Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush – Natural

Recently I purchased the Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow and Mood Boosting Blush in Natural. It’s supposed to have a violet scent that improves your mood and cheers you up. There is a flowery-candy type scent, but it didn’t annoy me. I don’t think it didn’t anything to improve my mood, either.

This is a close up of the Natural blush. Below is the brush that comes with it, which I find useless. It is cute though.

This is the blush swatches on my hand, under a daybulb.

The Website Claims:
*Ultra-soft and blendable blushing powder features a fresh and vibrant mix of blushing tones infused with a pop of color to create a healthy glow.
*Multi-reflective pearls provide a soft iridescence to highlight contour and add radiance to cheeks.
*Infused with our Happy Boost Blend, featuring Happy Skin and Euphoryl, natural plant extracts which have been shown to promote a feeling of happiness by mimicking the effect of Endorphins and helping protect the skin from environmental stress.
*The sweet scent of Violet provides a feeling of joy each time you apply.

Does it live up to its claims?
It lives up to some of its claims. It is gorgeous, easy to apply and to blend. It does have a nice iridescence. It does smell like something sweet and flowery, which fades quickly enough. I can’t really say it makes me feel happy to apply, but I do like the color.

Would I purchase again?
Probably. I really liked the shade and how it looks on me. I think the fuchsia packaging is cute, though the brush that comes with it is useless for application. I really don’t mind the smell and it doesn’t linger.

What do you think? Have you tried anything from Physicians Formula recently?

Product purchased by me. All opinions are my own.

  1. I really like PF’s stuff, I just wish that all of their brushes weren’t totally useless. It honestly doesn’t matter which product you get, I find myself tossing out every single applicator.

Which is a bit of a shame, because they seem to put some amount of effort into the design of them, but not towards utility. 😛

  2. I grabbed the blush in Rose and the Translucent Powder. Love them both! And, yes, they make me happy. Not because of the scent (which is gone almost immediately), but because they’re made of hearts of different sizes and colors! Adorable!

  3. I have both of the blush shades and they’re great. I was thinking of giving them out to my close friends for Valentine’s Day. I like the scent, it reminds me of Chowards Violet candy and I looove that stuff.

  4. I bought the blush in the ‘Rose’ shade last week and found myself sniffing it over and over (it was sitting on my desk while I was catching up on emails, blogs and Twitter, lol). I mostly bought it for the adorable packaging/product, but I really like the color and the hint of shimmer it has. I don’t know if it cheers me up because of all the ‘science-y stuff’ or because it’s just plan cute, but who cares? Makes me happy, lol.

  5. This is a product I keep looking at and looking at. I don’t need another blush, but I think the cute embossing gets me.

This blush looks very good on you too.

  6. The compact is super cute, but I just don’t need another blush right now. The fact that it’s scented makes me worried that my face wouldn’t like it anyway. I don’t want to say my face is super sensitive, but I do find the more heavily scented something is, the more my little (huuuuuge) pores freak out.

    1. The scent does seem to fade fast, but yeah if you’re sensitive it might be an issue for you.

  7. I have both of the Happy Booster blushes; I bought them after a 2-week long hunt in 5 towns for ANY of the new PF collection, after reading multiple online reviews about the products. I wasn’t going to get any after the first review I read (it was one of the face powders), but once I found out there were blushers… well it was all over. I was intrigued by the violet smell everyone kept talking about; I just HAD to know what they smelled like!!

To me it smells like violet candy. It boosts my mood because I like the smell, but I don’t know about any of the science-y stuff they claim, heh. If I hated the smell it would probably foul my mood! I have to go find the others now that I have the blushes; I wish all my cosmetics had this smell. It’s like an olfactory version of crack for me. I’ll probably cry when my stash runs out and they’re off the shelves.

Oh and also OMG pretty lady! This shade looks perfect on you!

  8. The blush looks lovely on you, but my gosh does it look frosty in that close-up! Good thing you don’t mind sparkle! :> I think it looks cute in the pan, with the hearts and all, but that’s the only reason I’d get it… it doesn’t seem like a shade I would wear.

    The last thing I tried from PH was their bamboo compact face powder thing. Ugh! I wore it to visit my boyfriend and within the three hours I was in my car, it turned into this horrible, cakey, creasy mess that made me look all haggard by the time I arrived 🙁 It’s pretty full-on shimmery, too, which I didn’t realize until I was already driving. It’s a shame, since it matched my skin better than any powder I’ve tried yet! I plan on only using it as a highlighter from now on. ;_;

  9. I almost bought this yesterday when I did a mini Physician’s Formula haul from Ulta. (I had a coupon I wanted to use.)

But I refrained because I want to use the things I own, and God knows that I have enough blush/blush related items to last for the rest of my life! So I was using restraint. Ha! That’s a rarity for me. 🙂

But I’ll mention what I did haul because I was thinking of you when I made the purchase. I bought more of the gel eyeliners that come in a three stack. I bought my first stack this summer based on your review.

Ulta has all colors in the regular stacks, but only two of the four Glam Eyes sets that were released for Holiday 2010. Do you know what I’m talking about? Have you tried them?

Now I just have to hunt down the other two Glam sets. Physicians Formula is not easy to locate in my city. 🙁
Your picture is lovely, as always. 🙂

  10. I got the translucent one to use as a highlighter and i really like it. But now I want the blush too!! 🙂

  11. I have the rose one, and I love it! The natural on me wouldn’t have shown up much…. I’m interested in the translucent one for a highlighter…. and maybe trying out the bronzer.

    Thanks for the post!
