Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation and Primer Review
Today I’ve got my Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation and Primer review video to share with you. This is another installment of my pale skin foundation series. I tested out the Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo foundation in Light 42 (pale with pink undertone), which is currently available in 20 shades (but I think some new ones are launching soon). I also tried out the Kat Von D Lock-It Featherweight Primer. Both of these products are cruelty free and 100% vegan.

Pale Skin Foundation Series
I personally found that the featherweight primer made the Lock-It Tattoo foundation much easier to apply and more comfortable to wear. I love that both products are fragrance free and did not irritate my sensitive skin.
Let me know what you think of the Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo foundation and Lock-It Featherweight primer below.
This is my favorite foundation of all time. I have oily skin and my skin tone is medium. I’ve never found a medium color that blends in so perfectly with my yellow undertones without making me look like I’m wearing a mask. The matte finish is also a plus!
I’ve been meaning to try this out! I wonder if it would sit any better on my oily skin? Maybe mix it with the Cover FX infusion drops I already have…
I know the pale skin struggle, hooray for pale color ranges! I just got the KVD white concealer that I can’t wait to play with too!
<3
I’ve been using this and like it, but because of the thickness I usually cut it with moisturizer
I have only tried this once and I too thought it was very thick and hard to spread. It looked a lot easier when you mixed it with the primer though!
This would be a foundation that I would like to try as it is pale with pink undertones. How long did it last on you in sunny weather?
I have tried to make this foundation work for me several times, but it just lays horribly on my dry areas! I love the coverage though.
This sounds like a good foundation… something great for the winter too. I love that there are samples available and such a good range of shades.
I’ve not heard much about this foundation, but it looks a great match for your skintone.
I definitely do want to try this, so I may pick up a sample next time I’m at Sephora! Thanks for the review! <3
I’ve never really been interested in trying this, but it does look really natural on your skin in photos.
I wanted a sample of this at Sephora but the MA working thought it was too full coverage for me and suggested I try other lines. I like a light to medium coverage so maybe she was right but I still wish I’d tried it myself.
I’ve heard so many mixed reviews about this foundation and I totally didn’t think to get a sample from Sephora. I think I might try that to see how I like it on me.
Oooh! Yes, that looks very different than it did on video.
I may ask for a sample next time I’m at Sephora.
I try very hard to get things to look true to life on camera, but I still struggle with my video. My lights are constant but the camera auto adjusts / focuses and that changes the light on me making it appear lighter or darker at times.
I’ll look at the shades next time I’m at Sephora. When I purchased it, I applied it over Hourglass Veil Primer, I think, and I don’t remember it being too difficult to apply. Who knows, maybe I used my fingers? Interesting that it does best mixed with primer. Hmmm
I really, really want to try this formula!
I already nattered my head off in your video comments. 😀
this is the only foundation that I’ve found that’s a color match for me- I’m extremely pale with pink undertones and I was so excited when I found it. but like you, I found it was really thick and cakey! 🙁 I have pretty dry skin so that doesn’t help. mixing it with a water-based primer sounds like it might help though, maybe I’ll finally invest in a beauty blender too and see if that helps too haha.
I definitely found it to be much easier to apply with the primer mixed in. It completely reversed my opinion on the foundation, which in the past I thought it was not for me. Let me know how it works for you. I had several of my MUA friends recommend that I apply this foundation with my finger tips, then go back over it with the damp beauty blender. They said that the hands help to warm up the product and make it spread easier too.
