Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection

Today I’m sharing the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection with you. I’ve got swatches of all of these shades and a look. They’re part of the Holiday 2016 collection and they’re limited edition. Once they’re gone, UD says they’ll be gone forever. They’ll be $17 each. These will be launching soon.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection Swatches

I swatched all of these on my lips without liner.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection UV-B Swatch Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection UV-B Swatch

UV-B
vibrant blue with purple shift, cream finish
Sheer cornflower blue. I feel like the purple is more visible from a distance than up close. I’m not a fan of this one on me.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection Roach Swatch Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection Roach Swatch

Roach
deep burgundy-brown, cream finish
I only see brown in this one, and it sort of seems pearly. Not one of my favorites.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection Oil Slick Swatch Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection Oil Slick Swatch

Oil Slick
sheer black with silver micro-glitter, sheer finish
This one is ultra sheer, could be layered to cool off or deepen another color. I typically don’t go for sheer blacks.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection Frostbite Swatch Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection Frostbite Swatch

Frostbite
frosted deep blue with multicolored micro-glitter, cream finish
This color is lovely, but very frosty. Looks better with liner. I like this one a lot.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection Asphyxia Swatch Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection Asphyxia Swatch

Asphyxia
soft lavender with blue micro-glitter, cream finish
Soft lavender pinky purple with blue micro-glitter. This one is good for layering on top of colors like Violate.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection Pallor Swatch Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection Pallor Swatch

Pallor
frosted lavender with gray shift, cream finish
This looks like a greyed lavender to me. I think this one is neat.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection Bruise Swatch Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection Bruise Swatch

Bruise
sheer deep burgundy red with green shift, sheer finish
This comes off as burgundy red to me. I don’t see a green shift and it’s not sheer by my standards. That said, I think it’s a great color on me.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection Plague Swatch Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection Plague Swatch

Plague
bright purple with pink undertone, cream finish
This is a reddish purple on me. Love it.

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection Smog Swatch Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Capsule Collection Smog Swatch

Smog
deep coppery bronze, cream finish
Beautiful coppery bronze. I was surprised I loved this one! This is actually my favorite out of all of them.

Overall, I love that Urban Decay decided to release some of their vintage colors in their updated formula, especially since I missed out on them their first time around! My picks from this collection would be Smog, Plague, Bruise, Pallor, Asphyxia, and Frostbite. I’m not keen on Oil Slick or UV-B because of how sheer they are. I do think Roach is nice but it’s not a color for me. If you already have Time from the Alice Through the Looking Glass collection or Heroine from the new release, you may not need Frostbite. While Asphyxia is sheer, it’s one of those colors that looks great layered on top of any pink or purple you have.

Which do you like best?

  1. I love the color bases, just not sure about the pearl! Hey Courtney, not sure if you’ve heard the buzz about Maëlle yet, but it’s a cruelty free/Leaping Bunny approved cosmetics and skincare line that starts pre-selling Oct 10th!

  2. Not a fan of the sheerness of most of these, Bruise being the exception.
Super into the awesome names though! I was never into lip products back in the day, so they’re all “new” to me!

  3. The Urban Decay lipsticks look amazing! I think the Smog and Plague colors are my favourite.

  4. Oh my god Oil Slick. That was the only Urban Decay lipstick I ever owned. I bought it about a decade ago when they had the weird purple tubes with the annoying little daggers on the end. I got it not knowing it was sheer and I was so disappointed but then I fell in love with it. I eventually lost it and have been occasionally mourning it’s absence and using Nyx’s Vamp’d Up Top Coat as a substitute. I’ve gotten out of the habit of paying more than 10 dollars for lipstick but I might have to make an exception here.

Smog is absolutely gorgeous and I’m tempted but Oil Slick was just so damn wearable. I pretty much used it like it was gothic lip balm. It doesn’t stay well, it doesn’t have a lot of color payoff, but when you want to go heavy on the eye makeup and want just a touch of something on your lips it’s awesome.

  5. Bruise was my favorite lipstick for YEARS, until I went to replace it one day and found that it was discontinued. I’ve been trying to replace it ever since, and I’m so glad it’s part of this collection! I’ll probably buy 4 of them. I might check out Frostbite and Plague, too.

I can’t wait for this collection to launch!

    1. I was so disappointed with the new bruise. Nothing like the old one I loved! It lacks the purple, blue iridescent deep color that made that old one so unique!! The new one is like any drug store reddish maroon.

  6. These are amazing! I love that the shades are more unique than your average fare.

  7. Some of these are shades I’d imagine you creating. Nothing boring in this collection. I love Bruise on you.

  8. Yes I was surprised at how many/which I’d love once you wore them! I agree, Smog is gorgeous on you and I don’t usually go for bronze/coppery shades on the lips but something about this one makes it really beautiful! And Asphyxia is also a really pretty purple, I think the reddish undertone makes it even more special! Bruise was a surprise because it looks so different on, love that one as well., gorgeous on you even though like you said different than what I’d think a Burgundy would be, my mom would love that one! And my other two faves are Plague and Pallor! I agree, those are really unique and would be fun to combine with different pencils or with different colors-yes(need to take note and save for a few!) Thanks for the beautiful post <3

  9. I love a few of these and will want to buy them for sure (I’d better start saving). Plague, Pallor, and Asphyxia rock!

  10. Plague, Asphyxia and UV-B are absolutely stunning. Urban Decay is blowing my mind with their new lippies. Thanks for swatching these beautiful shades!

  11. It seriously is like UD read my mind! Some of those shades are exactly what I was going to try and create myself with mineral loose eyeshadows. I personally love the sheer blue look, would like icy with my pale blonde hair. I love Smog on you!
