About Paula’s Choice RESIST Weekly Retexturizing Foaming Treatment 4% BHA
You may not outgrow breakout-prone skin, but you can outsmart it. This lightweight foam unclogs your pores and reveals younger-looking skin. This is an innovative treatment that delivers smoother, younger-looking skin overnight. Specialized technology encapsulates anti-aging superstar salicylic acid for time-released delivery—so you get dramatic results without flaking or signs of irritation.

The unique liquid-to-foam texture feels water-light yet is packed with soothing ingredients that reduce redness, calm inflammation, unclog pores, and reduce symptoms of rosacea. Plant-based antioxidants work with the exfoliating, pore-penetrating action of salicylic acid to stimulate collagen production for firmer, smoother, more radiant skin.

This weekly skin saver not only reduces multiple signs of aging, but also fades red marks from breakouts; plus, it’s a potent option for banishing stubborn “chicken skin” (keratosis pilaris) on arms or legs. This product has a pH of 3.6.

My Thoughts
I’ve used this for several months now. Initially I started out trying it once a week, but then I got braver and I’ve done it 3 days in a row some weeks. It’s highly addictive because you smooth it on and in the morning you wake up with silky smooth skin. It’s a product that I’m tempted to use every night, but I am settling on using it every other night. I honestly did not think that with my sensitive skin and rosacea I would be able to use this product so frequently, but I’m glad that I can!

Here’s how I use it
I cleanse my face and then apply the foam carefully to my face, neck, décolletage and hands. I create a mixture of Paula’s Choice Moisture Boost and vitamin C, then apply that to my eyes, followed by my face, neck, décolletage and hands. Make sure n the morning that you use a moisturizer with SPF of at least 15.

Here’s how other Paula’s Choice fans use it
When researching the 4% BHA foaming treatment more, Paula’s Choice let me know that people sometimes prefer the 4% BHA foam over the weekly 10% AHA because it’s overall more gentle on the skin. Some fans also try mixing it with their regular Paula’s Choice BHA treatment.

I feel much more comfortable using this foam than I ever did with the 2% BHA Gel Exfoliant. I think it’s partially because the foam makes it easier to apply your night time moisturizer on top of it. You just go to sleep and the time release salicylic acid does its work overnight, leaving you with a refreshed face.

It used to be that I preferred a physical exfoliant to really clean out my pores, but the 4% BHA foaming treatment has won me over to chemical exfoliation. I think it does a better job than I can ever do on my own with a physical scrub (not that physical scrubs are bad!).

How do you prefer your salicylic acid? Foam, gel, or lotion?

  • Cruelty free
  • Vegan

Cons

  • Skip this if you’re allergic to aspirin or its derivatives.

  1. Just a warning it does have a strong fish smell due to the source of ingredients, but it dissipates quickly and it’s worth it. If you get breakouts on your chest or back this is amazing.

  2. I am dying to try everything from their resist line. I’ve only been able to try a couple items but I instantly fell in love with them! What do you recommend getting first from their resist line?

  3. im not allergic to aspirin, but i did have a pretty bad reaction to a diy aspirin mask so i think i’ll steer clear

  4. Sounds like a great product for most! I steer clear of BHA since I am allergic to Salicylic Acid, but I’m sure PC has something else that would be great.

  5. This looks good. I use the 2% BHA gel from PC and love it but may try this in future…

  6. I know that if you like it, it’s going to be a great product for sensitive skin. I can’t believe it works so well and is so gentle, but the proof is in the pudding! I want to try this now.

  7. Sounds like a product I need to look into! I am let’s just say above 40 and I still have some acne breakouts, not as bad but darn!!! I also have trouble with the enlarged pores.

  8. I have a bunch of her products however I only find myself using them when I have my monthly monster…. Other then that I always use her cleanser in a liquid. Salicylic acid is the way to go, just don’t forget to moisturizer or redness creeps up!

  9. I have fairly decent skin so I have never needed to use a product like this but I like that this product helps to correct darkness/redness. Something to look into.

  10. I like using BHA products when my skin breaks out, they seem to really help my case.

  11. This sounds great! I’ve used Paula’s Choice before and loved it, so I may need to snag this

  12. I’m sold, I absolutely need this now. I use a Paula’s Choice cleanser in the morning and I love it for my oily skin.

  13. I am adding this to my to buy list. I have already made a tentative wish list of her products, and I too have sensitive skin. Manually exfoliation does bad things to me skin, but chemical works fantastic.

  14. Sorry if I posted this twice.

So glad you reviewed this. I have rosacea as well and was curious about this. I use the 1% bha lotion but did not like the texture or feel of 2% gel, lotion or liquid.

  15. I LOVE Paula’s choice products! I have combo skin so it’s been trial an error to find a routine that works well for oily/dry skin but luckily Paula’s Choice has a great return policy. My favorite product is the 2% BHA liquid twice a day. It was made such a difference in the tone of my skin! Also love the Moisture Boost face wash and moisturizer. I use the Weekly Resurfacing 10% AHA once or twice a week and really like that. I have the 4%BHA foam too but have not used it enough to have be sure about it, I think so far I like the 10%AHA better. I’ve tried two of the serums so far but still looking for the perfect match…hopefully the third time will be the charm!

  16. So glad you reviewed this. I have rosacea as well and have been wondering about this. I use the 1% lotion because I just do not like the texture and feel of all the 2%. I will add this to my “must try” list.

    Thanks.
