About Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder
Urban Decay launches Naked Skin Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder. This addictively silky, weightless formula provides all the benefits of our pressed powder – including the luminous, demi-matte Naked finish you crave. Set makeup, cut shine and blur flaws. Designed to be virtually invisible on your skin, our high-tech, light reflecting formula ‘fools’ the eye with optical blurring, seemingly airbrushing away imperfections and creating a soft-focus effect that looks professionally retouched. Our creamy, buildable formula applies beautifully, never looks chalky or cakey and won’t settle into fine  lines. Wear it over Naked Skin Liquid Makeup or Naked Skin Beauty Balm to set your makeup and help it last, or try this silky formula on bare skin. Any which way you wear it, your skin will look flawless – even under bright, unforgiving  light.

  • Contains micro beads of hydration that actually ‘burst’ when you apply the powder, causing it to glide on weightlessly
  • Jet-milled, insanely silky
  • Paraben free
  • Oil free
  • Alcohol free
  • Fragrance free
  • Cruelty free
  • Vegan

Price
$34 for .28 oz (by comparison the pressed is only .26 oz)

Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder packaging

Packaging
I LOVE this new packaging! I compared this to my old Urban Decay Razor Sharp Ultra Definition Finishing Powder (.42 oz). While I loved the powder, that packaging design was such a pain in the butt to get the powder out without making a mess. The new Ultra Definition Pressed Setting Powder is so easy to get the powder in and out. There’s a cute debossed UD logo inside that dispenses the powder. Additionally, this powder is heads and tails better than the old Razor Sharp.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder Swatches

For reference, I wear .5 in the Naked Skin Liquid Foundation and Naked Light in the Beauty Balm.

My Thoughts
The shades seem to be pretty forgiving. On my skin Light blends in nearly seamlessly. Medium Light and Medium are very close in tone to my eyes. I think Medium Light is a tiny bit warmer. Medium Dark is noticeably deeper than Medium and Dark is a huge jump from Medium Dark. I think these shades will work with almost all skintones.

I absolutely LOVE this loose setting powder. I didn’t really get into setting powders until last year and the loose just seem to work better for me than pressed, especially once James Vincent taught me the press and roll technique. (See my video here). This powder is incredibly silky to the touch and after applying it my skin still felt silky smooth even 8 hours later.

Wearing Naked Skin Beauty Balm and Ultra Definition Finishing Powder in Naked Light

In this picture I have on primer, Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm in Naked Light, and I set it with Naked Skin Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder in Naked Light. I feel like it does a wonderful job of helping to blur my skin’s many imperfections (you can see my rosacea peeking through). It doesn’t get cakey on me. It gives me a ‘real skin’ finish, perfect for a no makeup look for a night on the town. I feel like it makes my pores practically invisible.

Pros

  • Feels like I’m wearing nothing at all
  • Doesn’t get cakey
  • Doesn’t make your skin look one dimensional and flat
  • Blurs imperfections
  • Ultra silky formula
  • Paraben free
  • Oil free
  • Alcohol free
  • Fragrance free
  • Cruelty free
  • Vegan

Cons

  • If you don’t like loose powders, this isn’t the product for you

Best Cruelty Free Vegan Finishing Powder

I wore the Beauty Balm and Finishing Powder for 8 hours without showing wear, which seriously impressed me. I think this powder is amazing!

Overall, I’m very pleased with Urban Decay’s new loose powder. From it’s insanely silky formula to its ultra forgiving shades, it’s fantastic. Additionally, I was extremely excited to find out that the loose setting powder (as well as several other UD products) are vegan. I’m happy to have new vegan products to recommend to people when I’m asked.

  1. Ohhh my God, Urban Decay… What are you doing to my wallet!!! Needless to say, I love their Naked line (except Naked 3, I’m still undecided). Would you suggest getting the loose powder instead of the pressed?
