Ingredients
Aminomethyl Propanol, Aqua, Butylene Glycol, Carrageenan, Chromium Oxide Green (CI 77288), Citric Acid, Crithmum Maritimum Extract, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethiconol, Dimethyl Sulfone, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Ethylhexylglycerin, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Glycerin, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Hordeum Distichon (Barley) Extract, Hydrogenated Didecene, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Lactic Acid, Lecithin, Niacin, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, Panax Ginseng (Ginseng) Root Extract, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Phellodendron Amurense Bark Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Polyglyceryl-2 Isostearate, Polyglyceryl-6 Polyricinoleate, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Portulaca Oleracea (Green Purslane) Extract, PPG-12/SMDI Copolymer, Resveratrol, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Extract, Sea Salt, Silica, Sodium Coco-Glucoside Tartrate, Sodium Polymethacrylate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate, Synthetic Beeswax, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Thioctic Acid, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Tocopheryl Acetate
I prefer to apply the Cover FX CC Cream with a damp Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. This allows me to apply it as sheerly or as full coverage as I need, depending upon my finicky skin. If I’m going to apply it with a brush I prefer an angled brush like the Makeup Geek Angled Stippling brush. Right now what I do is moisturize my skin with moisturizer with SPF. I wait 20 minutes. Then I use blotting paper to remove excess shine from my face. I apply a setting powder (NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder or Cover FX Illuminating Setting Powder are great), though you can skip this step if you like. I dot the CC Cream on my cheeks, chin, forehead and nose, then use the damp complexion sponge
The ingredients do not irritate my sensitive, rosacea skin. If you have sensitive skin, this is definitely a foundation to consider.
I love that it is SPF 30 and has physical sunblock – titanium dioxide and zinc oxide in it. The doctor’s office where I’m treated for IPL recommends using physical sunblocks over chemical ones. While I do not reply solely on my makeup for SPF (I rely on my moisturizer with SPF, which is currently Mineral Fusion SPF 40, which also has physical sunblock and is also vegan).
I love that it has licorice root extract in it, which is an anti-aging ingredient. Over time, this helps to reduce and prevent hyperpigmentation. Using SPF daily, plus a skin brightening product like Vitamin C (my current favorite is the Silk Naturals Vitamin C Peptide Serum) and the CC Cream helps me to have a more even and bright complexion.
I think the CC Cream does a great job of melding with my skin and providing me with the coverage I need to fake a flawless complexion. This is why the Cover FX CC Cream is my pick for the best foundation of 2014.
What’s your pick for the best foundation of 2014?

I haven’t tried this one but you look great with it on
Definitely adding this to my must try list for 2015! It looks SO fab on you.
Their BB gel or powder foundation would be my pick for best foundation, too!
This looks fabulous! I’ve just tried out the CoverFX concealer and am impressed with the results.
Your skin looks truly flawless, I NEED this, it sounds like everything I want in a foundation!
This looks great on your skin!
It is definitely a good foundation, I liked it lots.
You always look fantastic. I definitely need to get my hands on Cover FX.
I’ve heard great things about this foundation!
One of the two I chose. I use this all the time. I also use a damp beauty blender or a dampened brush with it.
You do a beautiful job with application. I have this one, but it seems to be just too thick for me to get a nice finish.
Thank you! I honestly think the trick for application is using a damp beauty blender. I think it gives a beautiful finish and coverage that way.
Your skin always looks flawless! I so need to try this!
Definitely!
I KNEW you were going to pick this one!!
You know me well <3
I just can’t seem to get this CC Cream to work for me. It always applies thick and greasy and is hard to blend for some reason. I also purchased the Liquid Foundation Brush to use with this and I hate it. The application is terrible and the liquid sticks in the middle of the bristles and will just not wash out. The best method for me is just using my fingers. I think I am going to try the BB Cream, and hopefully that will work better for me. I do love the Matte Setting Powder.
Before giving up on it, try it with a damp makeup sponge like the Real Technique or the Beauty Blender. You’ll get better application. Or if you want to try a foundation brush, try an angled one. I get the best results with either an angled foundation brush or the damp makeup sponge. I prefer the makeup sponge to brush.
I’m not surprised by this! 🙂 I still have not tried the brand I am behind the times
You’ll love their products 🙂
I knew this would be your favorite!
It makes me feel like I have great skin 🙂
I love CoverFX! They have never disappointed me.
Yay happy to hear it!
Ok, I need to grab this. CoverFX needs to live with me!
Yes you do!
It looks perfect on you. This past summer, I was looking for foundation at Sephora and the MUA felt that she couldn’t find a good match for me in CoverFX, but now that my slight tan is gone, I may take another look
Cover FX actually has one of the best shade ranges of any brand that I’ve tried. 28 shades in their Total Cover Cream, Liquid foundation and Pressed Mineral foundation. The CC cream has like 10 shades (mine is a special shade that isn’t currently offered since N-Xtra Light matches N10).
I agrre that CoverFX shade ranges are expansive, especially for woc. Lately, I’ve been using their mattefx powder
Yeah they are my #1 rec for woc 🙂
How did you manage to get the N-Xtra Light? I just got the N Light, and it’s a gorgeous product, but is just a touch darker than my natural colour.
Hi! Cover FX made me a brand ambassador for them in 2014 and sent me the N Xtra Light so that I wouldn’t have to mix in a white foundation with N-Light to make it match. I hope that they decide to offer N Xtra Light as a foundation option, but I don’t know if they will. I would recommend checking out Life’s Entropy White Foundation Elixir or Face Atelier Zero Minus to mix into your foundations to lighten them.
Lucky girl! Thanks for the suggestions 🙂
I do wish there were more options for fair skin that didn’t require mixing. Illamasqua is pretty good, but they recently stopped distribution in Canada 🙁
If you try the regular foundation products, I bet N10 would match you – like their pressed foundation, liquid foundation or total cover creme. N10 matches me without mixing. But the CC Cream is my favorite, which is why I would mix in Face Atelier or Illamasqua Skin Base 1, or recently the Life’s Entropy. Did you happen to catch my Best Vegan foundation post? I show off a TON of pale foundations there. https://phyrra.net/2014/04/best-vegan-foundations.html
Checking it out now. Thanks again 😉
No problem 🙂
p.s. Cover FX is a canadian brand!
I have never tried Cover FX- well gonna change that in 2015! 🙂 Happy New Year Courtney!
It’s definitely a good thing to change for 2015 🙂
You look flawless! I’m loving their Blemish Treatment BB Gel. The coverage is surprising and it is nice having added prevention/treatment while I over indulge in holiday candies and desserts. My favorite for the year though is absolutely NARS Radiant Cream Compact Foundation. I actually used my entire compact (me? finish something?!) and couldn’t wait to purchase a new one. I especially love it in winter, but the finish and versatility are amazing.
Yay happy to hear you love the BB Gel 🙂
I always think your skin looks flawless, so clearly you know what you’re talking about! 🙂
Aww thanks!
I just knew this was going to be your pick! 🙂 You always look great. 🙂
Thanks so much Jessica 🙂
I have been wanting to try this!
It’s definitely one you need to try 🙂
You are so pretty! Love how your skin looks!
Thanks <3 I feel pretty!
