Too Faced Melted Metal Lipsticks Review

Too Faced Melted Metal Lipsticks Review

As soon as I saw that Too Faced was coming out with Melted Metal lipsticks, I knew I had to have them! I ordered 4 from Ulta when I saw them online and waited impatiently for them to get here. I picked out Debutante, Dream House, Violet and Jelly. I’m a huge fan of the Too Faced Melted lipsticks as I love the formula and packaging. The new formula is fun because it’s multi-dimensional and perfect for Summer! Also, just like the original Melted lipsticks, the Metals are vegan, too. You can check out my original Melted Lipsticks review.

Too Faced Melted Metal Lipsticks Review

Phyrra is wearing Too Faced Melted Metal in Debutante

I think Debutante is a fun, flattering shade for Summer, especially with the teal blue in my hair. I love the gold shimmer in it.

Phyrra is wearing Too Faced Melted Metal in Dream House

Dream House is a bright pop of pink! I feel like it brightens my complexion.

Phyrra is wearing Too Faced Melted Metal in Violet

Violet is my favorite sort of intense pinky-purple on the lips. It reminds me a bit of Colour Pop Grind.

I was surprised to find a vampy shade like Jelly for Summer. I like it though it feels like a Winter color to me.

Too Faced Melted Metal Lipsticks Review

In all of these photos I’m wearing the following (* denotes press sample)

Too Faced Melted Metal Lipsticks

When it comes to application, I prefer to line my lips before applying these, just so that I get cleaner lines. I usually match as closely as I can to the lip color, but you can always use a clear lip liner like Too Faced Borderline Lip Pencil, too. These felt like they were more slippery as compared to the original Melteds, but with liner they didn’t migrate on me.

I tested Violet for wear time and I got 3 hours, but you can improve your wear time by lining and filling your lips in completely, then applying Too Faced Lip Insurance Primer. Jelly, Dream House and Violet left a very slight stain on my lips after I removed them, but it came off easily with coconut oil.

Overall, I’m really happy with these colors. I think they’re absolutely gorgeous and definitely perfect for Summer.

Which Melted Metal Lipstick do you like best?

  1. I think Debutante is about the only one of these that wouldn’t suit me!
I’ll probably go for Dream House, or Violet, or BOTH!
Shoot! I bought Melted Jelly Donut and like it a lot, but told myself I wouldn’t start collecting the Melteds.
BUT I have Melted Rainbow on the way, and these metallic are really calling me!

  2. I didn’t think I’d like these based on the description, but they’re gorgeous! Debutante and Violet are my picks- they look amazing on you!

  3. You have a really cool “electric aura” thing going on with whatever that spiky object is behind you, especially in the Debutante photo. 😉 I really like Violet and Jelly. I don’t own any Too-Faced, let alone melteds, but I’ve been eyeing that brand for a while.

    1. That’s my pretty purple tree. I just didn’t turn on the light. I should have, but I ended up only having the ring light on, nothing else. I definitely think the Melteds are a great way to get started with the brand. Of course their eyeshadow primer is my holy grail.

      1. It’s funny you should say that about Shadow Insurance.
People kept telling me that it’s “the exact same thing” as UD PP, which is *completely* defeated by my oil-slick lidsso I didn’t bother to even try it.
But I got a free sample, tried it, and found it to be much more effective than the UD.
Just goes to show: Don’t believe everything you read on the ‘net. 🙂

        1. To me all eyeshadow primers have different formulas and they work differently with my oily hooded eyes. The one that works best is TFSI. I also do well with UDPP Eden and NARS Smudge proof. So happy you love it! They definitely are not the same though they serve the same purpose.

  4. I literally just made the “squeeeeeeee” sound upon seeing Debutante. This is why swatches are super important…omg I didn’t even have Debutante on my ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE LIST. It’s totally different than I thought it would be and I absolutely love it! The shimmer in it works perfectly with the color. LOVE! 😀

I adore all of these colors. Debutante looks especially amazing in contrast to your hair – ITA! Looks awesome! 😀 Jelly is very different from what I thought it would be but I still love it (I agree that it looks winter-y though). Yay for more beautiful Melted colors in a new finish! I am so super happy that they continue to expand the Melted line bc it is something truly unique and special. <3

This is random but… IMHO it would be epic if TF did curated sets of mini sized Melted lippies! UD's Full Frontal Lipstick Stash Set, OCC's Test Tube sets, Bite Beauty's numerous mini-sized limited sets… It's an amazing way to get lots of lip colors all at once in adorable little sizes – so fun! 😀 I can totally see adorable baby Melted sets! *hopes & dreams*

  5. These all look gorgeous on you but Dream House especially lights up your face! Violet is the first of these Melted Lipsticks I’ve felt like I NEED, haha

  6. One of these days I will own some Melted lippies! These are all so pretty; I really can’t choose a favorite.

  7. Love the Debutante and the Berry shade the best. These colours are gorgeous and they so suit you.

  8. I was hoping these would be truly metallic. I do love that they’re super-sparkly, and the colors are beautiful.

  9. They all look great on you. I have heard that the formula is a little more hydrating than the original Melted formula. I wish there was a way to test it hygienically before purchase because I would love Debutante. That is my color!

  10. Whoa! I don’t dislike any of these colors. I could really wear all of these, I think. Ipsy gave a sneak peak of some of the products that will be in the April bag on Facebook and I spotted a Too Faced Melted Metal Lipstick in the photo. *fingers crossed*
