Best Eyeshadow Palettes

Best Cruelty Free Eyeshadow Palettes

Happy Makeup Wars Monday! Today I’m sharing my picks for the best cruelty free eyeshadow palettes available right now. Palettes that say LE are limited edition and may be gone soon, so don’t miss out on those if you’re interested!

Best Eyeshadow Palettes

I only included pressed eyeshadow palettes, no loose sets, though there are some awesome loose pigment sets available right now, like the Darling Girl Who You Gonna Call set and the Silk Naturals Bare Necessities Matte 2 set.

Urban Decay Pulp Fiction (LE) – $16 (on sale right now)
If you saw my Urban Decay Naked Basics, Naked 2 Basics and Pulp Fiction comparison video, you’ll know that I prefer the Naked Basics and Pulp Fiction palettes. Since the Pulp Fiction is on sale for $16 right now, it’s hard to beat the value of this palette! When it comes to browns, I need shades that provide a more clear contrast with my skintone or else I end up looking like a muddy mess. (See my comparison and review)

Urban Decay Vice 3 (LE) – $60
For the past 3 years, UD has released a Vice palette. Every year this LE palette sells out and people lament on missing out. I recommend it because it has a good mix of brights, smoky shades and neutrals (though it’s heavy on the neutrals to me). This is a really nice palette and a great value for the price. You’re getting $216 worth of eyeshadow for $60. I absolutely love the pink/burgundy row and I hope Urban Decay will make at least Alien and Bondage available as eyeshadow singles because UD really needs pinks like that in their lineup. Dragon is really gorgeous too, as is Heroine. See my review.

Urban Decay Electric Pressed Pigment – $49
For all of my fellow bright color lovers out there, this is the palette for you. You’re getting 10 eyeshadows, which breaks down to $4.90 an eyeshadow. As usual, UD does an amazing job of packing in the value for this palette. I love Gonzo, which is the amazing bright turquoise blue. It’s my favorite shade of turquoise blue and I would love to see it become available as a single eyeshadow. I’d snap that up in a heartbeat! See my review.

Urban Decay Naked 3 – $54
This is my favorite of the Naked palettes. I find the rosy neutrals to be flattering with my blue-green eyes and my porcelain skintone. I don’t feel like these shades go muddy on me, which is why I’m not fond of Naked 1 or Naked 2. I think they’re flattering on a variety of skintones. I especially love Strange, Trick, Darkside and Blackheart. I hope that Blackheart and Strange become available as singles. See my review.

Sugarpill Sparkle Baby – $34
This palette was highly anticipated and just recently launched. Filled with 4 gorgeous shades including a rose gold, lavender, mint and magenta, it’s super sweet and fun. These palettes are an amazing value because individual colors are $12 each, so you’re getting 1 shade for free and then some when you buy the palette. See my review and lots of tutorials.

Sugarpill Cold Chemistry – $34
I love this colors in this palette. Soot & Stars (grey) is amazing with my blue-green eyes. Elemental Chaos (purple) is an awesome cool toned purple. Subterranean (smoky teal green) is a prety unique color. Diamond eyes (iridescent white) is a great eye brightener. See my review.

Saucebox Étude – $50
I’ve raved about how versatile this 8 color neutral palette can be. You can use it for your eyes, brows, to contour. I need to get my review of it up. The eyeshadows are huge and as a bonus you can mix and match them with Sugarpill pressed eyeshadows.

Makeup Geek Vegas Lights – $37.99
This is another palette I will be reviewing soon. It’s a pretty palette featuring golds and browns from Makeup Geek. I love the quality of their shadows. See my recent eyeshadow review.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Tamanna (LE) – $29
I hope to have my review of this palette up soon. It’s beautiful and some of the shades in it – Sangria, China Rose, Gilded, Venezia – are shades I can see loving. These palettes from ABH only appear to be available for a short time. The Maya Mia and Amrezy palettes are no longer available at Sephora. See my Maya Mia review and comparison to the Amrezy palette.

Too Faced The Chocolate Bar – $49
This palette of 16 shades has a lot of great workhorse neutral mattes and a few soft pops of color (gold and purple). It also smells like delicious chocolate. I really like Creme Brulee, Champagne Truffle, Cherry Cordial, Black Forest Truffle, Salted Caramel and Candied Violet. See my video review or my original review with eyeshadow combo suggestions.

Too Faced Sugar & Spice (LE, Ulta Exclusive) – $39
This adorable palette of 12 neutrals gives you soft shades for day and smoky shades for night. I think it’s the most adorable of the Too Faced Holiday releases and it’s perfect for gifting (or for yourself if you’re into neutrals). I think the best shades are Clove, Nutmeg, Chocolate cake, Biscotti, Champagne Truffle and Cinnamon Sugar. See my review.

Too Faced Cat Eyes – $36
This was such an adorable palette! I love the theme, the purple shades (though it could use a blue-based purple) and the packaging. See my review and bad ass tutorial here.

What palettes do you think are the best cruelty free palettes out there right now? Which are must haves to you?

  1. My best cruelty free palettes are Urban Decay – Vice 2 (I think this is the best one) and my absolute favourite Tarina Tarantino’s Wonderful palette – a beautiful forest green, mint. a gorgeous gold, matte cream and an unnecessary brown (it should have been a silver grey/teal).
I love the Anastasia Tamanna palette, but as I have the Naked palette, I really don’t need any more neutrals. Would die for a gorgeous grey, silver, green and blue palette though. Have looked at the cold chemistry one (it’s Christine from Temptalia’s favourite as well) and I am not sure. Hard to get in Australia anyway.

  2. ALLLLLofthem!! hehe.
I just purchased the UD Vice 3 palette, because I have the first 2 and they are both amazing, and often used. They all have a great variety of shades, and for the most part every single one is amazing quality. I think it’s a great value.
I have all three Naked palettes as well, but I think I use the first one the most because of my skin tone. I love Naked 3 but there is a lot of shimmer and frost and as much as I LOVE them, my eyelids are getting…. welll…..lets say shimmer is not as friendly to me as it used to be.

  3. Way too tempting! I’m trying to go shopping among all my palettes that I still haven’t even opened yet, lol

  4. LOVE the Vegas Light Palette! Now I’m curious about the Too Faced Sugar & Spice Palette – it looks gorgeous!

  5. I keep eyeballing that Sugarpill palette and surprising, I REALLY want UD Vice 3. I wasn’t all that into the first two but this one… Rawr!

  6. I didn’t know about that Makeup Geek palette, can’t wait for the reviews. Too Faced makes so many great palettes that it’s hard to decide what to buy. I love the look of the ones you showed.

  7. I almost listed Urban Decay Pulp Fiction also–it’s really such a versatile palette! Like the look of that Sugarpill palette, too!
