Very Fair Foundation Swatches
Hello, beautiful creatures! Today I’m bringing you a roundup of very fair foundation swatches. For those of you who are new here, hello my name is Cordelia and I have a very fair neutral skin tone with muted yellow undertones, and I turn olive when exposed to sun.
Everything purchased by me and all opinions are my own.
What I’m Looking for in a Foundation
What do I want in a foundation? I want my foundation shade to be a flawless shade match. It needs to be longwearing, or able to wear at least 12 hours. I love light to medium coverage, so I rarely need or want full coverage. I often prefer foundation sticks because of their customizable coverage. I love a glowy finish, so anywhere from radiant to skinlike, but not matte. See more foundation features.
Very Fair Foundation Swatches
I took these very fair foundation swatches photos outdoors on an overcast afternoon. The indoor photos were taken standing next to tall sliding glass doors to take advantage of natural indirect lighting.

Milani Glow Hydrating Skin Tint
The Milani Glow Hydrating Skin Tint offers sheer-to-light coverage. I didn’t feel like shade 110 Fair to Light matched me well. It also got darker and oxidized the longer I wore it. While it didn’t work well for me, it might work better for someone a shade or two deeper than I am.
Flower Beauty Light Illusion Liquid Foundation
The Flower Beauty Light Illusion Liquid Foundation is a medium coverage foundation that touts a lightweight, breathable formula and nude-skin feel. If you’re looking to build it up, I would use a stippling motion with a brush. Otherwise, I would apply it with a beauty blender. The shade Shell works well on my skin tone.
Makeup Revolution CC Perfecting Skin Tint
The Makeup Revolution CC Perfecting Skin Tint in Light is one of the few adjustable formulas that’s actually able to adjust to my skin tone. Makeup Revolution Pro calls it magic in a tube and I’d say that fits! It’s a very lightweight skin tint. I find it’s best to apply it with my fingers and then use a sponge to go over it once it’s all applied. This is the best Makeup Revolution product I’ve tried to date.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation
I wanted to love the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation in Shade 100, but it felt so heavy on my dry skin. It felt like it sat on top of my skin. I didn’t like how it looked at all. I wish I had tried the Eaze drops instead. I believe this foundation is being discontinued.
Smashbox Studio Skin 24 Hour Full Coverage Waterproof Foundation
The Smashbox Studio Skin 24 Hour Full Coverage Waterproof Foundation in Shade 0.1 is one of the most full coverage foundations I’ve ever tried. I’m not a fan of full coverage, but for those of you who are, you may love this formula. I do appreciate that it’s waterproof! I have to prep my dry skin very well to wear a full coverage waterproof product like this.
L.A. Girl Tinted Foundation
The L.A. Girl Tinted Foundation is perfect for blurring imperfections and giving you that no makeup makeup glow. I love the packaging and the tiny needle tip nozzle. It’s far neater than many other liquid foundation bottles. This Tinted foundation is perfect for those of you who love affordable, light coverage foundation. Shade Ivory matches me very well!
Em Cosmetics Daydream Cushion
The Em Cosmetics Daydream Cushion in Cloud Dream is the best cushion foundation that I’ve found to date. It’s one of a select few of cushion foundations that comes in a very fair foundation shade that is flexible enough to work with my skin tone.
Nyx Born To Glow Medium Coverage Naturally Radiant Foundation
Nyx Born To Glow Medium Coverage Naturally Radiant Foundation has been around for several years at this point and I’m always afraid Nyx is going to discontinue it. It’s the best foundation you can buy for $10 at the drugstore, in my humble opinion. It’s medium coverage, hydrating enough for my dry skin, and the shade Pale is my perfect match.
KVD Beauty Good Apple Foundation
I wanted to love the KVD Beauty Good apple Foundation in Light 002. The shade match is perfect. However, I hated how the foundation sat on top of my skin, emphasizing pores, and wouldn’t last 9-5 for me. I could not find a way to make it work on my dry skin. If you love this foundation, please tell me how you use it!
Smashbox Studio Skin 24 Hour Oil-Free Hydra
The Smashbox Studio Skin 24 Hour Oil-Free Hydra in Shade 0.1 is an old faithful in my makeup collection. This foundation works well, doesn’t get cakey, and the shade match is excellent.
Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream RX
The Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream RX in Shade 17 also works well as another very fair foundation for me. I think the difference between the Missha BB and BB RX is very slight. It also looks like the RX may have been reformulated recently. It has a very limited shade range, only 4 colors.
Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF 42 PA+++
Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF 42 PA+++ in Shade 13 is a bit of a unicorn shade for me! Carlye, Dave, and I are around the same depth of skin tone, but he has red undertones, whereas I’m more of a muted yellow. Shade 13 works on Dave’s skin, our magical bestie Carlye, and myself. It’s definitely what I would call medium to full coverage, but you can thin it out with a glowy product like Auric Glow Lust in Morganite. It definitely doesn’t feel heavy or itchy on my skin. It has a nice finish, too.
In the photos above, as well as the rest of the photos from our Las Vegas photoshoot, the three of us are wearing Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF 42 PA+++ in Shade 13. While the shade range is limited in this line, #13 is very forgiving in my experience.
Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Blurring Balm in Shade 1
I LOVE the Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Blurring Balm in Shade 1 and in Universal. I bought Universal because I couldn’t find anywhere to swatch shades 1 and 2 to see which would match me best. After visiting several Sephoras, none of which had Blurring Balm in stores, I ended up buying 1, hoping it would work for me and it does!
I love how flexible and multi-tasking the Yummy Skin Blurring Balm is! You can use the Yummy Skin Blurring Balm as a primer for your eyes or face. It can be used to set a foundation, to add sheer coverage, or to add coverage throughout the day.
It Cosmetics CC+ Nude Glow Lightweight Foundation + Glow Serum with SPF 40
The It Cosmetics CC+ Nude Glow Lightweight Foundation + Glow Serum with SPF 40 (would it kill them to choose shorter names for their products?) is the first foundation that I’ve purchased from It Cosmetics in a very long time. I’ve been loving their It Cosmetics brushes, but prior to giving this foundation a try, I haven’t seen anything interesting from the brand in forever.
Fair Ivory is a little darker than I normally wear, but I like the glowy finish and feel of this foundation. It’s hydrating on my dry skin and comfortable to wear.
Final Thoughts
I hope you find my very fair foundation swatches and mini-reviews helpful if you’re looking for a new foundation! I haven’t purchased many new foundations or complexion perfection products this year. Have you found any light to medium coverage foundations with amazing finishes? Let me know! I’m always open to finding the perfect glowy foundation that requires no tweaking!
My favorites of the foundations I featured today are:
- Auric Glow Lust Radiant Luminizer in Morganite
- Em Cosmetics Daydream Cushion in Cloud Dream
- LA Girl Tinted Foundation in Ivory
- It Cosmetics CC+ Nude Glow in Fair Ivory
- Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream in Shade 13
- Smashbox Studio Skin 24 Hour Oil-Free Hydra in Shade 0.1
- Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Blurring Balm in Shade 1
Good looking out for us with fair skin! Thank you!
The Danessa Myricks foundation is way too yellow on my skin and it’s heavier than I like. That was a disappointment for me. I’d be interested in the blurry balm but worried about it.
I’m so sorry to hear that! You can order samples of Danessa from Camera Ready Cosmetics!
