mini lipstick duo and some other bits and bobs that Ulta doesn’t have that I use on a regular basis. I might be in the store tomorrow, so we’ll see if there’s anything else I forgot, LOL. Waiting for a good freebie to place my Ulta 20% order. And 5x points on Urban Decay! Can’t beat that . . .

    1. I did my Ulta 20% off, can’t wait for it to get here. Ulta cares more about their Platinum members than Sephora does their VIB Rouge.
