The Best Natural Scrubs For Your Body

Best Cruelty Free Natural Scrubs For Your Body

Today I’m sharing The Best Natural Scrubs For Your Body. Everyone wants soft, glowing skin. However, you may not know that you can get soft, glowing skin with items from your kitchen. People often ask, what should I use? Do I need to spend $70 on a body scrub? The answer is no! You can make a great scrub for far less. Exfoliating products go from super fine to incredibly rough and it can be hard to know which one is right and how often you should use them.

The Best Natural Scrubs For Your Body

For natural scrubs, you have five main options that not only get rid of dry, dead skin cells, but take care of problems such as breakouts, dry skin and redness. With all of these, you can buy natural based products with one of these ingredients or create your own scrub.

Sugar Scrub

Sensitive Skin Solutions – Rice and Sugar

Rice isn’t just a great side dish, it’s also perfect for exfoliating sensitive skin. The powerful scrub isn’t actually rice, but rice bran which is the outer layer of rice. It’s an extremely fine powder that rids your skin of dry, dull cells, takes care of inflammation and even helps protect against sunspots.

Sugar is slightly coarser than rice, but it’s perfect for dry, yet sensitive skin. It helps your skin retain moisture to prevent dryness and it even contains glycolic acid for firmer, healthier looking skin. While it’s a gentle exfoliant, you can actually use it with most skin types.

Sugar scrub:  2 parts sugar (sugar in the raw, brown, white, whatever you like) to 1 part oil. Olive oil or coconut oil is what I find works best for me. You can also add some vitamin E. If you’re feeling fancy, add in a bit of Vanilla extract. (I love vanilla!)

Gentle ground rice body scrub: 1/2 cup of ground rice and 1 cup of coconut oil.

Best Coffee Scrub

Combat Sagging – Coffee

Coffee not only helps you wake up in the morning, but it works wonders on saggy skin while eliminating dead skin cells. Coffee scrubs are coarser than sugar, so if you have sensitive skin, you may want to tread lightly with this one or use it less frequently. The combination of caffeine and antioxidants gives your skin a more toned, firm appearance. See Erin’s post on Coffee Scrubs and how they reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Erin’s recipe for the best coffee scrub:  1/2 cup coffee grounds (must have caffeine, not decaf!), 1/4 cup brown sugar (or sea salt if you want a coarser grain), sweet almond oil or coconut oil. Sweet almond oil is the best carrier to make the coffee scrub effective and have it help reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Coffee Scrub, Sea Salt Scrub, Oatmeal Scrub

Powerful Scrubs – Oatmeal and Sea Salt

If you need a coarser scrub, look no further than oatmeal or sea salt. Oatmeal relieves and soothes red, irritated skin while getting rid of dry skin flakes. Plus, oatmeal has been used for generations to help with itchy skin, so it’s perfect as a whole body natural scrub if you have dry, itchy skin.

Sea salt is extremely coarse, so reserve it for those dry, rough patches on your body and use one of the others for your face. The only downside is sea salt tends to dry skin out, but many formulas account for this by including natural moisturizing ingredients.

For a sensitive skin scrub:   2 cups brown sugar with 1/2 cup of ground oats, 1/2 cup of sweet almond oil or coconut oil.

For a strong salt scrub:  1 cup of sea salt with 1/3 cup of sweet almond oil or coconut oil, adding more oil as desired.

I’m very lucky in that I can use any body scrub I want without irritating my skin, but many people aren’t so lucky. Hopefully one of these recipes will appeal to you. Natural scrubs with coconut oil, olive oil or sweet almond oil mixed with your exfoliator of choice will give your skin an extra boost so it looks and feels better. I recommend using a body scrub two or three times a week for soft, silky skin.
