Nyx CC Cream Green in Light
Nyx CC Cream Green in Light

Just about every green skincare or makeup product that I have tried – whether it was over the counter, from a doctor, or found in a store like Ulta – has never worked for me. So I’ve always felt like they were one of those gimmicky makeup products that just don’t work. Recently my friend Christine of 15 Minute Beauty Fanatic, also a fellow rosacea sufferer, told me about Nyx CC Cream Green in Light. She said it was amazing. So, emboldened by her recommendation, I ordered it online from Ulta.

Imagine my delight when I tried it for the first time and it actually worked. While Light is too dark to wear on its own with my pale N0-N10 skintone, it really does cover my redness. I can actually wear LESS foundation if I use this product.

The way I like to use it is like this – after I apply my moisturizer with SPF  or priming moisturizer, I’ll tap a small amount of the CC Cream onto my skin to cover only the areas of redness. Once all of the redness is covered, if I’m using a powder foundation I will stipple the foundation on top of the CC Cream only and blend the edges. If I’m using a liquid foundation I will dab it all over my face and then use a damp beauty blender to apply it on top of the CC Cream. I do it like this rather than rubbing or buffing so that I don’t rub off the CC Cream.

I’m so glad Christine mentioned this product to me because I like wearing less foundation overall and letting a bit of my real skin peek through. I do wish that Nyx made a foundation shade to match me, but all of their foundations are way too dark.

Kelly from Gouldylox raved about this eye brightener. I assumed it would be too dark and too slick in texture to work on me, but it somehow manages to correct dark circles, hydrate under the eyes and brighten the skin. You definitely need to set it with something like NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder. If you use too much it will crease or be shiny.

What are some of your beauty blogger enabled purchases? Have you tried either of these? Any cruelty free products I need to check out?

  1. Wow. I always thought the color correcting products/concealers/etc were mostly a gimmick. It looks really nice!

  2. I am going to try the NYX CC cream in green – because, like you, most of the ones I have tried have not worked at all. I only need it for my cheeks. Hopefully they will sell it soon in Target.

  3. Hahahaha…I cannot begin to list all my blogger enabled purchases. I think I need to try that green Nyx cream. I sometimes get redness on my cheeks and nose. See? There you go enabling me again! 😀

  4. Kelly is very popular today with the two of us. I knew about the Becca Undereye Brightening Corrector but I didn’t know how much I needed it until she wrote about it.
