I’ve got several cruelty free heat protectants for hair to share with you today. It’s important to protect your hair from heat if you blow dry, curl or flat iron your hair. If you don’t, you’ll end up with fried locks that you may have to chop off! And since not everyone wants short hair (though you know I think it’s cute because I rocked a pixie for a long time), to prevent that from happening you need to invest in a heat protectant. This is a dual-phase spray that protects against excessive heat that can damage color-treated hair. The top phase protects against heat while the bottom conditioners hair with Quinoa Color repair. You must shake well before use!

Paul Mitchell Express Style Hot Off the Press (Leaping Bunny Certified)
In addition to protecting your tresses, it provides flexible hold and fights frizz.

Not Your Mother’s Beat the Heat Thermal Styling Spray
While I can’t speak to the validity of it blocking UV rays, it’s supposed to condition and protect your hair from heat from a blow dryer, flat iron or curling iron. It’s also the most affordable option.

Alterna Caviar RepairX Multivitamin Heat Protectant Spray
This is a relatively new spray that not only protects the hair from heat, it adds light conditioning to make it softer. It’s supposed to be good for heat up to 450 F.

Alterna Bamboo Smooth Anti-Breakage Thermal Protectant Spray
This product contains organic bamboo extract and smoothing kendo oil. It’s supposed to make your hair stronger, smoother and healthier as well as protecting against heat up to 428 degrees.

This is supposed to protect hair from the heat, detangle, add softness and it even goes so far as to claim to repair dry, damaged hair.

  1. I just have to ask, why is Alterna Caviar Repair listed in here as cruelty free? It contains caviar extract so is not cruelty free!

    1. Cruelty Free only means that it isn’t TESTED on animals, that’s why a vegan designation is also needed.

  5. The best heat protectant I have ever used is the GKhair ThermalStyleHer. Best against heat prior to styling. It seals moisture into the hair making each hair strand strong enough before the blow drying process that can totally burn or fry your hair. So this heat protectant should be in your hair care arsenal. 🙂 <3
