Best Ways to Clean Your Pores for Sensitive Skin

Hi there! Today I’m going to share my best ways to clean your pores for sensitive skin. If you have sensitive skin, you can easily over exfoliate and exacerbate any skin conditions that you have (like my rosacea). I’ve done this in the past and it’s never fun! I wanted to share with you the ways I like to keep my pores clean and my face exfoliated. This keeps away the dry patches that makeup could cling to. It also makes your pores appear smaller, because they’re cleaned out.

Pr + purchased by me.

You need to exfoliate so that you keep your pores clean. Basically, dead skin cells accumulate in your pores as your cells turn over. You need to keep your pores cleaned out or they get clogged up with the dead cells. Clogged pores lead to breakouts. Yuck.

Clarisonic Mia
The Clarisonic Mia (see my review) helps to penetrate deeply into your pores to clean them out. However, even its softest brush head is still harder on the skin than the Foreo Luna. So if you have normal skin, this is a good choice for you, but if you have sensitive skin, you need to make sure you can handle the Mia. I used it for years and I loved it. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the Foreo Luna is much gentler on my skin. Try the Delicate brush head if you have sensitive skin.
Initial cost – $125 (I bought mine during a 20% off sale at Sephora)
Yearly cost – $100 ($25 per brush head, to be replaced every 3 months, I would stock up on brush heads during Nordstrom’s 20% off sale)

Foreo Luna
I am in love with the Foreo Luna (see my review) a multi-purpose wonder machine! It a cleanser, exfoliator and spa massager all in one! It’s made of soft silicone that is ultra-hygienic, making it perfect for sensitive skin. It . It has up to 8,000 sonic pulsations per minute, cleansing the skin deeply and gently without the abrasive rotary scouring. So this deep cleans my pores, yet it doesn’t irritate my skin. And it gives a great spa facial massage. Love!
Lifetime cost – $199

My Konjac Sponge
I adore the My Konjac Sponge (see my review) and I use it twice daily. I use it once in the morning when I’m cleansing and then I use it at night to take off my face makeup. It’s gentle on my skin. Basically this gently exfoliates my face every time I use it, yet it doesn’t irritate my skin. It’s perfect.
Initial cost – $10
Yearly cost – $40 ($10 per sponge, to be replaced every 3 months)

Ellen Lange Peel
The Ellen Lange Retexturizing Skin Peel Kit (see my review) is amazing. It’s like getting a professional peel to remove layers of skin, debris. It combines glycolic, microbeads and enzymes to remove dull skin and reveal healthy, vibrant skin. This at home chemical peel kit contains 10% Glycolic. 5% in the peel accelerator pads and 4% in the peel solution.
Initial Cost– $79 for 8 peels (depends how often you use it)
Yearly Cost – $158 (for 2 kits)

Now, these methods will also work for normal skin, though if you have normal skin I recommend you use a different brush head if you’re using the Clarisonic Mia. I just wanted to emphasize products that I know work well for my sensitive skin. I think when you have sensitive skin, you’re sometimes afraid to try products (I was worried about the Clarisonic Mia) because you’re worried you’ll have a reaction. I think everyone would love the Foreo Luna. I know I’m going to try an experiment where I use it daily, twice a day, and see if my skin can handle that.

  1. I was gifted the Mia last year for Xmas and I love it! I use the sensitive brush for most of the year, but switch to the delicate brush in the winter when my skin is more dry.

  2. My last Ellen Lange peel kit lasted for 10 peels and kept my skin looking incredible! I’m happy to see you recommended it!

  3. I looked into that Ellen Lange Peel. Even though they are against animal testing, they use polyethylene as a microbead. This is still very bad for the animals. Just google it. I do not want to use anything with micro plastics.

  4. I have been looking at the Foreo Luna for a while now, although it is a tad pricey it seems very much worth it. I have stubborn blackheads that just wont seem to budge no matter what I do/use. Hopefully this will help?
Thank you for sharing as always <3
