Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonchild Palette

Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonchild Palette Review Swatches Look

Today I wanted to share my swatches and thoughts on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonchild Palette. This is touted as being a Glow Kit. I consider it a multi-purpose palette for the eyes and face. It’s especially pale girl friendly and I also feel like it’s gorgeous for deeper skintones as well, which you can see on Anastasia’s Instagram. Anastasia calls these highlighters magically metallic, giving you a celestial skin finish. I agree!

Wearing Anastasia Blue Ice Highlighter

What I’m Wearing

How to Apply Moonchild Highlighters

To apply the Moonchild shades as cheek highlighters I use either my Real Techniques Setting Brush or my Urban Decay Pro Diffusing Highlighter Brush. You can also apply them damp with a beauty blender. If you want to make the color pop even more, try layering it on top of a cream or liquid highlighter like Milk Supernova Holographic highlighter stick.

How to Apply Moonchild Eyeshadows

To wear these as eyeshadows is pretty easy. Use them on top of eyeshadow primer like a normal eyeshadow, layer them on top of another eyeshadow, or layer them on top of a cream or gel product. So above I show the colors on top of Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Zero, but you could use any black eyeliner that you own.

The Moonchild Packaging

The packaging is simple but pretty. It’s a light blue that fades to white and has a holographic reflect. The back of the packaging lists the ingredients for every single color. It also says made in PRC. Anastasia Beverly Hills is proudly cruelty free. The inside does not have a mirror. It has the Anastasia logo and the name Mooonchild, plus Glow Kit, in holographic silver foil. The lid  has a magnetic closure. While I like the simple packaging without the mirror and the gorgeous holographic foil, if you were going to nitpick about anything with this palette, it would probably be that the packaging is cardboard.

My Thoughts on the Palette

I’m the first one in line to tell someone that, unless you’re a professional makeup artist, I don’t think you need a contour kit with 3 contour shades and 3 matte highlighters. I just don’t think your average person would get use out of every single shade and you’re better off buying individual shades. But when it comes to a highlighter palette like this, I’m all over it. I use colors like this every single day to highlight on my cheeks or around my eyes.

For pale skin like mine, I prefer highlighters with a white base that have an iridescent shift, aka duochromes. So when I saw this palette launch, it was a must-have for me. In this palette, the two shades I’ve worn the most are Blue Ice and Purple Horseshoe. Blue Ice is like a pressed version of my all time favorite highlighter, Notoriously Morbid Osteomancy. Purple Horseshoe combines blue and purple together for a gorgeous glow.

If I had to pick just one word to describe Moonchild, it would be ethereal. Every single color in this palette makes my skin have an ethereal, otherworldly glow that I love. It’s one of those things that I’m looking for in a highlighter and this palette nails it perfectly.

One of the things that I love is that it’s a palette with 6 shades where I’ll actually wear all 6 shades. Many palettes have a few throwaway shades that I wouldn’t use at all. Not this one! Also, you’re getting a generous amount of product per shade, .15 oz each. To give you some perspective, Kat Von D Metal Crush eyeshadows are .10 each, so they’re half again as large. Or if you look at the Anastasia Contour refill pans, they’re .11 oz for $14. So each shade in this palette is larger than an ABH contour refill pan. I think that makes this palette quite a good value for the price.

What do you think of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonchild Palette? How would you wear it?
