Makeup Wars – Beauty Blogger Travel

It’s time for another Makeup Wars! This time we’re talking about travel. As a beauty blogger, it’s easy for me to want my whole makeup arsenal available at my finger tips, no matter where I go. To keep myself in check, I remind myself about space and try to limit my beauty products to 2 or 3 small bags and 1 brush roll. I’ve done a lot of traveling lately, so I can tell you what has worked for me the past 3 months.

My Zuca bag

In my first bag, which is a Zuca, I typically pack the following things:
Bio True contact solution & contacts case
Brush cleanser spray for my makeup brushes
Makeup Remover (not pictured but I’m using Mario Badescu carnation oil makeup remover)
Josie Maran SPF 40 argan oil moisturizer
Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentrate
Metronidazole cream (generic metrogel for rosacea)
DermOrganic Shaping Hair Spray
Redken Powder Grip (not cruelty-free, finishing this off because I had a few of these)
Bath & Body Works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Body Spray
Tooth brush, tooth paste and mouth wash. (not pictured)
Depending how long I will be gone I will also pack my Clear Care Contact cleanser and special case for that.

I have to also say, the Zuca is so perfect for travel. the clear top makes it easy for you to see if you’ve packed everything. I also use it in my carry-on bag. I pack all of my makeup and skincare in my carry on because I worry that my suitcase will get lost and I’d rather not lose all of my beauty products.

Embryolisse has really helped my skin when I’m traveling, because my skin doesn’t like dry climates or cold weather. It keeps me well moisturized and looking like a got a great night’s sleep, even if I’m lacking it.

enKore brush roll

Next, I have my enkore brush roll! This lets me put all of the brushes I need to take with me in it. It keeps me from losing them because I will put 1 brush per opening, so if all the openings aren’t filled, I know I’m missing one.

Finally I have my tokidoki makeup bags. I LOVE these bags. Now, what I put in them depends on where I’m going. I bring both a heated lash curler and my Urban Decay Lash Curler with me. I use the heated lash curler first, and then use the Urban Decay Cage Free Lash Curler. My lashes never want to stay curled, but the extra heat helps.

Travel Essentials

The products inside my makeup bags:
Urban Decay Naked Basics palette
Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara
Pop Beauty Peak Performance Mascara
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Too Faced Sweethearts Blush
Too Faced Candlelight Glow Duo
Vanity Mark Gingerella Brow Pencil
NARS Albatross Gloss
Meow Golden Hours eyshadow (I always need a gold eyeshadow with me)
BFTE Glistening eyeshadow (I always love this highlighter)

Now, I vary my lip products based off of the season and my mood. Morgana Cryptoria Troll Repellant is almost always with me. I also pack a neutral type shade and recently the Urban Decay Good Witch Glinda pencil has been perfect for that. NARS Albatross gloss goes because adding gold gloss is something I love. I also will toss in Sugarpill Afterparty and Poison Plum if I will be able to wear brights where I’m going.

The Urban Decay Naked Basics palette is useful because it contains Walk of Shame, which is perfect for blending out the edges or a matte highlighter. I also have found the rest of the shades easy to use if I need a neutral look or to compliment my brights.

The Vanity Mark Gingerella brow pencil is perfect with my hair when it’s red, orange or sporting rainbow hues. It doesn’t compete with my hair but it does frame my eyes nicely.

My foundation has been varying on the weather and my skin. I’ll usually pack either Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation, Paula’s Choice RESIST Anti-Aging foundation, and most recently, Too Faced Air-Buffed BB Creme foundation. Right now I’ve been using the Too Faced because it’s the only one not pooling in my pores.

I definitely take more makeup with me than I used to, but that’s because I include products like highlighters and primers and multiple mascaras. I strongly recommend packing travel palettes, because it really does give you versatility. I’ve also packed the Urban Decay Smoked palette for trips and the Urban Decay Fun palette. Both of those have great shades for a getaway.
What do you take with you when you travel?

Some products purchased by me. Some products sent for consideration. All opinions are my own.

  1. Cute bag! I love Tokidoki stuff and have a different Totkidoki makeup bag that is smaller.

  2. I love your bags!  So cute and just “you”.  I’m a bit surprised that I have more eye shadows than you do, though I’m the overpacker.

  3. I like that enkore brush roll! And I need to try Embroylisse cream–can’t believe I haven’t yet!

  4. We’ve done 18 Makeup Wars? I never counted before. Next time I’m going to ask to read yours before I publish since you are so complete! I guess you’ve had a little more practice than me lately though. I love your Todoki bags, such a great design. If I didn’t keep my brushes packed all the time I’d steal your idea of one brush per holder.

    1. Marcia beauty info zone I’m not sure if that’s all we’ve done, but that’s all I’ve participated in. I forgot to mention that:
I bring q-tips and cotton balls for makeup removal
I bring my NARS Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 in Finland for when I have to get up at 4am to catch a plane
I bring a small squeeze container filled with my facial cleanser

  5. What a cute brush roll! Great choices too! 🙂 I have always wanted to try that Embroylisse cream. Is it as good as every says?

  6. Your bags are so cute!  I totally need a Zuca.  My stepsis has one and I’m insanely jealous.
