My Clarisonic Mia Review

My Clarisonic Mia Pink Review

Today I’m sharing my My Clarisonic Mia Review with you. Ok, so remember the first time you used an electric toothbrush? The first time I used one, I wondered where it had been all my life! My mouth and teeth felt so wonderfully clean! I’ve not gone without one since. It took me one use to be impressed, and now I’m hooked.

This is EXACTLY how I feel about Clarisonic Mia. The first time I used it, I couldn’t believe how soft and clean my skin felt. This thing exceeded all of my expectations and isn’t all hype. The reason everyone loves it? Everyone loves the Clarisonic because it is excellent!

It didn’t irritate my sensitive skin that first use. I’ve been alternating between using it twice a day and once a day, and it’s still not irritating my skin. The sensitive brush head works just fine on my skin. I love this! So many things will irritate my sensitive skin, which is the biggest reason I’d held off on buying a Clarisonic. I just didn’t want to spend $150 only to have it be something I didn’t use. Thank goodness that’s not the case!

The Clarisonic Mia deep cleans my skin and buffs away the dead skin gently, even around my nose piercing, and this area is notoriously difficult for me to get exfoliated without it feeling like I’m going to rip my piercing out. I can’t use my Blinc Resurf.a.stic easily in this area, so normally, I resort to using a washcloth to try and get it clean, and it’s a struggle. With Mia, no more struggle. I must tolerate the ticklish feeling of the brush vibrating on my nose and piercing. The mild discomfort is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo worth it.

I’ve used the Clarisonic Gentle Hydro Cleanser with it, and that’s ok, and I’ve used the Purity Made Simple cleanser with it, and that’s ok too. I need to find a cleanser that I can use with it that I like. I will probably try to find different cleansers I can use with it. Kimberly of GeoGrafx said that her Lemon Mousse cleanser should be fine with it when I emailed her to ask.

I did get a couple of whiteheads after using the brush on the third day, but I’m not sure if that was from the Purity Made Simple cleanser or from my skin adjusting to all of the deep cleanings.

Clarisonic Mia Review Value

So the Clarisonic Mia Pink costs $149. I saved 20% on it (so about $29.80) since I bought it during Sephora’s Friends & Family sale. The replacement brushes seem to cost $25 and you should replace them about every 3 months it says. While the initial investment might be a bit steep, spending the $100 a year for maintenance isn’t bad, especially if you’re using this brush instead of buying exfoliant, or getting professional facials done. Considering for me when I got my professional facial done that it was very uncomfortable, borderline painful, I much prefer this to a professional facial.

I did start out using it twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. But I like using my Angels on Bare Skin, so right now this is what my skincare routine looks like with it.

Morning Skin

I cleanse with Lush’s Angels on Bare Skin or Camellia Rose’s Calming Cleanser.
AoBS smells like lavender, which I dislike, but I tolerate it for the results it gives me.
CR’s CC is being perfected but I already love it more because it doesn’t stink.
I put The Body Shop’s Vitamin C Skin Boost Serum. This goes on my face and neck. I love this gel.
Garnier Nutritioniste’s Skin Renew Anti Sun Damage Moisture Lotion SPF 28
Then I put on Aromaleigh’s Aromatherapy Lip Balm in Minty Coco Chip on my lips.
After this, I’m ready for makeup 🙂

Evening Skin

I remove my eye makeup with Nyx Eye & Lip Makeup Remover. This is my favorite makeup remover of all the ones I’ve tried.
So far I’ve tried the following cleansers with the Clarisonic.
a. Clarisonic Gentle Hydro Cleanser
b. Philosophy Purity Made Simple
c. GeoGrafx Fresh Lemon Cleansing Mousse (I prefer this one right now)
I basically wet my face and then apply the cleanser, massaging my face to get it all around it. Then I wet the Clarisonic Mia brush head. Then I use it on my face. I then cleanse the brush head after I’m done and rinse it.
I then put The Body Shop’s Seaweed Clarifying Night Treatment on my face.
Then I put on Aromaleigh’s Aromatherapy Lip Balm in Minty Coco Chip on my lips.

I’m hoping to be switch to a different night moisturizer and a different Vitamin C serum, once some friends of mine come up with one that they’re working on. My preference would be to use that for both day and night, and then just put on my SPF on top of that for daytime use.

Final Thoughts on the Clarisonic Mia

While the Clarisonic (any version) is expensive, I feel like splurging to buy it was worth it for me.
It lives up to its claim of deep cleaning my face.
I do feel that my skin is smoother and healthier looking.
I have no traces of makeup left after I use it.
The size of the Mia is appealing, I like the color, and I like that it’s waterproof.
I would definitely recommend this product.

I know I was hesitant to buy it because of the cost and my worry about it irritating my skin, but I honestly feel like, at least for me, it’s a good investment for my skin. If that ever changes, I will be sure to let you know.

  1. Thanks for doing the review. I like the size of this one (color too). Looks like it's going on my list of things I must invest in!

  2. Hi Phyrra! Thanks for checking out my blog. 🙂 I will check my comment settings, not sure what's going on there. Thanks for letting me know, I will try to fix it ASAP.

  3. Hey Ella,
I tried to leave a comment at your blog but it doesn't seem to let me. Not sure what's up? Anyways, I love the lashes you posted 🙂

  4. Hi Taryn,
    I'm signed up 😉
Eww, I'll be sure to check.
So far I've used just the one that came with it and the Philosophy Purity, both of which seem smooth, not gritty.

  5. Apriltini's right – sign up for SkinStore's emails because they frequently have discounts, which will be handy for when you need to buy a new brush head. Plus their customer service is excellent.

I wish the Mia had been available when I'd gotten mine. Mine works for exfoliating away the flakes I get from the retinoid I use, but it still hasn't done anything for my blackheads, and I've used it for a long time. But it does make my face feel really clean.

Just be sure to take the brush head off once in awhile and clean in there with an old toothbrush or something. Grittier or thicker cleansers can leave a gross residue, as I found out before!

  6. Hi Mama Jen,
    Glad you like it 😉
I would keep an eye out at other places that sell it for sales. Heck, even Amazon might have something on sale at some point!

  7. Great Review! I'm glad the investment paid off for you! I'm very interested in this, i'm kicking myself for not talking advantage of the F&F sale to pick this up.

  8. I've heard that skinstore.com has fairly frequent 20% off sales, so that might be a place to get replacement brush heads. I've never purchased anything from them, but know a few who have, and they haven't complained.
