Nordstrom Fall Beauty Trends with NARS

Nordstrom Fall Beauty Trends with NARS

Last Tuesday I went to Nordstrom at International Plaza in Tampa to experience Nordstrom Fall Beauty Trends with NARS. I chose NARS for my brand at Nordstrom because I’ve always had a wonderful experience at the NARS counter. They’re my favorite brand to talk to for Spring and Fall Beauty trends. Once I arrived, I met up with Jean Yoo and Eliana Soulios to talk about beauty. Nordstrom calls these Fall Trends Ultra-Pretty Neutrals or Bold color.

NARS Fall Look

I’m not sure why I experienced transfer with the eyeliner shade. I do typically use a very thin brush (the Sigma E06) to apply liner, but usually eyeshadow transfers less than an eyeliner will for hooded eyes.

Fall Beauty Trends from NARS & Nordstrom

First, the NARS Velvet Lip Glides are everywhere. Everyone is loving them. So if you only try one thing from NARS, check out their Velvet Lip Glides. Eliana recommended La Main Bleue and Unspeakable to me as being complimentary shades for my skintone.

Next, Eliana mentioned that nude but defined eye looks paired with bold or berry lips are perfect this Fall. Rather than smoky eyes, vampy and smoky lips are stealing the show. See how to get smoky lips here.

We discussed some of our loves and hates with makeup. We’re not fans of the super strong Instagram brow, or the overuse of filters that make people appear poreless. Eliana has had people come in and ask her for a poreless skin look and she’s had to explain that everyone has pores, so you can minimize the appearance but not erase them. Unless you want to heavily photoshop your images. While I love makeup for its artistic expression, I definitely get tired of some of the trends. Seeing a heavy, stripey contour in person is not pretty, even if it looks great in a photo.

I asked Eliana to create a Fall look that flattered my eyes and here’s what she came up with. She started with my face and then did my eyes last. It’s a very understated nude type of eye with Ondine (a shimmering nude mauve plum), Blondie (soft taupe matte), Antares (iridescent white gold) and Pandora (black matte).

Eliana told me that I have great skin. I always feel like my skin looks terrible because of my rosacea, but I thanked her. She moisturized and primed my face, then applied Radiant Creamy Concealer in Chantilly to a few places around my face. Then she took a makeup sponge and lightly applied Sheer Glow in Siberia all over. She used Illuminator in Copacabana on my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose, the tip of my nose, my forehead and chin to add a glow.

Eliana applied Oasis blush, a bit higher than I normally do I think. She used one of my favorite highlighters from the Craving Dual-Intensity blush (the seashell pink iridescent) on my cheeks. She used a bit of Olympia to contour. Then she set it with Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder. She also spritzed a setting spray on me (might have been Amore Pacific). For the lips she applied La Main Bleue, then used Costa Smeralda to define the edges.

To recreate this eye look for yourself you’ll want to take a a nude mauve plum and apply that to the lid, bringing it slightly into the crease. Then take a soft taupe matte and blend that into the crease, softening the line where the two colors meet. Lightly apply the nude mauve plum to the lower lid. Smudge a black matte at the upper lash line. Highlight at the inner corner with an iridescent white gold.

After about 90 minutes, it looked like my foundation was starting to break up on my face. Considering the amount of water that I’m drinking these days (90 oz or more daily), plus that I’m moisturizing my skin a bunch and controlling my rosacea, I’m always baffled when a foundation starts to break up the way it did, especially after such a short amount of wear. I was still at the mall, so I went back to see Eliana and she put Siberia powder on top. She recommends doing that to touch up if your foundation starts to show wear.

I really love the Velvet Lip Glides. I’ve tried wearing them with and without a lip pencil and I definitely prefer the lip pencil. I did notice that I need to slightly blot the inner lip line or I end up with color on my teeth. Never fun. These seem to be a cross between a lipstick and a lipgloss. They also leave a nice stain behind. So far I’ve gotten around 4 to 5 hours of good wear. After then, they’re still on but they may need a touch up. Of course, I’m constantly drinking water, so I know that impacts them. I love the formula enough I’m debating picking up Toy and Danceteria.

If you’re in Tampa, go see Eliana at the Nordstrom in International Plaza. She’ll be happy to help you perfect your Fall Look. If you’re not near Tampa, you can still visit your local Nordstrom now between now and December 10th to learn more about the latest beauty trends. You’ll be able to meet up with a makeup artist who will teach you how to create the perfect Fall look tailored to you.

    1. Their blushes are my all time favorite. 🙂 And you don’t need a lot of product, so I have a palette that I still use with fave shades I still haven’t hit pan on 🙂 The Sarah Moon Holiday Collection is really beautiful too

  1. Such a glowing, radiant look. And with a lot of finesse, she’s really talented and did a great job. You did have great skin and you take really good care of it, what a fun wonderful treat-I definitely plan on going! And it would be great for my mom too! I’ve seen some NARS tutorials, and the way that they were able to use the concealer in different ways, plus the extra highlight, and the cheek dimension(color and soft dimension rather than a “cut crease cheek” I totally agree, and I’m glad that they have shared that trend. I saw a post where they called in Nontouring. I love the DI blushes, Nico is a great light shade, the DI shadows are gorgeous, Acturas is so pretty as a liner-there are also the Velvet Liners that you might have seen(they are different from the rest of the NARS liners they are rich, powdery, ) I like the idea of a lighter eye with a softer liner and a deep burgundy lip, that Velvet Lip Glide is gorgeous on you-they have a ton of pretty shades-it’s so fun you can put it into a “record” and see the shades and make music lol. But anyway yes I think that’s a beautiful way to wear a bold lip, that’s a trend I like

    1. I was going to say that NARS’ Fall Collection and their Holiday Collab Collections are my favorite, so I skipped NARS summer for that reason 😛

    1. Yes! The Rose Gold Dual Intensity shadow shade is stunning! I want all three, NARS’ Fall Collections and their LTD Holiday are my favorites:)

      1. So true! I’ve been trying some similar shades in the inner corner at the end of my look or just to pat a little bit with my finger and it does make the difference, The DI shades are nice because they give you a sophisticated sheen without it being too intense:)

  2. Sounds like a fun event. Too bad about the foundation breaking. Although I love the fun of having my makeup applied, sometimes it’s better to do it myself using my tried and true methods for my skin. I love the lip color on you. Very pretty light neutral look, but I think I like seeing you in more dramatic shades that you usually choose.

    1. I really enjoyed having Eliana do my makeup. It’s always great to see how someone else feels makeup looks flattering on you and to learn new techniques.

      1. It’s really nice!!! She did an impeccable job, and she highlighted your natural beauty, and now you have some new tips for your already amazing arsenal. That’s one thing that I love about Nordstrom is they really give you that personal service.
