Today I wanted to talk about the The Empress Tea Room in Tampa. The Empress Tea Room is my favorite place to go for brunch or high tea. I love going there on the weekends with my friends. This past weekend I went with Ray and Dave and our close friends. It was the first time that the guys (except Ray), had been. I don’t think the other guys really knew what to expect.
Between the 7 of us we have a lot of dietary requirements. The Empress Tea Room is great at accommodating requests. Dave has to eat gluten free. I don’t eat pork, so I order vegetarian there and Ray does the same. Two of our friends also ordered vegetarian and two ordered the regular high tea.
We were served two different types of tea to start. The first was a coconut almond vanilla white tea. The other tea was a pomegranate green tea. The tea cups are varied around the restaurant. I believe you can purchase the tea sets if you like them.
Tea and scones are served with sugar cubes, Devonshire cream and jam.
I typically drink my tea without sugar or cream.
Since it was a late Sunday brunch, I indulged in a pomegranate mimosa. It was delicious!
High Tea, which is what we usually order, comes with tea, tea sandwiches, scones, fresh fruit, a mini cupcake and chocolate dipped strawberry. The Gentleman’s Tea has double the number of tea sandwiches. The sandwiches I ate were cucumber and dill, and pear and Gorgonzola. I love both of these, they’re so delicious!
If you need more food, you can always order soups, salads or other additional sandwiches. They have a pretty good menu.
The scones are pretty large. They’re definitely on the dry side, so I like to slather mine in Devonshire cream and jam.
I always enjoy the mini-cupcake and chocolate dipped strawberry. Then again, I do love my chocolate.
What I love best about the tea room experience is being able to sit and talk with my friends. It’s such a unique atmosphere.
I did really light makeup and bright lips. Wearing Kat Von D Light 42 powder, Urban Decay X-Rated blush, Makeup Geek Celestial highlighter. I lined my lips with Kat Von D Sexer pencil. I mixed KVD Backstage Bambi, L.U.V. and White Out together to make a slightly lighter pink lip. (What I’m wearing is a mix of PR + purchased by me.)
J is wearing a KMKDesigns Gothic Lolita outfit. I’m wearing a CowCow Ravens Woods Dress, Demonia Platform Sandals, and Bunny Paige Dragonfly Necklace.
I love wearing cute dresses when we come here. J & I both felt cute today in our respective outfits.

Thank you for this post! My husband and I both must eat gluten free and like vegan if we can have that also, although we’re not vegan. We travel a fair amount so it’s nice to have these bits of info.
