The Physicians Formula Butter Highlighters are a cream to powder formula. They’re almost bouncy in feel. Physicians Formula claims that they’re one-swipe with ultra-refined pearls and soft focus pigments to smooth skin texture, brighten skintone and deliver a gorgeous highlight. They have a delicious subtle tropical scent. They’re available in 4 shades – Pearl, Champagne, Rose Gold and Pink.
The packaging top twists open and shut, allowing you to keep these tightly closed. I would recommend storing them upside down too, with the label facing upwards.
Physicians Formula Butter Highlighters Swatches
Pearl, my favorite, has a white base with pink and gold reflects. Champagne is a light champagne gold, more gold than champagne beige. Rose Gold is a metallic rose gold. Pink is a light pink.
Wearing Pearl
I think it looks very beautiful and glowy on my face in the above photo.
I personally find one swipe of the Butter Highlighter to be too subtle for my taste. Pearl’s color is perfect for me, but I do like to build it up. I recommend applying it with your fingertips and then use a damp beauty blender if you need help blending it out.
The Physicians Formula Butter Highlighters have a subtle tropical scent similar to the Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer. (You may want to check out my Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer review.) I find it fades pretty fast, but I also enjoy the tropical coconut smell. If you are sensitive to scents or don’t like the Murumuru Butter Bronzer, you will most likely not enjoy these.
If you want a subtle highlight for the office, I think Pearl is a great choice. You can build it up or use it as a base for other highlighters. This pairs beautifully with Kat Von D Thunderstruck layered on top of it to intensify the sheen.
If you typically have a heavy hand with highlighters and need something to keep you from going overboard, I think you’ll love this formula.
What do you think of the Physicians Formula Butter Highlighters?
I like Pearl and Pink, now I just need to find them in stores!
I adore Physicians Formula, they are one if my favorite drugstore Cruelty free brands. I’m going to pick up all them.
They all look pretty. I will check out rose gold
My favourite is Pearl too. I wish it didn’t contain any synthetic fragrance though… Anyway, thanks for your swatches, they’re really helpful.
I’ve never used a highlighter because of my oily skin but, dang, those shades are so pretty!
Beautiful shades. I want them all but I know the fragrance won’t allow me to wear them. Your swatches are divine.
I’m DYING to try these. I think I need the pink first!
These are SO GORGEOUS! I love the finish, and the pink must be mine!
I have been standing in front of the display several times but come away with nothing because they don’t have all 4 shades. Seeing your swatches is super helpful. I really want the pink but I wish I could find it in the stores, same with Pearl.
These are gorgeous! Thanks for getting swatches up so quickly. Pearl is my favorite, I think.
Courtney, I know the other 3 shades are too dark to work as a highlight on your skin tone, but would any of them work for you as a glowy blush?
And am I imagining things or are you wearing them on your eyes here? It’s a very pretty look on you, which I think would be office friendly for most.
I think they could work for a glowy blush! I don’t often wear really shimmery blushes because of texture on my cheek. But a satin blush I can manage. The eyeshadow look is from here https://phyrra.net/cruelty-free-makeup-good-cubed.html
This is definitely an office-friendly makeup look 🙂 Thank you!
