Time for New Glasses

Time for New Glasses

Today I decided it was time for new glasses. I had an eye doctor’s appointment for my yearly checkup so that I could get more contacts and finally get new frames. I hate changing frames, so I’ve had my frames for the past several years. I find it very hard to find a style that I like that isn’t too big that doesn’t look bad on me. Before I went in, I looked at glasses.com but didn’t see a pair that I thought would look flattering on me.

Time for New Glasses

When it comes to eyeglasses I have to get a very narrow rectangular shape because my prescription in glasses is so high. If the glasses I get are too tall / round, my vision ends up distorted, which is awful.

I tried on about 15 different pairs, and only found 3 that I liked (2 being the Tory Burch, 1 being a Ray Bans in dark teal blue). Hopefully I will end up actually liking the frames that I bought. It’s always an adjustment when I switch from one prescription to another.

I settled on a Tory Burch frame in Navy, although I was really tempted by the Purple Tortoise Shell. I almost always get black frames, but I’ve also had red and dark blue in the past.

Once my glasses come in, I’ll be sure to show them to you.

When was the last time you had to get new glasses?

  1. I have Tory Burch glasses! I got them in June and they’re my first glasses ever (I’m 22!) I’ll probably keep these frames forever, honestly.

  2. I haven’t gotten new frames in about 4 years! I have a pair of tortoise-shell Ray Bans, I love them but it’s time for a new pair soon. I just remembered that the last time I bought glasses, I swore it would be the last time and that I’d get Lasik soon.

  3. You look so lovely in glasses. I have to wear them all the time, which I hate, but I look pants in glasses. I go for rimless to minimise the effect. But glasses just mess with your makeup…your eye makeup. It looks so different the minute you get a lens in front of it! How do you adjust your makeup?

  4. I get new lenses as need (every 2-4 years), but I tend to keep frames for awhile. I last got new frames about a year and half ago. Mine have the rectanglular lenses similar to yours. They are purple metal with vines and leaves cutouts on the sides, and some of the leaves are set with olive green stones. I can’t remember which designer I got. I usually get mine in browns or bronzes, but I thought these purple ones were too pretty to pass up.

  5. I buy new frames every year, always a similar style, usually black, but my last few have been purple. My eye doctor has a fantastic selection and always gives me great prices, and even though I wear contacts I feel splurging on nice frames is well worth it. Keep an old pair or two just in case and then donate pairs you don’t need to either the Lions club or New Eyes for the Needy.
