Unicorns never really go out of style, and this post has been magical enough to stick around since 2017! Since so many of you keep finding it, I’ve refreshed it for 2026 with unicorn makeup brushes you can actually buy today, plus the modern multichrome makeup that scratches that magical unicorn itch better than anything we had back then. My original 2017 recommendations are preserved at the bottom with honest availability notes, and I’ll warn you now: the unicorn graveyard is extensive.

The unicorn brush market has completely turned over since 2017, but Amazon still delivers the magic. These are the current unicorn makeup brush sets available right now. All of these feature synthetic bristles.

• F.A.R.A.H Black Unicorn Brush Set – 8 black unicorn horn brushes from a small business, including a powder brush, angled contour brush, fan brush, and 5 eye brushes. If you loved the black Mokde set from my original list, this is its spiritual successor
• Zoolinn Pink Unicorn Brush Set – 7 glitter-handled brushes covering blush, foundation, powder, eyeshadow, lip, and brows
• XMKJCHA Unicorn Brush Set with Diamond Bag – 10 pieces plus a sparkly bag to keep them in

A quick honesty note from someone who has bought a lot of novelty brushes: budget unicorn brushes are gorgeous on a vanity and totally fine for powder products, but check the bristle density before expecting them to blend like your workhorse brushes. The Fantasy and F.A.R.A.H sets have the best reviews of the bunch.

Here’s the secret: in 2026, unicorn makeup means multichromes, and the indie brands have made 2017’s unicorn offerings look quaint. This is the magical makeup I actually wear now.

In 2017 it was a trend; in 2026 it’s a permanent part of the indie beauty world thanks to multichromes.

Are unicorn makeup brushes good quality?

It varies wildly. Most unicorn brush sets are budget synthetic brushes that look magical and work fine for powder products, though they may not blend as densely as professional brushes. Read reviews, check the bristle density, and treat them as fun additions rather than replacements for your core brushes.

Are unicorn makeup brushes cruelty free?

Most use synthetic bristles rather than animal hair, which is a good start, but synthetic doesn’t automatically mean the brand is certified cruelty free. Check each listing; I’ve noted where sets advertise cruelty free synthetic fibers above.

Everything below is preserved from my original 2017 post for the nostalgia and for anyone who owns these treasures, with honest availability notes. Pour one out: the unicorn trend gave us so many limited editions, and limited means limited.

Unicorn Makeup Brushes (2017)

Macy and Mia Unicorn Makeup Brushes (discontinued)
Macy and Mia had 4 different sets of unicorn makeup brushes. I had the 5 piece Neon Unicorn set, which I loved using for draping with multiple blushes. The brand is gone now, but my microfiber cloth cleaning hack from the photo above still works with every brush I own.

Tarte Magic Wands Brush Set (discontinued)
The Tarte Magic Wands Brush Set was a fairy-tale inspired, unicorn horn shaped set of brushes. A limited edition that never returned.

Fony, Overmal, Mokde & Coshine Unicorn Brushes (all discontinued)
The gold Fony set, the pink-to-violet-to-blue Overmal ombre set, the black Mokde set with those long tapered handles, and the Coshine rainbow set have all vanished from Amazon, as budget brush listings tend to do. See my 2026 section above for their modern equivalents.

Unicorn Makeup (2017)

Makeup Geek Celestial Highlighter (discontinued, brand closed 2022)
Celestial was my go-to highlighter, an iridescent white that shifted pink-violet on the skin. Makeup Geek closed its doors in April 2022, and this one still stings.

Makeup Geek Kaleidoscope & Sugar Rush (discontinued, brand closed 2022)
These two duochrome eyeshadows traveled everywhere with me. If you’re mourning them, Clionadh and Kaleidos multichromes in my 2026 section fill the void and then some.

Geek Chic Luck Dragon (discontinued, brand closed)
Inspired by the Luck Dragon from the Neverending Story, this warm coraly-pink with intense turquoise duochrome was pure magic. Geek Chic Cosmetics has closed.

Fyrinnae Dinosaur Plushie (brand still open!)
A survivor! Fyrinnae is still going strong after all these years, and their sparkly multi-colored shadows remain worthy of a unicorn. Check their current shade list for Dinosaur Plushie’s availability, and browse their Arcane Magic duochromes while you’re there.

Sugarpill Lumi (shade discontinued, brand still open)
Lumi was my forever staple, an iridescent white with blue and turquoise shift that made any look perfect. The shade has been discontinued, though Sugarpill itself is still making bold cruelty free color.

Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Palette & Spellbound Glow Rainbow Highlighter (both discontinued)
Tarte’s unicorn-inspired palette and pastel rainbow highlighter were limited editions that never came back.

Milk Makeup Holographic Stick (discontinued)
This lavender iridescent sheen stick was downright gorgeous. Milk has discontinued it.

Too Faced Unicorn Tears La Creme Lipstick (discontinued)
I raved about this gorgeous lavender with blue violet shift for over a year. Gone now, and modern iridescent toppers are your best substitute.

Farsali Unicorn Essence Serum (availability varies)
The berry-packed serum that blew up overnight in 2017. Farsali is still around, though its retail presence has shrunk considerably, so check current stock before hunting for it.

Overtone Hair Glitter (product discontinued, brand still open)
The aloe-based hair glitter is gone, though Overtone still makes their color conditioners. For hair magic these days, I get mine from vivid color instead; see my rainbow hair guide.

House of Beauty Co Unicorn Lip Topcoat (discontinued)
A sheer iridescent violet-blue lip topcoat I discovered at the Makeup Show Orlando. The brand is no longer around.

Urban Decay Vice Special Effects Lip Topcoats (discontinued)
White Lie over Perversion, shown above, was peak unicorn lips. The entire Vice Special Effects line is discontinued, but you can still see my swatches of all the topcoats for the memories.

Bite Beauty Opal Creme Lipstick (discontinued, brand closed 2022)
This multi-dimensional iridescent blue lipstick was ahead of its time. Bite Beauty closed in 2022.

Makeup Revolution Unicorn Palettes (discontinued)
Makeup Revolution is still around, but the three unicorn palettes are long gone.

GlitterDaze Moonbeam & Trust Fund Beauty Boy Tears (both discontinued)
Moonbeam’s silvery holographic base with blue-lavender sheen was the iridescent hide and horn of a unicorn, and Boy Tears made anything magical on top of it. Both brands have since closed. My spiral horn nail from these photos lives on in the Unicorn Mani How To Guide, which works with any modern holographic polish.

Unicorn Makeup Bags: So Pink, Lost Cove & Mini Geek Boutique (no longer available)
The Life is Magic bag, the I’m Really a Unicorn bag, and the customizable unicorn kit have all ridden off into the sunset. Amazon and Etsy remain full of unicorn makeup bag options if you search.
