About Face Holographic Eye Paint Total Eclipse Makeup Inspiration
Hello, Hex Squad! Today I’m sharing my About Face Holographic Eye Paint Total Eclipse Makeup Inspiration with you. Longtime Phyrra visitors will know that orange is probably my least worn makeup color, but I’m doing my best to step outside my comfort zone and make it work for me. I always hear how orange is supposed to bring out and flatter blue eyes, so I thought I’d give it a try.

Initially, I couldn’t decide on what lip color I wanted to wear with the About Face Holographic Eye Paint Total Eclipse makeup inspiration look so I tried my dark grey lip pencil and layered the sheer peach gloss on top. Ultimately, I didn’t like how it turned out, so I tried a warmer lip color that I thought would work with the orange liner and cheeks. Buxom Hush Hush Henna is a warm cinnamon pink to my eyes, definitely warmer than I normally wear but I found it flattering with this look. Which do you like best?

Why Orange and Grey
Recently Dave and I were watching drone tours of Iceland and were blown away by the beauty of the dark grey cliffs laced with bright orange autumn leaves. It made me want to try to recreate in this About Face Holographic Eye Paint Total Eclipse makeup inspiration look. I’m likely to retry orange and grey again, perhaps with a neon orange next time.
One of the most useful tips I have to share about using colors that you often struggle with, such as orange, is to try varying the opacity and intensity. You may find that a softer hue is more flattering than a bold one.

Diffused About Face Total Eclipse Look
I also created a neutral makeup look with Total Eclipse a few weeks ago that I wanted to include in my About Face Holographic Eye Paint Total Eclipse makeup inspiration. I applied it on top of Natasha Denona My Mini Dream Palette and used Stila Ocean Glisten & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow to highlight at the inner lid.
Melt Cosmetics Melt-It Liquid Eyeshadow in Vanilla First Impressions
My About Face Holographic Eye Paint Total Eclipse makeup inspiration look was the first time I used the Melt Cosmetics Melt-It Liquid Eyeshadow in Vanilla. Vanilla is a light peachy-beige shade that adds warmth to my complexion when worn by itself. If you look at the swatch comparison photos on Melt’s website between Vanilla and Fresh, Vanilla looks more like Fresh on my skintone. I’m disappointed that Vanilla does not appear to be a cool toned shade on my skintone.
The eyeshadows I used glided across Vanilla effortlessly. I had the easiest time blending Cold into the edges of Raven’s Frost and diffusing it. Honestly, I’m excited to be playing with this eye primer and so far I’m loving it, makes me tempted to buy the black shade, Nightswim.
A Note About Total Eclipse
I’ve found that Total Eclipse works best as a solid lid shade when applied with a flat brush and then blended out with a fluffy brush for a softer effect. When I tried using Melt’s 96 Eyeliner brush to apply it as a liner, it didn’t go on as smoothly as I had hoped. It seems the swiping and gliding technique wasn’t quite right; perhaps the stamping method, similar to what’s effective with matte fluid eye paints, would have been a better approach.
Final Thoughts
I’m feeling a boost in my health every day, which truly lifts my spirits. After a challenging year focused mainly on healing, it’s refreshing to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Recovering from multiple surgeries in such a short span has been incredibly taxing, but I’m finally feeling stronger and more vibrant.
