An Interview with Kiss My Sass Cosmetics

I wanted to do an interview with Beth from the new Kiss My Sass Cosmetics (formerly Suds n’ Sass Cosmetics). I hope you all enjoy it!

1. What made you decide to focus on makeup and discontinue doing bath and body products?
I started selling the bath & body products in January of 2008 and I added on the makeup about 6 months later.  Now, 3 years later, I just can’t keep up with everything by myself.  Not only that but I have so many supplies & I’m running out of space!  I’m also a stay-at-home Mom & a Wife, and I’m just not ready to hire employees yet so I knew I needed to downside.  Since I’m much happier & less stressed doing makeup, (and the makeup supplies take up much less space) I sadly decided to give up the bath & body side of the business.  It’s a bittersweet time in my life as I am sad about letting go of Suds n Sass but I’m also extremely happy about Kiss My Sass Cosmetics and I hope all of my Suds n Sass Customers understand the reason for this change.

2. How did you come to the decision to offer custom glosses?
I really enjoy making lip products and there are so many interesting and unique colors that can be made.  I decided to offer a custom option as I know my customers will be able to come up with some beautiful colors that I would have never even thought of!  Plus, they get to create a color that nobody else has and they can even choose a name for it!  The Custom Lip Glazes are already available for purchase and I will have Custom Lip Glosses available in the near future : )

3. What can we expect to see from Kiss My Sass this year?
I’m really excited to finally have time to work on new products & colors for Kiss My Sass Cosmetics.  I have quite a few collection ideas in mind as well as a few new products I’m working on that I’m really excited about.  I also want to be able to “give back” to my customers so I’ve already set up the Affiliate Program (similar to the one from Suds n Sass) as well as a new Rewards Program (earn 1 point for every $1 spend and save your points to redeem for a % off another order).  I’m also considering setting up a Membership Program but I need more customer feedback first.  Basically, you would pay a yearly fee and in return you would receive a certain discount on every order as well as free shipping on every order & emails/newsletter with sales only for members.

4. Can you tell us anything about your upcoming collections?
I know you have a really cute pastel Lip Glaze collection in the works.I do have the pastel Lip Glaze Collection coming out April 1st for spring and quite a few other “colored” Lip Glazes that won’t be in a specific collection coming out at a later date.  I’ve decided to add “colored” Lip Glazes (the previous ones are clear or white with shimmer, glitter, sparkles & sheens) as well as some “sheer” Lip Glosses because of customer requests.  I also have a few other collections up my sleeve, but for now they are still top secret.

5. Did the pops being discontinued affect you?
Yes, but not nearly as badly as many other companies.  I added 8 shadows and 4 glosses to the discontinued section because of the pop micas and 2 other shadows because of hot mama mica (none of my shadows were repackaged pops, they just contained one or more pop micas as an ingredient in the formula).  I have found other micas that are nearly identical to the pops, and I will slowly be reformulating the discontinued colors!

6. Will you be reformulating any of your old shades?
I will definitely be reformulating the colors that were discontinued due to the pop micas being discontinued and if I receive any requests to bring back any other old shades, I’d be happy to reformulate those as well.

7. What’s your favorite sort of chocolate that you’ve been indulging in lately, since I know it’s one of your favorite things?
Lately I’ve really been loving the Dove Dark Chocolate Hearts, they are so smooth & creamy.  I’ve also found another candy/dessert that I absolutely LOVE and it surprisingly, isn’t chocolate.  It’s called Confetteria Raffaello and it’s a delicious almond & coconut candy.

8. Anything else you want to share with us?
Many customers have asked if I will be carrying perfumes over to the new site.  To be honest, I’m not completely sure yet.  I wasn’t originally planning on it because I have so many fragrance oils taking up so much space.  However, I’m still trying to decide what I want to do.  If I do carry them over, the fragrance list will eventually end up being quite smaller as I went a bit overboard with fragrances for Suds n Sass!

I would really appreciate any and all feedback from both customers and potential customers on what they think of Kiss My Sass Cosmetics so far and what they would like to see in the future.

Phyrra – Thank you for taking the time to put together this interview.  I really appreciate it!

  1. Sounds very interesting – I always like to know if someone offers a custom colour service. Perhaps a Confetteria Raffaello scented lip product should be in the making!
