Urban Decay Summer 2015 Moondust Eyeshadows

Urban Decay Summer 2015 Moondust Eyeshadows Review and Swatches - Phyrra.net

I wanted to share the new Urban Decay Summer 2015 Moondust Eyeshadows with you. Urban Decay released them last week and I immediately bought them because I’m an Urban Decay Addict and I like the sparklies.

I swatched these shades on primer on my hand. I didn’t use a mixing medium. I used bdellium 777 brushes. All of these swatch sheerly when applied like this is and this is not how I recommend wearing them. I recommend  using a mixing medium. When swatched this way, you end up with fallout.

Vortex
smoky black with green shift and gold 3D sparkle
My Thoughts
If you mixed Scorpio with a little bit of Cobra, you’d get Vortex. It’s a beautiful soft semi-sheer smoky black with green iridescence and gold sparkle. Longtime readers of my blog will know that I love UD’s discontinued Cobra color. Personally I would use this as liner, accent color, lower lid or outer lid color.

Dark Force
taupe-brown with gold and iridescent 3D sparkle
My Thoughts
Semi-sheer smoky taupe brown with gold green and blue sparkle. If you don’t have hooded eyes, this would make a great crease color. I would use it as liner, accent color, lower lid or outer lid color. For a taupe brown, it’s a gorgeous color.

Urban Decay Interstellar - Phyrra.netUrban Decay Interstellar swatch - Phyrra.net Urban Decay Interstellar swatch - Phyrra.net

Interstellar
antique gold with pink and gold 3D sparkle
My Thoughts
Semi-sheer peachy gold with pink, gold and copper sparkle. I would use this as a lid shade, to layer on top of colors at the center of the lid, or in a halo look.

Urban Decay Shockwave - Phyrra.netUrban Decay Shockwave swatch - Phyrra.net Urban Decay Shockwave swatch - Phyrra.net

Shockwave
Deep berry with pink and blue 3D sparkle
My Thoughts
Semi-sheer midtone berry pink with strong pink, blue and violet sparkle. I would use this as an outer lid shade. I think it would be great at the outer lid with Cosmic at the inner lid. (See Cosmic, Scorpio, Solstice and Ether)

See this post for more tips on how to wear glittery shades without fallout. I really feel you need to use something like Fyrinnae’s Pixie Epoxy, Darling Girl Glitter Glue or e.l.f. Studio Makeup Mist & Set.

The Moondust line is filled with the complex colors that Urban Decay makes and I think their sparkle makes them fun. Since I’m a sucker for golds, Interstellar is my favorite of these four, but I can’t wait to play with all the shades. They don’t really come alive on regular primer.  Trust me, if you use a mixing medium or sticky base with these, you’ll really enjoy them because you’ll see the colors at their full potential.

Check out Solstice & Shockwave swatched side by side!

What do you think of the Urban Decay Moondust eyeshadows?

  6. I remember you talking about these when they first came out. I think a number of the shades are just gorgeous. But I don’t own any mixing medium, and I think I’m probably too lazy to have to do it.
