I was recently asked, is Pond’s cruelty-free? I hadn’t heard the name Pond’s in years, but I was pretty sure the answer would be no. I have fond memories of my grandma using Pond’s cold cream to remove her makeup after church at night.

Who owns Pond’s?

Pond’s is owned by Unilever. Unilever is not a cruelty-free company.

Does Unilever own any cruelty-free brands?

At the very least, the following brands owned by Unilever are cruelty free – Dermalogica, Murad, REN, Shea Moisture, Seventh Generation, Schmidt’s Naturals, and Nubian Heritage. Seventh Generation, Dermalogica and Schmidt’s Naturals are all 3 Leaping Bunny certified.

What is Pond’s Animal Testing Policy?

Pond’s uses a wide range of non-animal approaches to assess the safety of its products for consumers, and Pond’s does not test our products on animals.

What is Unilever’s Animal Testing Policy?

We do not test our products on animals and are committed to ending animal testing. Unilever has complied with the EU animal testing bans for cosmetics since 2004 and supports calls for similar bans to be introduced globally.

Occasionally, across our portfolio, some of the ingredients we use have to be tested by our suppliers to comply with legal and regulatory requirements in some markets; and some governments test certain products on animals as part of their regulations

Is Pond’s PETA Certified?

No.

No.

So is Pond’s Cruelty-free?

No. Pond’s is still testing on animals somewhere in the world. They’re sold in at least 45 different countries (trying to get a list of where all they’re sold from Pond’s).
