Summer Brat Makeup Inspiration

Summer Brat Makeup

Hello, Hex Squad! Today I’m sharing summer brat makeup inspiration with you featuring Bellabeautébar Basic Witch palette. I picked this palette up in March when I wasn’t feeling well. Thankfully I’m doing much better now now. I’ve had more time to delve into it and I love it so much. Every color works for me, even Grimoire, so I’m pleased.

Everything purchased by me except where marked *PR. All opinions my own.

Photography Note

No, I’m not using self-tanner in my summer brat makeup, but I am trying to shoot in such a way as to give me more of a skintone that you would see outdoors in daylight rather than my usual indirect cool lighting which highlights my fair skintone.

Also, far less fun, my allergies are terrible this summer, so my skin has been extra dry. I’m backing off on my adapalene 0.3% gel until my skin chills out.

Summer Brat Eyeshadow Color Story

Summer Brat Eyeshadow Color Story

These are all the colors I used on my eyes for my summer brat makeup. For the eyeliner, I applied the black liquid eyeliner first, then topped it with black eyeshadow. I tightlined my eyes with the black eyeliner pencil and then deepened it with black eyeshadow. That’s the best way I’ve found to get the blackest black on my eyes.

Purple Lips

This is the first time in a while that I’ve worn purple lipstick and I missed it! Dave said he especially liked the iridescent sheen from Bubble Bath on top. This is a very comfortable liquid lipstick formula and it does not cause me to lick my lips or feel dry. That’s a winner in my book!

Makeup Lesson

I went to Sephora International Plaza to see pro makeup artist Cherie for a makeup lesson in sculpting my face and how to better draw eyebrow hairs on. I highly recommend booking a session with Cherie if you’re in Tampa, or with another pro makeup artist. It really makes a difference.

Brows

For my brows, she recommended picking a favorite brow and styling that brow first. She used Anastasia Brow Freeze on me to brush my favorite brow up and out. Then took a thin angled eyeshadow brush with soft black eyeshadow and drew on brow hairs. I’ve tried recreating this with Silk Naturals Tour (use code CORDELIA to save) with success. For this summer brat makeup look I tried the LA Girl Soft Black Brow Ink Long-Wearing Micro Brush Detailer Pen to draw on the hair strokes. I like color it produces but I find the tip to not consistently work. It seems very finicky.

Sculpting

To help me learn to sculpt my face, she showed me where to put my cream bronzer behind my jawbone, then blend downwards before going under the chin. I had been taking my contour onto the bottom of my jawline, and in essence, cutting it off and making it look more boxy instead of slimmer. So I’ve adjusted my contour placement in this makeup look and I see improvement. I’ll keep practicing to improve.

Personalized Product Recommendations

It was really nice to have Cherie shade match me to Haus Labs 01 Fair Neutral Triclone Skin Tech Hydrating + De-puffing Concealer. She said 02 Fair Golden Olive was too yellow but the right depth, and that the person at the other Sephora who thought they had matched me may not have been a pro makeup artist. But I also felt like O2 Fair Golden Olive disappeared into my skin.

Cherie also let me know that the tarte Amazonian Clay blurring powder in 12N Fair Neutral was too dark for my skintone. In its place she recommended Huda Beauty Pound Cake Easy Bake Loose Baking & Setting Powder.

She recommended Haus Labs Moonstone Bio-Radiant Gel-Powder Highlighter and I’m so glad she did. I’ve thought about buying it many times.

Cherie stated that she sees I have very fair neutral cool skin, so highlighers like Moonstone and concealers like 01 Fair Neutral will match me better. I know that many people, myself included, can struggle to match foundation, so if you are struggling, I recommend seeing a pro makeup artist.

TV Obsessions & Movies

House of the Dragon

I’m currently obsessed with House of the Dragon for its dragons, Rhaenyra, and Daemon. The dragons are fantastic, but I’m struggling with the writing and directing, which I find quite poor. I felt that season 2 was incredibly slow, with too many long, boring pauses and too much focus on side stories. I believe much of the time would have been better spent on developing the main characters. There wasn’t enough screen time for Helaena, Jace, and Baela, just to name a few. Additionally, Rhaenys made a rookie mistake that didn’t align with her and Meleys’ experience.

I don’t mind some of the changes made to the story as I do feel that they help it flow better, such as eliminating some of the characters and combining others. But I truly detest lots of boring, pregnant pauses, deep sighs, and stares. It makes for boring tv. It doesn’t build tension for me.

The Acolyte

I finished binging the Acolyte and it is by far my favorite spin off from Star Wars. It also helps that Manny Jacinto is handsome and dynamic.

The Dragon Prince

And I adored the latest season of the Dragon Prince, Story of Aaravos. I cried a lot through this season.

Exploding Kittens

Dave and I did giggle a lot at Exploding Kittens, thanks to Tom Ellis (from the tv show Lucifer), Mark Proksch (from What We Do in the Shadows), and Sasheer Zamata.

What We do in the Shadows

I’m excitedly waiting for the final season of What We Ddo in the Shadows. Though I’ll be very sad when it’s over because it’s one of the very few queer, bisexual / pansexual, non-monogamous tv shows. I never see enough queer or non-monogamous representation on tv. I don’t want WWditS to end, but I’d rather them end on a high note.

The Legend of Vox Machina

I watched the Legend of Vox Machina again, I need them to hurry up and come out with another season. Same for Fallout and Delicious in Dungeon.

I typically love all things related to vampires, werewolves, faeries, and magic when it comes to tv. I’m hoping for some new cool shows to replace ones coming to a close.

Movie

I’m very excited for the Deadpool & Wolverine movie! Dave, Mickey and I are going to see that this weekend. I love getting to spend time with my bestie and my beloved.

Gaming

I’m still obsessively playing Baldur’s Gate 3 with Dave. Druids, Bards and Sorcerers, oh my! I’m having a blast with them all.

Final Thoughts

Brat Makeup Inspiration by Cordelia

I hope you love my summer brat makeup inspiration. I really love it when I get to play with makeup.

On a personal note, to help me recover and improve my my stamina, flexibility, and strength, I’m now practicing yoga about 20 hours a week with Dave. I’m so grateful to have a wonderful partner who enjoys doing things like this with me. It helps keep me motivated. Yoga is so healing for the mind and body.

Let me know how you’re doing in the comments below. Also, should I film makeup tutorials again or do people not really watch those anymore?

  1. I love this look! The green and pink hue combo is uplifting and slightly cyber goth punk-esque! You look beautiful. You have been my favorite beauty blogger for more than a decade who dares to challenge to the color palette of makeup standards and exposes your followers to inspirational makeup application. Thx so much for keeping up the eyeshadow art expos for us. Love the top! <3

  2. Hi beautiful! I absolutely love this tutorial. Those colors match your personality 10+ I think. I have blue eyes so would you mind letting me know your opinion.
    Thank you in advance ☺️

    1. Hi! I’m blessed to have cyan eyes, so they look blue, green, or blue-green depending on what I’m wearing and the light. Pink, purple, and green can be fun colors to try with blue eyes. Remember, it’s just makeup and you can wash it off if you don’t like it. But I think these are fun shades to wear instead of your typical brown, bronze, and orange.
