Geek Chic Cosmetics Strange Aeons Collection Review and Swatches

I love the Lovecraft Mythos. I think I’ve read at least 3 or 4 different compilations during high school, and again in college, and again when I worked for the game company. The mythos has always intrigued, scared and delighted me. I’ve even seen some of the really bad movies based on the mythos, like Dagon. I’ve played on a MUD with heavy Lovecraft influences. And I’ve played the tabletop role-playing game based on it, Call of Cthulhu. Allow me introduce you to the newest collection from Geek Chic CosmeticsStrange Aeons. All of the shades in this collection are vegan and cruelty-free. I swatched these on bare skin with no primer.

Geek Chic Cosmetics Strange Aeons HP Lovecraft Influenced

Inspired by HP Lovecraft

This is such a lovely Halloween collection! Perfect for Fall, too, as it has almost all my favorite shades for this time of year. It has an aged gold, a teal-blue, an olive green, a glowing copper, a rich wine, unique silver, and semi-sheer multi-sparkle black. If Daemoniac were a deeper purple, it would be perfect!

GCC Madness, Non-Euclidean, Blasphemous Swatch

Madness has brought you here to me. I shall be your undoing!

Geek Chic Cosmetics Cyclopean, Eldritch, Daemonic Swatch

The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.

Geek Chic Cosmetics Antequarian, Madness, Non-Euclidean Swatch

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents… some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age.

Geek Chic Cosmetics Antediluvian, Cyclopean, Eldritch Swatch

Those who oppose him will be destroyed utterly, and those who serve — who serve wholly, unquestioningly, with utter devotion of mind and soul — elevated to heights beyond your ken.

Geek Chic Cosmetics Non-Euclidean, Blasphemous Swatch

I have seen the dark universe yawning, where the black planets roll without aim, where they roll in their horror unheeded,
Without knowledge, or lustre, or name.

Geek Chic Cosmetics Blasphemous Swatch 2

At night, when the objective world has slunk back into its cavern and left dreamers to their own, there come inspirations and capabilities impossible at any less magical and quiet hour. No one knows whether or not he is a writer unless he has tried writing at night.

I believe that Geek Chic Cosmetics will have the Strange Aeons Collection available for purchase on October 1, 2012.

The shadows individually will most likely cost $5.99.

Most of the quotes are from HP Lovecraft, but I threw in a few others that are favorites of mine.

You can expect to see some looks from me with this collection soon. What do you think of it? Which shades are your favorite?

Products sent for consideration. All opinions are my own.

  1. Madness and Daemoniac <3 … and I know this is a beauty blog but I want to ask you approximately 1000 questions about your work for “the game company” (: I’ve worked in games journalism for years, and I’m a mega geek. PS the last Call of Cthulhu tabletop I played in we successfully stopped the ritual in the convent only to die/go crazy and learn from the DM that there was a second ritual in the library. So Lovecraft, amirite?

  2. My husband loves HP Lovecraft and I even got him a statue of Cthulhu last year. These colors are amazing and they look really pigmented.

  3. I am so happy to find these new brands on your channel as I am trying to get out of the “mold” so people can try more on my channel. I love how you introduce new brands. At this time I am drooling over all, but especially Madness and Antequarian. I also love the duochrome on some of the colors. What the heck? I love them all. I also love to receive the samples in the 5 gm jars. I need a secret for getting my baggie samples into the jars without making a mess:) I cannot work out of the baggies, but the products on the other brand are beautiful also. Thanks for showing us all of these. Have a great week!

  4. Blasphemous is win sauce! I’m so in love with the idea of strong rainbow sparkles!

  5. I’ve been excited about this line, as I love both Geek Chic and Lovecraft. And the shades look amazing too. Apropos of nothing, I highly recommend (if you can find it) “Cast a Deadly Spell”, was an early ’90’s HBO film, spoofing noir & Lovecraft. Excellent, had Fred ward, Julianne Moore  & the actor who was the Kurgan in Highlander.  A little cheesy, but really has the genres down enough to poke gentle but respectful fun.

  6. Gah, I can’t decide which ones to get first!! ><I love Cyclopean and Eldritch though they may not look terribly good on my eyes!

    1. noholosblog I think Eldritch might be a sort of universally flattering type shade, since it’s an olive green, but it’s got gold going on. Cyclopean can be harder to pull off.
