Is Draping the New Contouring?
Is Draping the New Contouring?
Is Draping the New Contouring? I interviewed my favorite celebrity makeup artist James Vincent at the Makeup Show in Orlando Florida a few weeks ago. He was kind enough to talk about some of the new makeup trends for 2017 that he loves – primarily draping, texture and color. Draping (or nontouring if you will) is the new contouring. He explains how to drape and who created the draping technique. He also touches on how Francois Nars is keeping it alive. I am truly grateful for the opportunity that I had to speak with James and share his knowledge with you.

More to See
That was a very informative interview, I really liked it. This was the very first time I ever heard of draping, I’m curious to see some examples of this, I’m going to look them up. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.
Nice interview Courtney! I want to see these techniques in action!
GREAT interview, Courtney! Apparently, I’ve been doing nontouring for years. haha I agree with Jesse – his descriptions are so good, I immediately got what the techniques are about. Glad to hear color is coming back. 😉
I prefer the draping method over contouring for an everyday look. Less steps to complete a look! I still love contouring when done right. I am excited for all of the pastel colors that have been coming out, too.
I just love hearing him talk about technique! You can almost see it.
