Get Glowy Skin
The glowy skin look on page 42 is one I love to embrace. For glowy skin start with a freshly moisturized face. Then you want to grab an illuminating primer. Two of my favorites are Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer and Cover FX Illuminating Primer. Nyx Angel Veil primer is a great budget friendly option. Apply your foundation. Today I used Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Snow mixed with a white foundation elixir to better match my skin. I match my foundation to my neck and chest, rather than my face, since my face has redness from rosacea. I apply my foundation with a damp beauty blender, but you can use a makeup sponge. Then use an illuminating setting powder. I used Silk Naturals Close-Up. For extra glow, use an illuminizer. I used Dose of Colors Pearl Dust.
- Moisturize – Glossier Priming Moisturizer
- Illuminating Primer – Hourglass Mineral Veil
- Foundation – Too Faced Born This Way Foundation (v)
- Illuminating Setting Powder – Silk Naturals Close-Up Illuminating Powder (v)
Metallic Cat Eye
Inspired by the golden metallic cat eye on page 143, I wanted to recreate it in rose gold. You could easily recreate this with silver, gold or copper if rose gold isn’t your thing. Always start with eyeshadow primer. Then use a base eyeshadow shade. I applied Urban Decay Walk of Shame. I worked Colour Pop Creme Gel Colour in Get Paid (a metallic rose gold) on to the lid. I applied a soft wash of Too Faced Peanut Butter into the crease and on the hood of the eye. I lined the lash line with Colour Pop Creme Gel Colour in Over Board (warm metallic bronze) and created a little cat eye flick. I finished with a coat of tarte Lights Camera Lashes mascara. You can always use false lashes instead.
- Prime – Too Faced Shadow Insurance Champagne.
- Base – apply a skintone base shade. I used Urban Decay Walk of Shame.
- Lid Shade – Colour Pop Get Paid just on the lids. (v)
- Crease Shade – blend Too Faced Peanut Butter softly into the crease
- Cat Eye Flick – line the outer upper and outer lower lash line with Colour Pop Over Board. Finish with mascara. (v)
Red Holiday Lips
Page 151 has gorgeous red lips, which are classic and timeless. I wanted to bring you red lips with a bit of a twist. I love Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. I’ve been living in their Colour Pencils for years, and now that they’ve got their RTWs (Ready to Wears) out, I often reach for them. To create beautiful red lips, I layered products. I started with OCC Black Dahlia pencil. Then I mixed RTWs in Black Metal Dahlia and Hollywood together and applied that to my lips. I blotted. You can always stop at this point, but I wanted extra sparkle. I dabbed a bit of OCC Lemarchand right at the center of the lips for extra dimension.
- Prep – exfoliate and moisturize.
- Pencil – line and fill in with Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Black Dahlia or NSFW Colour Pencil. (v)
- Lipstick – Mix OCC RTWs in Black Metal Dahlia and Hollywood together and then apply to the lips. Blot. (v)
- Sparkle – For extra holiday bling, dab a bit of OCC Lemarchand at the center of the lips. (v)
With these tutorials you can get your perfect holiday look, whether you want glowy skin, red lips, or metallic eyes. For more makeup looks check out my easy holiday party beauty ideas.
