Taupe Duochrome Tutorial for Hooded Eyes

Taupe Duochrome Tutorial

Happy Teal Thursday! Today I’m sharing a taupe duochrome tutorial for hooded eyes with you. The teal for this week’s Teal Thursday comes in the form of Fyrinnae Sinister. This is really a look that’s outside the norm for me, but I hope you’ll love it. If I had it to do over, I would have chosen a different shade for the lower lash line, probably a deep grey and then layered
Kaleidoscope on top.

Before I applied my makeup for this look I applied Josie Maran Argan Oil Light all over my face and let it sink in, then blotted off excess on my face. I love the Light oil because it absorbs pretty quickly and leaves my face moisturized.

I’m still experimenting with Too Faced’s Born This Way Foundation. I applied Hourglass Mineral Fusion primer to my face. Then I mixed the Hourglass primer in with Too Faced Born This Way Foundation and a drop and a half of Life’s Entropy White. I love how this combination melded with my skin. I didn’t set it with powder initially, and it kept wanting to rub off, so I finally threw some UD All Nighter Spray on top to keep it in place.

Layering Kaleidoscope on top of Inferno’s Light makes for a really gorgeous duochrome that’s hard to capture on camera. You can really see the pink and teal in Kaleidoscope once it’s applied damp. Though I have to admit, just wearing Bust with Inferno’s Light made for a really pretty combination.

While I like both lip combinations, I think I prefer the Lydia + Bruja combo with the eye look. I’ve been reaching for Lydia a ton recently.

I saw my stylist Christian yesterday and got my hair trimmed. I still feel like my hair is growing so slowly, though he swears it’s growing fast because I’m always taking hair vitamins. He said he dusted my edges and took off pixie dust, which really made me smile. You can see  more of Christian’s beautiful hair here.

Which lip look do you prefer?

  1. Gorgeous look, love the eyes! Also I love how you wear your eyebrows so natural and not overdone.

  2. my eyes immediately zoned in on the lipstick and I just KNEW it would be that lunatik lipstick that I’ve been lusting after. Pretty sure I said the same thing last time you wore it. Sigh. I love it so much!!

  3. That eye look is gorgeous!

I airbrush my dark circles (have to!) and occasionally little things that bother me. I am so happy that that option exists! lol

  4. I love the eye look. It may not be typical for you but it’s striking. I also love your lip look. Great job.

  5. This is a very pretty everyday look. It really brightens your eyes. I’m not typically a fan of taupe, but I like shimmery ones like Inferno’s Light that have purple or pink tones to them.

    1. I was really pleasantly surprised by how much I love Inferno’s Light (and I’m not even a taupe hoarder like some of my friends). It pairs so nicely with Bust. I just feel like Insomnia was not the best choice for the lower lid because of the red tones. I should have just tried Inferno’s Light on top of black eyeliner.
