Nyx Angel Veil Skin Perfecting Primer Review
Quite a while ago I picked up the Nyx Angel Veil Skin Perfecting Primer. I wasn’t sure what I’d think of it, but then I quickly fell in love with it.

While my skin does not look perfect with it on, you can see how it brightens my on the left side of this picture.
In the two pictures above I started with Nyx Angel Veil, then dusted NARS Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder on top. I contoure with NARS Olympia I applied TheBalm Time Balm foundation in Lighter than Light and Cover FX N-Xtra Light concealer. I dusted a touch of Hard Candy Moon Glow on my face.
I really love this primer and I feel like it does a good job of brightening my complexion and blurring imperfections. I’ve been wearing it almost non stop for the past few months. If you’re looking for a brightening primer that will blur minor imperfections, this one is definitely worth checking out.
What’s your favorite face primer right now?
Pros
- Cruelty free
- Brightens complexion
- Reasonably priced
Cons
- This may make deeper skintones look ashy instead of brightened.
I bought this hoping it would be a cheaper version of Hourglass’s mineral one. It is not. It’s not as fluid, and not as mattifying imho
I don’t think they’re really a comparable product. The Hourglass Mineral Veil is definitely an awesome primer. This one to me is just a brightening one.
WOW!!! I really see the difference there on the left side of your face! I bet there would be days you could get away with wearing just that, it looks so good!
This always seems to catch my eye at Ulta. I wonder how similar it is to the Hourglass Veil. They seem to have really similar ingredients.
I need to try this!
It’s so affordable ! I don’t know why I haven’t tried more of NYX
Sometimes it can be hard for me to find Nyx in store, I have to order online a lot
This one really makes your skin look great. I’ve been on the fence on this one!
I need to pick this up. I also like that it is inexpensive!
It does seem to even you out. How is it on pores? Does it help cover them? Does it clog them?
I feel like it does help to mask pores but not hide them completely, but the right foundation combination can help to hide them. It doesn’t clog my pores. I’ve been using this for 2 months and it hasn’t broken me out
You look gorgeousssssss
Rawr thanks Brooke!
Phyrra I was soo interested until I saw you say it may make deeper skin tons look ashy. Thanks for being honest!
Yeah I’m guessing because of the white color it would make deeper tones ashy. I’d definitely try it in person rather than buy it blindly unless you could return it. I could be wrong,
It sounds like a great primer!
I think it is Kimmi!
I like it!! I love the name too!
It does have a super cute name
I haven’t seen this yet in my local d/s. I should be on the lookout!
Definitely Kath! I think you would like it
I’ll have to check this out – it looks great!
I definitely think it is
Hmm wonder how it’d work on my olive skin
I think it would be ok on your skintone 😉
this looks so pretty on you. flawless!
Thank you Angela! I really love the results I get with it
This looks great on you!
Thanks Kelly!
You’re right, it does brighten your left side a little bit, just enough to make the foundation look perfect.
Thanks Anastasia! I know I really like how that effect translates to a natural glow
I have heard some good things about this and considered checking it out… I will put it on my list. You look fabulous darling 😉
Thank you! I definitely love the added glow it gives me
I might have ti check this out! I’m a huge NYX fan.
They deserve the fans they have 🙂 glad you love them too!
So nice to find a great primer at drugstore prices!
It’s definitely nice 🙂
It really did brighten you up, love that! I think I need to grab it!
I think you will be pleased with it
I’ve noticed you using this in your videos lately, and was waiting for your review. I figured you liked it! lol. I like a touch of luminosity, but I have to be careful with too much shimmer because it really amplifies my oily skin sheen.
Yeah I love the glow it gives me
Your skin looks FLAWLESS! Love it! Sadly Cyclopentasiloxane and my skin do not play well together. I’m glad it works for you tho!
Thanks Pink! Sorry it doesn’t play nice with your skin
Oooh it really does brighten!
Yeah I love that you can visibly see the brightness
I am trying all sorts of primers lately, i will need to try this one!
Yes you should!
Ooo! I may need to pick this one up and try it. I just ran out of my old faithful and am about to embark on a couple of samples until I pick up some more.
It’s definitely worth giving a try
It looks very nice on you! Would love to try it.
It’s definitely worth it if you see it at Ulta
Oooooh this sounds great,. And that price point is AWESOME. Not only does it brighten it also looked like it helped a bit with redness. You have seriously flawless ski girl, I am totally jealous!!!!
Thanks, I always am down on my skin because of my redness / rosacea.
Hmm, interesting and especially at that price point. Love your demo with and without! I’m using Hourglass Mineral Veil lately and I like it. I got a sample of a Manna Shimmer Lotion that acts as an illuminating primer on me. I like your idea about mixing primers, and I’ll try mixing the two I have.
I’m glad you found the demo helpful!
I would like to know how you’d rate this next to the Cover FX primer you recommended. Cost aside, I’m most interested in quality of product. Also, I WISH my skin looked like yours without makeup!
These are different types of primer. This is supposed to brighten the skin, which it does, but it still helps to prolong the wear time of foundation. The Cover FX primers, which are all great, all have different qualities. One is for anti-aging, one is SPF 30, one is mattifying for oily skin. This is why sometimes I mix primers together, so that I get the benefits of both.
Thanks! I’ll keep that in mind. I tend to mix primers too, to get the desired effect. My face and neck has a variety of textures to conform to. I guess that’s what combination skin is all about!
I wonder how this compares to Benefits “That Gal” – tried a sample a few months ago and thought it was just ok.
I tried it years ago and it was more pink. It was ok.
Thanks! Yeah it didn’t impress me much. May try out this NYX version. Sorry for the late response.
This one really looks promising. I would really like to find more NYX products to love so I’ll add this primer to the list to try. Right now I’m rotating between three depending on the day: Sonia Kashuk Vitamin Serum Primer, NARS Pro-Prime Oil Free, and Becca Resurfacing.
Oooh I need to try the Sonia Kashuk!
