From left to right we have Fair 01, Dawn 02 and Champagne 03.

Before & After with Fair 01

Fair 01 is for fair skin with pink undertone. I think it’s easy to see how my face looks pink from the foundation while my neck looks more yellow toned. This is why I don’t like to wear pink toned foundation, as I just feel it makes me look like something is off.

Before & After with Dawn 02

Dawn 02 is for fair skin with neutral undertone. This one works pretty well with my skintone. I think it’s my favorite of the three. If only it were a touch lighter!

Before & After with Champagne 03

Champagne 03 is for fair skin with yellow undertone. I think this one works ok as it hides the redness on my face from rosacea and works with the yellow I see on my neck.

I think it’s probably easier to see how the shades are sort of off on my hand than on my face in the studio photos. Above you can see that Fair looks light enough but slightly the wrong color / too cool. Dawn and Champagne are both slightly darker than my hand. I had to really pile on the swatches to make them show up because this powder just wants to blend into your skin.

What I don’t like about it
None of the shades are quite pale enough for me. I can wear Dawn 02 and Champagne 03 but my face looks a little darker than my neck once I’ve applied the color all over. Dawn and Champagne do blend into my face really well. I have a lot of facial redness from my rosacea that can make my face appear darker than my neck and chest, which is why I match my foundation to my neck and chest. So once I’ve applied the foundation all over, it’s noticeable to me that my face looks darker..

It also hasn’t lasted 12 hours on me. I get about 5 to 6 hours of wear and then I need to touch up the center of my face. I don’t know why they claim 12 hours of wear when it just doesn’t seem to make it that long.

What I like about it
I love that this foundation comes in 30 different shades. So happy that it’s not 30 shades of beige, either! It looks like bareMinerals is trying to be inclusive and offering shades for darker skintones too, which is great.

As I mentioned above, I get about 5 to 6 hours of wear and then I need to touch up my nose and chin, which is where I normally need to touch up. I can touch up with this foundation without any issues. The core brush makes it easy to apply a thin layer and when I go back to touch it up it blends in without any caking. So yes, cake free!

For me to cover my redness with rosacea, I need to apply 1 layer all over and then add a second layer on my cheeks and nose. After I do this, I feel like it still looks like it’s my skin, rather than cake face. I really love the core coverage brush that bareMinerals recommends you use with this foundation. It makes it easy to apply a thin, even layer of product. The angled shape makes it easy to get around the eyes, nose and brows. The brush has the perfect amount of give too.

BareMinerals barePRO Powder Foundation the perfect sort of quick and easy throw it on foundation to run errands or if you want a quick, simple look. It literally feels like I’m wearing  nothing at all. It doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin or cause me to break out. I have dry skin but this doesn’t emphasize any dry patches. I did notice that if I apply too much under the eyes it can emphasize the fine lines there, but as long as I only sweep under there once, I’m fine.

If Dawn were a bit lighter, I’d be in love with this foundation, even though it does require a touch up during the day. Let me know if you’d like to see me do a wear test video with this one. I’ve filmed my Nyx wear test but need to edit it and I’ve promised to do the Hot Makeup foundation stick wear test next.

  1. Am I correct in thinking that Dawn and Champagne are about the same depth but different undertones? Fair is definitely too pink for me as well.

    1. Yes. Dawn and Champagne are the same depth. They’re both deeper than Fair. If they were the same depth as Fair I think I could wear them without issue.

  2. Nice to read the review and see the difference in the colors on you. It helps so we dont waste $$ on items that dont work. I love the brush as well and have some of their products. I had laser done for the rosacea what a difference it makes not expensive and recovery is quick too.

    1. Which laser treatment did you have? I’ve had 7 IPL treatments and really need to go back for either another IPL treatment or something new.

  3. I’m super late to the party here, but I was curious if you had ever used MAC Studio Fix Powder + Foundation and if this would be similar at all? The MAC is my go-to – it looks a little powdery when I first apply it, but once my natural oils start to come through (20-30 minutes), it just melds into my skin and looks like I’m not wearing anything, just have really great skin. It’s been my HG for years, but MAC isn’t CF… so I’m always on the hunt for something similar! I tried the IT Cosmetics powder foundation, but it never seemed to stop looking powdery, plus it oxidized on me something fierce, which I’d never had happen before. I had a pretty good color match in the loose BM foundation, but I itched like crazy when I wore it, so I finally gave up.

Dawn looks awesome on you – doesn’t look like you’re wearing anything! I have some trouble with this myself, so I take the foundation down my neck to my collar. It’s easy with a powder foundation – I wouldn’t attempt it with a liquid or cream! 🙂

    1. I used to use MAC Studio Fix Powder + Foundation but it’s been years. I think this looks better. It rarely looks powdery, especially if you apply it in circles / sparingly.

  4. I see what you mean about the different foundation coverages. I find that if I have a yellow based fair (as I did back in the day when I and most MUA had no idea) I turn brown or orangey brown by the end of the day. Fair pink, works the best.
These foundations, overall, look lovely on you and I thought the second one (neutral) was the best – if only it was a Fair Neutral. Personally, I don’t think many foundations work as long as they say they do.

  5. How did you know I was just looking at powder foundations today?? I used to wear powders a lot; my favorite was the Powder Buff foundation from Mark/Avon. I just tried a sample of Urban Decays powder foundation and the finish blurred my pores like whoa, but it’s just not enough coverage for me. I too have roseacea redness and lots of breakouts I want to cover. So I was looking at the NYX Stay Matte Not Flat powder and thinking I’ll give it a go. I do like the looks of these BE ones but I’m betting they’re much pricier. Always interested in your reviews since we share some similar skin issues. Thanks for the review!

  6. Powder foundations never last in the middle of my face more than about 6 hours so this would be fine for me. I love how well it covers your rosacea.

  7. In the pictures you look flawless but I get how you don’t want your face to be a different color than your neck. Otherwise it’s great that they offer 30 shades.

  8. Great review! The finish looks beautiful. I have not yet tried this foundation, so this is very helpful. I’m a huge fan of the Original loose powder foundation.

  9. bareMinerals loose powder foundation use to be my go to, and I loved it for the way it covered my dark spots. I tried their pressed powder foundation when it first launched about 4 years ago, but I couldn’t find a good color match. The shade I bought never worked for me so I can understand your sort of frustration for not being able to get a perfect match. But with 30 shades, it might be time for me to take a look.
