Urban Decay Naked Smoky Smolder Look

Urban Decay Naked Smoky Smolder Look

Today I’ve got an Urban Decay Naked Smoky Smolder look to share with you. Smolder applied like a dream and Dagger was beautiful to blend in with Smolder. I had no truble using Combust to blend out the edges of Smolder and Dagger, probably because I wasn’t trying to build up Combust at all. Thirteen made a lovely subtle highlighter. All of the eyeshadows applied beautifully and I experienced no fallout during application, which was awesome.

This is really a super simple look. Apply Smolder to the lid, lower lid, and crease, blending upwards. Blend a little Dagger into the crease, blending upwards. Use Combust to blend out the edges of Smolder on the browbone. Highlight with Thirteen. I didn’t even use a traditional primer today because I used the foundation  I was wearing on my eyes first. Since I took pictures about 20 minutes after eyeshadow application, you can see how my eyeshadow is already creasing in the down shot. This is why I need to wear eyeshadow primer all the time. Seriously.

I have to say, my new ring light makes my photos look pretty amazing. The built in stand for my Canon Cameras is apparently perfectly positioned so that the light is flattering on me. I don’t have to place my camera on a stand in front of the ring light now. Instead it’s inside the ring. Love it so much!

I’ve had no luck with green color correctors in the past, but my friend Christine (15 Minute Beauty), who also suffers from rosacea, recommended that I try the Nyx one. While it’s too dark to wear on its own, it actually does cover the redness! After priming my skin with a priming moisturizer, I use it sparingly, only where I have redness. Then I apply my foundation. I’m really impressed with its ability to cover redness so far, though I haven’t tested how long it will last.

While the Celebration Foundation SPF 50 in Fair is a bit too dark on my skin, I do love that it’s not drying, it’s comfortable to wear, and it’s full coverage. It makes my skin look flawless. Yeah I know the bronzer isn’t flattering, but I used only the tiniest bit. Check out the QVC’s Today’s Special It Cosmetics Kit which is available for $59.95 today only.

I mentioned before how much I love Too Faced Melted Rainbow. I had to wear it today because it’s just such a vibrant shade. If it’s too bold for you to wear with a look like this, try Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Streak topped with Revolution High-Color Gloss in Kinky or  Naked Ultra Nourishing Gloss in Freestyle.

Now that I’ve used Smolder in a look, I really do like the color, even if I wish it had a bit more purple in it. I might try layering UD’s Fireball or Urban on top of it sometime. It sort of reminds me of a deeper, smokier version of NARS Lhasa.

  1. Hi! Is this new Urban Decay Smoky palette vegan? I really hope it would be! 🙂

  2. You always look so stunning! That lip color with that smokey eye is pure perfection <3

  3. I was a little cautious about the Naked Smoky Palette but you make the eyeshadows look so good on you!

  4. Love those smoky grey eye looks – they are sensational and it so suits you.

  5. That’s such a pretty eye look. I don’t use grays enough. I think I’ll have to copy this. Those lashes are very flattering on you.

    1. Thank you! Even though Smolder isn’t my favorite shade of purple, I really love how it complimented my blue-green eyes 🙂 Also, I think I’m in love with these lashes.

      1. From the swatches I’ve seen, Smolder looks like one of the better shades in the palette.

        1. The shimmery shades are all great. The mattes work better if they have another shade beneath them as a base. (so far from my experimenting).

  6. This is the perfect smokey eye in my opinion. Soft enough that you can wear it during the day OR in the evening. Love it!

  7. That lippie looks perfect with this eye look. I’m getting excited for this palette.

  8. I really like the combination of the smokey eye with the bright lipstick. It is beautiful, fun and so unique.

  9. Gorgeous look! I am loving that palette on you. Those shades really make your unusual green eyes stand out. I have the Celebration palette in Fair, and it’s even a tad too dark or too yellow for me, but I will revisit it once my face gets the tiniest bit of a tan.

  10. You look beautiful as always! This look really makes your eye color stand out. I can’t wait to purchase this palette. Smoky looks are definitely out of the norm for me, but trying new things is always good!!
