Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette Tutorial

Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette Tutorial

It’s finally officially Winter, though it doesn’t feel that way! Today I’ve got an Urban Decay Gwen Stefani palette tutorial that’s super subtle for you. I swear, I’m about to go back to lash extensions because I can’t get my lashes to hold a curl for more than 5 minutes. I tried changing the pad on my lash curler but that didn’t seem to help.

This post contains a mix of press samples and products purchased by me.

Whoopie Spot is my first ever Lipstick Queen lipstick purchase and it may be my last. It was such an utter disappointment of a color. I expected a solid purple, not a sheer purple. Also, the name is ridiculous and sounds like something my grandma would say. I had to do a ton of swipes to make it as ‘opaque’ as you see in the photos. It’s probably great for layering on top of other shades.

I LOVE OCC Robo Hoochie! I bought it recently when OCC launched it, along with the nail polish. I haven’t tried the polish yet but I absolutely approve of the RTW. I did add Phantom to a few pix for extra dimension. I do love how OCC Lydia + Fairy Girl LAX turned out. I picked up LAX during Black Friday and don’t regret it. It smells like delicious chocolate. Lips 2 and 4 are my favorite.

I really like how MUG Phantom adds a soft purple glow to the lid. Like I mention above, you can use Harajuku from the Gwen palette instead of Phantom.

On a personal note, my Verizon Fios internet and tv have been out for a few days. I strongly suspect my neighbor cut the wire when he put up a fence. I’m not thrilled about it. Verizon was supposed to show up yesterday but didn’t. Hopefully they’ll show up today. Being with limited internet (thanks to a wireless hot spot) sucks. I feel like I’m on dial up again. I can’t upload videos. I can barely upload photos.

What’s going on with you? Which lip look do you prefer?

  1. The Gwen palette looks to be really versatile – good mix of colours perfect for work, weekend, or a night out. Waiting to see it in store so I can check it out on my skin.

  2. So pretty! I love it! I ended up getting the UD Gwen palette and I’m definitely loving it! Every shade works really well with my skin. LOVE the fun colors the best of course but I am using the lighter shades and matte shades like crazy! Anaheim is sooooooo good in my crease whether I do a more neutral look or a more colorful one & need to add definition to my crease. Thank you so much again for your amazing swatches & review! I would have never known how great this palette could be for my fair skin without you! <333

TF BtW in Snow!!! Looks BEAUTIFUL on you!!! Cover FX N0 is my perfect match so I was really bummed when I saw swatches online of the initial shade range bc there was no shade that would remotely work for me…but I'd gotten the sampler card and LOVED the foundation! </3 I was so happy to see they expanded the shade range! *o/* I hope they continue to expand the line bc everyone I see in that foundation looks AMAZING. I need to have a serious think on Snow (& read your most recent fair skin foundation post!)!

OMG YES PLEASE TO AN OCC PENCIL IN A SHADE LIKE GRAPE!!! I never skip lip liner and I need a color like that. OCC pencils are my #1 favorite for lining my lips. *hopes*

  3. Love that look! The Too Faced foundation looks awesome! I have been thinking of getting a sample. I’m not sure if Snow will be too dark to work with. Cover FX N0 is a perfect match for me but I keep hearing amazing things about the Born This Way foundation..!

  4. Hi Courtney! Although I’m perhaps the world’s biggest extension fan, I have a keep-the-curl-in tip for you. When I was still using mascara I would apply a coat of waterproof first (wet n wild in the hot pink tube) after curling my lashes and then put the lights camera lashes on top. Curl lasted all day! Love love my extensions even though they’re a bizzilion times more expensive.

  5. I’m more into eye shades, but all the lip shades look very nice! I like the robo hoochie best.

  6. Purple. My favorite! I worked at MAC when Grape was still available and I am clinging to my stumpy stick of it for dear life. There is NO dupe for this anywhere!

  7. A really gorgeous look Phyrra and I love that little purple extra on your eye lids. Have a lovely Christmas with your family and may your makeup dreams come true…

  8. Love this look! Another great way to get mileage out of the Gwen Stefani palette. I also really love the Fairy Girl Lipstick in LAX on you. Even though it is cool toned it strangely brightens your face in a very flattering way 🙂

Lipstick Queen as a brand is over priced in my opinion. They are trying to market themselves as a luxury lipstick line but the quality just isn’t there. I have purchased a few of their lip products but have not been impressed thus far. Most of their lipsticks are sheer and more like tinted lip balms. I do like Medieval, Hello Sailor, and Jean Queen for no-makeup days but I probably will not repurchase them as I can get a similar effect from cheaper products. The Sinner line is their opaque lipstick line if you were looking to try that.

  9. I’ve really been on the fence about getting this palette just because it looked a little boring to me. I was expecting a little more from it I guess. But I LOVE that MUG shadow on the lid, that really pulls together the whole look!

    1. This palette is definitely for neutral lovers. I figured I’d add a pop of soft purple so as not to overpower everything else and brighten the lid. Thank you!

  10. It’s a shame about Whoopie Spot. It looks more like a layering gloss. I really like the Bittersweet blush with the pink eyelids. I think they set each other off beautifully.

  11. Wow you are so gorgeous in all these shots. Your makeup is so perfect even in the close ups. I like all the lip looks on you, but I think I like 1 and 4 the best. I love the purple tint in the first one and wow! Those last two pics. You look like a model that I would see in the magazines, a cover girl. Sooo beautiful, you are.
You are right Whoopie Spot just sounds… eh. Weird.
