Meow Urban Legends Collection
I wanted to share the new Meow Urban Legends Collection with you today. I’ve got swatches, a review and two looks, too. This collection is inspired by Urban Legends around the USA. Meow is an indie makeup company based in Pennsylvania. They’re cruelty free and some products are vegan.

Urban Legends swatches
Hellmouth
rich burgundy red plum colorshift
To me this is a blackened burgundy with brown undertones. I don’t really see any plum. Sometimes I think my ability to see plum is broken because most of the time when someone says plum a color is plum, I just see brown or brown with purple undertones. Not gonna lie, I think of Buffy the Vampire Slayer when I hear Hellmouth, which is why I bought this color in full size. A Hellmouth is an entrance to hell, or an area where the barriers between dimensions are weak and things can cross over.
Bubak
nude berry golden green iridescence
Now this is a color I wish I’d bought in full size because it’s way more interesting than I expected. It’s got a coppery orange base that shifts to red/berry. I also see golden sparkle and can catch a bit of golden green from an angle. The Bubak is something that steals souls to weave cloth and drives around in a cart pulled by cats. Sounds like he hangs out with Freyja.
Slenderman
dark graphite blue
This is a beautiful dark blue that has teal undertones and it shifts to a slightly lighter blue. Very moody. The Slenderman is a tall, lanky dude that promises torments to you if you see him, or something like that. I actually bought Ray a Jack Skellington / Slenderman shirt which is really cool.
Suscon Screamer
apparition blue silver lilac colorshift
To me this looks like a lighter stone-washed jeans blue. I do see a silver color shift, but I can’t glimpse the lilac. Suscon Screamer has a bunch of variants, the best one makes me think of the Seanan McGuire book Sparrow Hill Road.
Devil Tree
dark leafy green dark bark brown colorshift
Warm brown base with darker murky green on top, then lighter green shift. I also see some blue-green in the sparkles too. The Devil Tree is apparently a tree that people either murder each other at or they commit suicide there. Being from Florida and reading that description, I can’t help but think of the nickname for gators, American murder logs.
Spider Wig
grunge golden green grey
This really is a sort of greyed out green with champagne gold shift. Spider Wig is apparently a wig a young woman got from her grandma’s attic that’s really a mass of spiders. Ew.
Snallygaster
duochrome golden swampy green
Warm murky yellow-green with hints of deeper yellow green and golden shift. A snallygaster is a reptile with octopus tentacles, beaks and claws that flies around killing humans.
L to R – Snallygaster – Spider Wig – Devil Tree – Suscon Screamer – Slenderman – Bubak – Hellmouth

I put together two quick looks with some of these colors to see how they’d wear and blend. I tend to feel like shimmery colors blend together very easily. I really like how rich Bubak looks on the eye. My look with Bubak / Hellmouth came together very quickly. The other look, I really should have added another color to the crease to deepen where the blue transferred because of my hood.
This is a fun little collection. I really like Bubak, Slenderman, Devil Tree and Snallygaster. I need to try wearing Hellmouth with some different colors to see if I like it more. I wasn’t expecting brown tones in it and I’m sort of burnt out on burgundies with brown tones. I really do think that the eyeshadow look with Hellmouth turned out great though.

More to See
this last eye look is bae!
Oh these are beautiful
Gorgeous shades and Meow does the teals so well. But I really like the Suscon Screamer shade – quite original. Each eye look is so different and unique. Now if the company did those shades in a pressed powder it would make it easier to use.
They really do make great blues. You can probably press these pretty easily. Fractioned coconut oil & Cap 5 preservative from TKB Trading.
Beautiful shades, I just can’t deal with loose shadows.
Have you ever tried DIY pressing? I’ve done that to make things easier.
You always share the most beautiful brands!
Thanks Heather!
It must have been Safari having hiccups! Here it is! Love the pairing of Bubak/Hellmouth, gorgeous
Thank you! I love how that one turned out too.
