Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Vice Review

Vice
Voluptuous and indulgent! A deep chocolate scent, with black cherry and orange blossom.

Scent Notes
Black cherry, dark chocolate and hints of orange.

My Thoughts
This is one of my all time favorite BPAL scents! Immediately I smell the black cherry, then the chocolate. Later I get hints of orange. It’s delicious and decadent.

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Vice Review

Instead of ‘twice as nice,’ ‘vice is nice.’

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Baobhan Sith Review
Baobhan Sith
The ghostly White Women of the Scottish highlands. They seduce unwary travelers by night with their unearthly beauty and mesmerizing dancing. They engage their victims in a wild, hypnotic dance, and once they reach exhaustion, exsanguinate their partners with their vampiric kiss. Grapefruit, white tea, apple blossom and ginger.

Scent Notes
Ginger, Grapefruit, White Tea, Appleblossom

My Thoughts
Immediately I smell ginger, then the grapefruit kicks in. Later I smell apple blossom. Finally I think the last note is white tea. After about 30 minutes, there’s a fresh green scent that works its way out. The grapefruit lingers, which I like, and I think I still smell ginger from time to time. This is a really cool and unusual scent to me.

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Gobo Review

Gobo
Gobo is the natural leader of the Fraggle Five. He is an explorer, spending his days charting the unexplored (and explored-but-forgotten) regions of Fraggle Rock. Gobo is following, often quite literally, in the footsteps of his Uncle Travelling Matt Fraggle, the greatest living Fraggle explorer.

(For those of you who don’t know, Fraggle Rock was a cute live action puppet tv show by Jim Henson. It was awesome.)

Scent Notes
Tangerine, lemon peel, sugared pink grapefruit, and vanilla cream.

My Thoughts
Right off the bat I smell the vanilla and sugary pink grapefruit. Later I get hints of tangerine, mixed with the vanilla and reminding me of a creamsicle. I can smell only the barest hint of lemon. Later, the scent reminds me of those orange candy circus peanuts.

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Vice, Baoban Sith, and Gobo Review

Both Vice and Gobo fall into the gourmand category for me. I love good gourmand scents and it’s hard to beat dark chocolate and cherries. Gobo is unusual because of the whole creamsicle to orange circus peanut candy scent. Very unexpected and nice. Baobhan Sith is an uncommon sensual scent.

  1. How I wish perfume oils worked for me! My body chemistry must be weird or something! I’ve tried about 25-30 imps from BPAL and they all end up smelling like gasoline or baby powder (in a bad way). Same with oils from other indie companies. I keep trying! 😀 All these scents sound gorgeous.

      1. It’s so annoying, right? One thing I like about Haus of Gloi is that sometimes I can use their lotions in scents I like, even when those perfume oils don’t work on me. I wish BPAL also had a line of lotions to try.

    1. You may want to look into at BPAL is actually at the Black Phoenix Trading Post. Maybe a scent locket or the hair glosses or the atmosphere spray.

That way, you get to wear the scent without it hitting your skin?

      Plus, my hair gloss laaaaaasts.

  2. I love BPAL! I’ve been wearing them for years! My faves are The Last Unicorn, and I currently have an order on the way of Alice and Kyoto (for me), and a bottle of Scheherazade as a present for a friend.

  3. I have never tried BPAL before. I have heard mixed reviews about the company in regards to customer service. Some say, that they have received amazing service- some have said that the owner was really rude. But, I have ALWAYS wanted to try things from here due to the uniqueness of the scents :).

    1. Wow, I’m surprised to hear that! I’ve only ever heard good things about their customer service.

I first heard about them from a local friend of mine who was enraptured with ‘O’ and raved about how amazing they were.

I definitely think their scents are unique.

      1. I’ve dealt a couple of times with their customer service, and they’ve always been really nice.

  4. Love BPAL, definitely my favorite source for scented oils. My picks are Othello, Loi Krathong, Eat Me, Vine, WILF, and All Soul’s Night. I tend to collect more of the limited editions scents that come out for the holidays.
