Sugarpill Kim Chi Look

Sugarpill Kim Chi Look

TGIF! Today I’m sharing my Sugarpill Kim Chi look. This color was created with Sugarpill by Kim Chi, Chicago-based drag queen and live-action anime character. It’s described as an intensely saturated electric teal with a silky smooth matte finish. It’s a vegan shade, too.

So for this look, I couldn’t decide on a blush shade. I lightly contoured my cheeks with Glamour Doll Eyes Skeletina (a grey taupe with orange overlay). Then I used Aromaleigh Minerva (soft pink with peach tones and blue and copper shimmer), which is gorgeous and delicate but felt like it needed a bit more color. I grabbed My Pretty Zombie Oxycodone (blue violet with pink sparks), and still wasn’t quite happy. I grabbed Femme Fatale Creeping Coffin (midtone purple with golden sheen) and then felt like I had the color I wanted. I realized as I was typing this up that the blush ended up reminding me of my MAC Azalea Blossom.

The DIY highlighter I made is a mix of TKB Hilite Blue, Hilite Violet, and Moon Light. I think it’s actually quite lovely. I used it to highlight my cheeks.

For my lips I started with Urban Decay 24/7 lip pencil in Pandemonium (purple). I put Urban Decay Vice lipstick in Heroine on top, blotted, put another layer on. Then I took a brush and patted my DIY highlighter onto my lips. I did use my MAC Grape pencil (purchased when MAC was cruelty free) around the edges of the lips. This color turned out amazing. It reminds me a bit of Melt Lewd.

I used my DIY pressed Lucy Minerals foundation. I finally filmed the important part of how to press that foundation, so now I just need to film the part where I talk about what I did, or make it a voice over, or split screen or something.

I’ve had many of you request a tutorial for this look, so I will work on that! To play around with how I did it, I put down a light dusting of Tako, on the hood and browbone. I then took Kim Chi and put it down the way I’d put down a transitional shade on the hood and connected it to my lower lid. I used Poison Plum on top of Kim Chi in the smoky dome shape, mixing in a bit of Kim Chi to make it more blue / purple. I applied Grand Tiara with UD All Nighter to the lid. Then I put a tiny bit of Lumi with All Nighter on the inner half of the lid. I used Bulletproof to smudge along the roots of the upper lashes and line the upper lash line. I also smudged Bulletproof at the lower lash line. I winged Bulletproof out rather thickly, then though I screwed it up, so I blended it into a smoky wing and realized I loved it. I used a bit of Poison Plum on the lower lash line. I put UD Zero on the lower waterline and then patted Bulletproof on top. I highlighted at the inner corner and under the brows with Lumi.

Any big plans this weekend? We’re heading to a friend’s birthday party but that’s about it.
