My Thoughts
Ultimately, I was disappointed with the La Creme Lip Balms. I did not find them to be as moisturizing on my lips as my HG lip balm. They have a ton of ingredients that should be moisturizing – castor oil, olive oil, shea butter, jojoba seed oil, grape seed oil, but it doesn’t feel like the the moisture sinks into my lips as much as I would like. I feel like I need to reapply every hour or two. I feel like they form a protective barrier on top of my lips instead. However I do really like that this is a non-sticky formula. It’s great that they’re chock full of antioxidants and Hyaluronic filling spheres that are supposed to smooth out and plump your lips.
For those of you who hate parabens, these contain no parabens.
It is hard to tell the different shades apart, as they really all look the same, aside from Like Buttah (clear) and Plum Craze (plum). It’s nearly impossible for me to tell Honey Bunny, Peachy Keen, Pink Slip and Just Kissed are are on my lips, aside from the slight shine. For the record, my lips aren’t very pigmented.
I do enjoy the light citrus scent. It comes off as lemony to me. I find myself wishing that these contained SPF. I consider applying lip balm with SPF daily a priority.
I think that they’re very expensive lip balms for my taste. While I’ve had no problems purchasing shades in the La Creme lipstick formula that I wanted, I personally would balk at purchasing more than 1 shade of the lip balm – Like Buttah (clear) because you can’t really tell the shades apart.
I do think the packaging is cute, as it’s very similar to the La Creme lipsticks. It’s a light pink metallic tube and it does feel like a luxury lip product. I love how the logo is embossed on the side, as I feel it looks classy.
If you are the sort of person who likes sheer lip balms with antioxidants and a non-sticky formula, you may fall in love with the La Creme Lip Balms.
Pros
- Cruelty free
- Paraben free
- Non-sticky formula
- Light lemon scent
- If you like clear to sheer lip balms, you will like these
- Nice packaging
Cons
- Expensive for the price
- If you prefer a more pigmented formula, skip these
- No SPF
Bummer about the overall formula- I was really hoping to want these!
It’s such a bum these aren’t vegan. I was really hoping they would be.
If they bring a good sale to hsn with them I will pick them up
I’m not a fan of huge sheer lip balms and the price tag kinda throws me even more. Thanks for the review.
I like lip balms but I could just as easily pick up a few Maybelline Baby Lips!
Yeah, I can’t imagine paying that much for a balm- even if it is from Too Faced.
Thanks for the review – I might pick up one, but at the price tag and lack of pigmentation I might save the money for something else.
Hmmm… These sound like a pass for me.
Oh they have lip balms now? that’s awesome!!!
This type of product is totally right up my alley!
Ohh I like this type of lip product for Summer!
OOOO! Those look really interesting!
I like un-tinted or sheer balms for around the house activities, but there are surely cheaper solutions for that. My favorite is Fresh Sugar balm, which I have not found a reasonably priced equivalent for, and I lost my last tube so I’m hesitant to buy it again.
I love the Fresh Sugar lip balms, wish they were CF! My HG is Supergoop SPF 30, under $9.
Thanks for such an honest review!
You’re welcome Justina!
I’m so bummed these aren’t that great – I was really looking forward to them! Great honest review!
You’re welcome Jen! I figure they’re not great for me but they may be great for someone else 🙂
Love your honesty. I saw these and wondered… now I know not to bother.
For me to fall in love they would need SPF
I am the same, I really wanted these but at that price point, I like my EOS and baby lips 😉
I can totally understand!
Thank you so much for keeping it real! These are lovely but yeah, when it comes to balms, I feel you can’t go wrong with a cheap one.
You’re welcome! My HG is the Supergoop!
I saw these on the Too Faced site, but I’m glad I didn’t pick them up. I just don’t see the the need for these.. especially at that price point. I can enjoy my $3 EOS or Softlips Cube for a clear balm, and save my $$ for the La Creme lipsticks – which I LOVE.. and bought a few from HauteLook today!
Yay! So happy you scored Too Faced on Hautelook!
I like more sheer items. These sound perfect!
So happy they are a fit for you 🙂
They have a few La Creme shades on sale today on Hautelook!
Ooh, they’re so pretty! I think I own them all.
Great review. I wish that they had a SPF in them too. Bummer that they dont, because if they did I would be all over them- since its worth the price. The colors are pretty but I agree I probably wouldnt purchase them because of no SPF, and the cost. Beautiful post!!
The SPF is such an important thing for me here in FL.
Great review! These seem like nice lip balms, but I probably wouldn´t purchase any of them because I would like my lip balm stay on my lips little bit longer for that price.
I can understand that!
I’ve been wanting the regular La Creme in marshmallow bunny for a long while. I wasn’t too drawn to these and appreciate your perspective. I see that Sephora has a set of two La Creme’s, a shadow insurance and mini liner for less than the price of two of the lipsticks. Was thinking of purchasing as a way to finally try the lipsticks.
The regular lipsticks are great! I also like the lip insurance primer.
Lovely review and video!
I think these lips balms are nice but for me , I prefer a little more pigmented.
Yeah that’s how I feel 🙂
