Milani Prep Set Glow Illuminating Powder
Today I’m sharing my Milani Prep Set Glow Illuminating Powder Review with you. You know it’s not often that I rave about drugstore products but two recent releases from Milani have blown me away. You need this setting powder! It’s the best drugstore setting powder for dry skin.
Where to Buy Milani Prep Set Glow Illuminating Powder
CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Milani, Beauty Bay
A while back I ordered the Milani Make It Dewy Setting Spray from Milani’s website because it wasn’t available from any of the stores that are supposed to carry it near me. It’s really frustrating, from my point of view, to go to several different CVS, Walgreens and Walmart looking for the ‘new Milani releases’ that have been out online for months at Milani’s website, only to be told in store that the stores haven’t ever heard of those releases and they don’t know when or if they’ll get them in stock. It’s a waste of my time. I’d rather just buy Milani online, preferably from Ulta. Instead, I’m stuck buying from Milani’s website.
Price
$10 for .20 oz (it’s less expensive at Walmart)

It’s very difficult to see the swatch on my hand. That’s why I did a finger swatch also, to try to show you how pale the Milani Prep Set Glow Illuminating Powder turns out to be. It has a subtle pale peach glow to it that’s barely perceptible on the skin.
One thing I would like to note is that, while I love the Milani Prep Set Glow Illuminating Powder and the Make It Dewy Setting Spray, I’m really sad that there are no foundation options from Milani for me. I bought both 00 Light Natural and 01 Creamy Vanilla, hoping that one of these would work for my skintone. Unfortunately, both are too peachy and too dark for my skintone. Even more disappointing, I can barely see a difference in the two shades. I really wish Milani would consider making a foundation option that’s lighter.
Milani Prep Set Glow Illuminating Powder Review
I used the Milani Prep Set Glow Illuminating Powder in all three looks above.
Milani says that the Prep Set Glow Illuminating Powder is meant to be used as a primer, setting powder and illuminator. It’s supposed to deliver a natural, healthy glow, blur imperfections, set makeup and add radiance all over. They tell you to wear it under foundation to prep the skin or to put it on top of makeup to lock it in.
I tested the Milani Prep Set Glow Illuminating Powder in the tropical, humid summer weather of central Florida. I also tested it in the burning desert heat of Las Vegas. It held up admirably under both conditions. I easily get 14+ hour wear.
Let me tell you how I use this as part of my daily foundation routine. First I apply my primer. Right now that’s normally the Ordinary High Spreadability Fluid Primer. Second I apply my foundation, which is usually the Ordinary Serum Foundation. Then I apply the Milani Prep Set Glow Illuminating Powder all over my face to make sure my liquid foundation has set. Fourth, I apply blush and highlighter. Finally, I seal it all in with the Milani Make It Dewy Spray (see my review of the best drugstore setting spray for dry skin).
While I’ve never used this as a primer, I rely on it daily to set whatever liquid (or in some cases cream) foundation I’m wearing. I love the subtle, lit from within look it gives me all over. It’s definitely not blingy enough on its own to be a highlighter for me. It reminds me a little bit of MAC Lightscapade, except it’s more subtle. I think this might be a good cruelty free dupe for MAC Lightscapade. It’s easily the best drugstore setting powder for dry skin. If you’ve got dry skin like me, you need to give the Milani Prep Set Glow Illuminating Powder a try!
Hey! I’m not sure if you’ve tried Hourglass’s Ambient lighting powders. If you have, can you compare those at all tot he Milani Prep Set and Glow? Thanks!!!
I really wanna know this too! I am looking for a cheaper dupe on Hourglass’s Ambient lighting powders
They just released two “paler” shades. 00A and 00B. I am a pale princess also so I picked up 00A. I really hope this works because I love the foundation. I have to use a ton of the NYX white foundation mixer and it’s still too dark but it is so good for my dry skin. It also lasts 10+ hours for me which is a must in my line of work. Hope they work for you!
I saw that! I bought shade 00B online, no idea when it will arrive! Happy to hear it lasts for you 🙂 I just felt like I was wearing oompa loompa orange with 00 Light Natural.
It looks really pretty!
It’s so good! And you can’t beat the price.
