Top 11 Beauty & Fashion Books You’ll Love

Hey friends, I’m back! I’ve been sick most of this week, which is why you haven’t seen much from me online. Today I’m sharing the top 11 Beauty & Fashion books you’ll love.  The following beauty and fashion books are ones I own and enjoy, so I figured I needed to share them with you! Several of these books are by friends of mine and I’ve included links to my friends’ blogs so you can check them out too! There are so many books on beauty and books on fashion out there that it can be hard to sort through them all to find ones you’ll enjoy. And I’ve found a dearth of good Goth books… so I had to include a few good ones on the subculture. I made sure to encompass all of my favorite aspects of beauty with makeup, hair and nails, too.

Best Beauty & Fashion Books

1. Hooded Eyes Makeup Manual

The Hooded Eyes Makeup Manual was written by me and published this past December, so of course I wanted to include it! It’s a great beginner’s guide to makeup. Inside you’ll find out what are hooded eyes, what are the best ways to flatter them, how to blend, a brush guide, and of course tutorials. I also include troubleshooting tips. What people love the most about my book is that it’s a book with unfiltered real results on real people. Every brand featured is cruelty-free.

2. In Intimate Detail

In Intimate Detail by Cora Harrington is everything I ever wanted to know about lingerie. It’s such a thorough, gorgeous guide. It’s helped me to try buying lingerie again for the first time in a decade. If you love this book you need to check out The Lingerie Addict, Cora’s blog.

3. 30 Braids in 30 Days

30 Braids in 30 Days by Christina Butcher is a beautiful book filled with ideas to try new braids you’ll love. Christina also has another book that is 30 Hairstyles in 30 days for even more hair inspiration. You can find out more at Christina’s blog, Hair Romance.

4. Your Beauty Mark

Your Beauty Mark by Dita Von Teese is an inspirational book. Dita shares how to create your own signature style and really encourages you to embrace your own unique beauty.

5. 500 Makeup Designs

500 Makeup Designs by Kendra Stanton is a fun collection of makeup ideas to inspire you for every occasion. Kendra has a great blog at Citizens of Beauty.

6. The Compassionate Chick’s Guide to DIY Beauty

The Compassionate Chick’s Guide to DIY Beauty by Sunny Subramanian. I love Sunny’s book! I love the self-improvement tips and the cruelty-free beauty recipes! It’s especially helpful that it includes shelf life for the DIY products you make. You can find more great vegan beauty from Sunny at Vegan Beauty Review.

7. Nail Candy

Nail Candy by Donna and Ginny Geer. This is an enjoyable nail art book with easy designs for beginners to indulge in.

8. Makeup Makeovers in 5, 10, 15 and 20 Minutes

Makeup Makeovers in 5, 10, 15 and 20 Minutes by Robert Jones. I bought this book to learn how to makeup artists build looks in 5, 10 and 15 minutes. It’s another good beginner’s book.

9. Gothic Charm School

Gothic Charm School by Jillian Venters. I love Jillian to bits and have been following her for years. Her book is a great guide to being Goth in all situations. Wondering how to handle your family, friends, or strangers criticizing you being Goth, how you dress or your makeup? This book will help you navigate it with grace! You can find out even more about the Goth subculture, beauty and fashion at The Gothic Charm School Blog. (If you can manage to get your hands on it, Voltaire’s What is Goth? book is still an all-time favorite of mine)

10. Some Wear Leather, Some Wear Lace

Some Wear Leather, Some Wear Lace by Andi Harriman. I LOVE this book because it really helps you to see more of a worldwide view of what is goth. I love how it discusses the 80s post-punk Goth movement with lots of photos from people in the scene you know and many you won’t!

11. DIY Beauty: Easy, All-Natural Recipes Based on Your Favorites!

DIY Beauty by Ina De Clercq. This is such a cool book with DIY recipes inspired by Sephora, The Body Shop’s Body Butter, Burt’s Bees lip balm, Lush’s bath bombs, e.l.f.’s blemish treatments, La Mer’s The Body Creme, NARS Multiple Sticks and more.

  1. So proud of you still for publishing your book! I also like the sound of the DIY recipe and Nail Candy books!

  2. I’m always looking for new books in my areas of interest. You hit the nail on the head with most of these for me. And I still love that you have written your own book. That’s quite the accomplishment.

  3. I think your book is outstanding. I still plan on doing a giveaway for one since everyone should have one. The only other one I have on my list that’s also on yours is 500 Makeup Designs and that too is so inspiring.
