Pravana Vivids Hair Dye Rave

Here’s how I’ve dyed my hair this year.

  • January – Special Effects Blue Mayhem
  • February – Special Effects Fishbowl Blue
  • March – Manic Panic Voodoo Blue
  • Early May – dyed my hair to add pink for Eugenia – Manic Panic
  • May – dyed my hair – Pravana
  • June / July – none
  • August – dyed my hair – Pravana
  • September / October – none

Really my hair desperately needs to be dyed because I’v got like an inch or more of root growth.

January - July - October
January – July – October

So my pixie had grown out a bit in January. In July my hair was past my chin. In October my hair is touching my shoulders. I think the reason I still feel like my hair is so short is all of the layers in my hair. I should probably get another trim. I don’t think I’ve had one since August.

Phyrra with Phaedra

Yes, I adore my poodle. Phaedra knows she’s pretty adorable, too.

Wearing Glasses

Yeah, that’s Pumpkin & Poppy Oak Bark to contour, Tarina Tarantino Neapolitan Lane blush and Too Faced Candlelight Glow Duo to highlight. See the details on the look here.

I’ve really only got the one blue streak on my left side.

Wearing Glasses

I’m hopefully going to see some friends I haven’t seen in a long time this weekend. And I will try to make time to lighten my roots and touch up my color. Thank goodness my natural hair color is so close to black! I don’t mind the black to purple to pinky-purple color scheme.

What do you have planned for the weekend?

  1. I’m about to try Pravana this weekend since I like my hair to be super vibrant at all times, and always have fading within weeks with other dyes. I’ve heard it’s very hard to remove, though, and since I like to change my colors every 6-7 months I’m a little worried. Do you have any advice on that? Have you tried changing the colors up since you started using Pravana?

    1. Last time I tried to remove Pravana it was very stubborn. I prefer to use One n’ Only Color fix to remove color. I’ve kept my hair the color scheme all year, which is a first for me in a very long time

  2. How bad is the bleeding/staining with Pravana? The brand I’m using now looks amazing but washing my hair is SUCH a big to-do with all the bleeding.

    1. If you don’t use a product to seal in the color, it will bleed. I just use the Ion color defense after color sealer from Sally Beauty. It doesn’t bleed or stain. However, when I go to wash my hair, the soap is always purple, but that’s the same with any hair dye I’ve used.

  3. Your hair is growing pretty fast. I like the black mixed in with the colors. Sometimes I think it makes the brighter colors pop if that makes sense. I also agree with som of the comments. Your hair looks good pulled back.

    1. Thanks! I guess I always feel like it’s sort of pulled back when I wear a head band, but the effect is different when it’s a pony tail 🙂 Short tail though!

  4. I’ve liked every color you’ve had, but I really like the Teal.I love your glasses!

  5. Pravana holds really well on my hair too. I use the (regular) Chromasilk in Black 1N for most of my hair and it really works well, almost no fading. I can do the regrowth and only comb it through to the ends maybe every third time to freshen the color. The Vivids Violet is what I use when I know I’m not going to have time to play with the color (late August through early November), just do the regrowth without worrying about fading. I do love using Manic Panic when I want to concoct my own shade or change shades though, so I keep both brands handy.

  6. I really think your hair looks great, roots & all. You can’t tell that the root growth is unintentional.

I love Pravana’s Wild Orchid! ATM my hair is mainly mix of green, blue (very similar to yours) with a bit of purple & lite blue underneath. I’m hoping to incorporate Pravana’s Wild Orchid as my dominant hair color, I hope it works out. I’ve gotten my hair colored 4 times (would be crazy scared as to what would happen of I tried it on my own, lol). I’m completely addicted, much against my conservative parents likes & wishes but we are all going through a very difficult time, this is the one thing that makes me happy. I also have found that I am not as crazed about makeup now…which is a very good thing because I have enough to last me a lifetime!

As a side note, when I first started, my hairdresser & I were going over pictures of color and low and behold who does she show me pictures of??? Courtney! Lol.

Take care & happy early holidays to you & yours.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words! It’s nice to know my almost black roots look intentional 🙂

Yep, coloring my hair makes me happy. Glad to know it makes you happy to 🙂

So happy to hear that your stylist has pictures of my hair! I love hearing that!

  7. I am so in love with your hair the way it is. The black roots look fabulous with the blend and I love that it gives it that look of fabulous, like no effort fabulous.

  8. I like the black roots fading out to the brilliant purple and blue. I thought, until I read that you had roots, that you did it deliberately.

  9. I love that blue! I’ve been using a blue and burgundy/purple from Schwarzkopf, which are great, but a little too deep. I think I might have to make a switch to Pravana!
