Disappointing Makeup Video

What I’m Wearing

  • bareMinerals barePRO Powder foundation in Dawn
  • Urban Decay Afterglow Blush in Rapture
  • Urban Deay Afterglow Highlighter in Aura
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil in Hex
  • Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Hex (finally bought this lipstick and I love it!)
  • Nudestix Brow Stylus in BrownBlack
  • KBShimmer Royal To A Fault (nails)
  • Bunny Paige Fuchsia Spiked Heart Necklace

I got my eyelashes refilled today, so no fun eyeshadow look for me. However, I did get to wear Hex lipstick for the first time (I just recently bought it from Ulta) and I love it! It’s such a fabulous color.

Last night, I met up with fellow beauty blogger Heather from Crazy Beautiful Makeup and took her to dinner. We went to the Moon Under Water in St. Pete and had a great time. She seemed to be enjoying Tampa / St. Pete. If you ever get a chance to go down to St. Pete, you should walk around and take a look at the cool art sculptures. There are a lot of weird / funny ones like the gator lady and elephant on roller skates. My favorite piece is the O Wave sculpture created by Gordon Huether. It has beautiful glass panels that are blue, pink and purple. I need to go back during the daytime to get a photo of it.

Have you tried any of these disappointing products? Do you know of a vegan eyeshadow primer that won’t crease on my oily hooded lids? What’s the stinkiest makeup product you’ve ever tried? How stinky does something have to be for you to give up on it?

  1. You are so right, every single YouTube video using the Morphe pallet says how incredible it is. I hear ya !!! So I bought the one with the plums 305P and it really was not great. A lot of colors are the same and they just don’t blend well blend. Some of the shades in the pallet are good but it mostly hard to blend. I’m so glad I’m not the only one that feels that way about them . The brushes are good though. Thank you

  2. Morphe is overhyped. I prefer shadows made in the USA. I do like some of their brushes. I went to their store years ago( before all the hype) and they had really great brushes that they were discontinuing. Love them.

    1. I don’t have any of their brushes and didn’t buy any, but I’ve heard mixed things about them too. I really love my UD brushes, goss brushes, makeup geek brushes, and real techniques brushes.

  3. I don’t believe I own anything from Morphe, but glad that I watched your video because I will probably skip it. I have been disappointed with Tarte lately – so I won’t be buying from them for a while I’m sure.

    1. People kept telling me that the Morphe palettes are much better than the singles, so I bought the KathleenLights collaboration palette, but it’s not here yet.

  4. That’s so cool that you got to meet Heather! I really dislike having makeup purchase regrets– they are a frustrating waste of hard-earned money! I haven’t tried any of your regrets, but I won’t likely bother now!

  5. I have never been tempted to by Morphe because it looked too good to be true – all those eye shadows for such a small price. Plus the way they were flogged (raved about) made me suspicious. A few readers on Temptalia complained about them (as a warning to others…) So not tempted.
I haven’t really had many products I have regretted buying because I research well.

  6. I haven’t tried many indie primers, but Concrete Minerals does (or did… it’s been a while) one that I really loved. I don’t know if it’s vegan, but on my deep set semi-hooded eyes it performs as well as UD primer.

    1. All of Concrete Minerals products are vegan but I think hers creased on me when I last tried it. I have very hooded, very oily lids.

  7. I wanted to try the Tarte but I’m not happy with their business practices and now I won’t even pursue finding this. With Morphe I’ve been tempted but I always worried that they’d be more like the inexpensive palettes you find on ebay.

    1. I just find it a appalling that they can’t keep products in stock. I’m also shocked that my concealer was ‘off’ and oxidized. I’ve NEVER had a concealer oxidize before.

  8. Have you tried Geek Chic Cosmetics Power UP primer? It’s vegan and has worked really well for me.

  9. I’ve only gotten palettes, but my experience is that Morphe is hit or miss. Their shimmers/foils are pretty good. Mattes are patchy and not very good color payoff—the browns in the palette have very little color variation. You have to work and build it up. It’s not a horrible deal, but it’s disappointing because you end up with several shadows that are work or kind of useless.

    1. Yeah most of the singles I bought were mattes. I bought what I thought were good neutrals, and they just were not easy to work with in my experience.

  10. Glad you and Heather got together! What fun. I’ve been hearing so many raves about the Tarte shape tape concealer. Gotta watch the video and find out why it disappointed
