Does it live up to its claims?
Yes. I really like this lipstick from Avon. I believe I bought my first color from them last year in Golden Wine, and then this year picked up 24k Gold and Golden Rose. I like the texture of the lipsticks and the color payoff, though they’re no Morgana Cryptoria. I like that you can really change the color of these lipsticks easily with whatever lipliner you use.

Would I purchase again?
Yes! I believe I’ve purchased these all on sale, so I’ve paid between $3 and $6 for them but never full price. For the price, they’re really worth it. I love the 3 colors I have. I find them flattering on me. They last fairly well. They do have pretty shine. I really like them.

Have you tried the Avon Ultra Color Rich 24K Gold Lipsticks? What colors did you try? Do you see any colors you like?

Products purchased by me. All opinions are my own.

  1. I’m after a browny pink lipstick, what can you recommend in the 24ct shimmer lipstick. I don’t like orangy pinks or red pinks. Thank you.

    1. I hope they are! I have asuspicion they are because they’ve been out here in the USA for over a year and I do believe that they’re available in the UK.

  2. The swatch of Golden Rose really looks like how a NARS ORgasm lipstick *should* look (I don’t think their lipgloss version really lives up to it)!

If I can find these near me I might just try them … the idea of wearing 24k gold on my lips is oddly exhilarating ^.^

    1. While I think the 24k gold thing is gimmicky, I really do like the color and shimmer 🙂

  3. That 24K gold shade is gorgeous on you! Would you mind doing a peachy look- with peachy blush and lips and a coral eye? I’ve been dying to see one and I think you’d do a great job.

  4. Yes! I just bought Rose Gold when it was on sale. I didn’t even know there was real gold in them until I read it here. I just thought the color was pretty.

  5. Golden Wine looks lovely. I never buy Avon makeup just because some eyeshadows I bought years ago put me off. Zero pigmentation. Might eventually try something else though…

    1. I think they’re probably still hit or miss with eye shadows, but I like these lippies.

  6. Those really are beautiful! I am especially drawn to the golden rose one.
However, I have to admit to being uneasy about seeing a lot of one use products (makeup, cleansers, etc) that include gold, diamond or other rarities being produced in the last year or so. As we’ve seen in mineral makeup there are gorgeous minerals to choose from with all sorts of finishes. Why are companies using really expensive materials that are leading to wars in some sections of the world?
I know part of it it to stand out from the crowd and to appeal to the sense of getting something for much less than it’s worth. But I didn’t think these materials were so plentiful that we can just use them for a day and then get rid of them. In fact, I thought most mining was declining at the same time that more uses are being found for such materials…

    1. I think the gold thing is a gimmick and it has been for a while. This particular lipstick line has been around for over a year. I’m not sure why they chose gold, but I feel the same way about diamonds, which is why I don’t buy them.

  7. Awesome, I was just in the process of placing my order for these : )
Golden Rose and Golden Wine look especially gorgeous on you!
    Hope you’re good xXx

  8. I have three of these, golden wine, ruby in gold and amethyst gold. I agree with everything you’ve said about them, they’re awesome and I love the scent (mine all smell like watermelon!)

Amethyst gold is one of my favourite every day colours.

    1. I don’t know that I can recognize any smell with mine, but I think I’m always so used to smelling vanilla or caramel scents.
