Urban Decay Electric Palette Dupes
I received many requests for Urban Decay Electric Palette Dupes. Some people wanted vegan alternatives, others wanted FDA approved shades, and finally some wanted Sugarpill equivalents. So I went through my makeup collection to dig for similar colors. I put the closest Sugarpill equivalent to the shades, which in some cases are not dupes but just colors in the same color family. All shades I’ve recommended are using FDA approved ingredients, as far as I’m aware. While some of these shades don’t match exactly, these are the colors that I would use in place of the originals in a look if I didn’t have access to the originals.
Pr + purchased by me.
Urban Decay Electric Palette Dupes
You can check out my review of the Electric Palette. 4 shades are not recommended for use in the immediate eye area in the USA (Slowburn, Savage, Jilted, Urban). Urban Decay’s official statement about this is listed in my review.
Urban Decay is Leaping Bunny Certified and cruelty free.
You can purchase the Electric Palette at Sephora.
Tutorials
Thrash
In the center of the swatches I have Urban Decay Thrash. Sugarpill Acidberry, directly on the right of Thrash, is greener. Kryolan Satin Powder 662, on the far right, is deeper and greener, but it rubs up to a lighter / yellower shade which is interesting. Fyrinnae OMGWTF, just to the left of Thrash, looks nearly identical to me, but OMGWTF may have a touch more shimmer. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Wasabi, on the far left is greener, but still catches some yellow depending on the angle. Sadly, OMGWTF has been discontinued, but if you have it in your makeup stash, rejoice!
My pick is OMGWTF, but if you don’t have that in your stash, Wasabi and Acidberry are nice, and 662 is interesting because of how it changes when you blend it.
- Fyrinnae OMGWTF (discontinued) (Vegan)
- OCC Wasabi (Vegan)
- Sugarpill Acidberry (Vegan)
- Kryolan Satin Powder 662
Gonzo
In the center of the swatches I have Urban Decay Gonzo. It is absolutely my favorite color from the Electric palette. To the immediate right, I have Sugarpill Afterparty, which has a pearl finish. To the far right is Meow Office Party, which is similar but has gold iridescence. To the immediate left is Anastasia Hypercolor Electric Blue, which is close but more matte. On the far left is NARS Solomon Islands, which is a cream product and more matte.
I love love love Gonzo! It’s awesome. However, my pick from these shades would be Electric Blue. Solomon Islands is nice and long wearing, especially on the waterline. I love Office Party too, but it’s seasonal and only available at Xmas or Xmas in July from Meow. I do love Afterparty (I’m on my 2nd one at this point), but I think it’s more of an eye brightening shade because of the pearl finish, whereas Gonzo is more matte.
- Anastasia Electric Blue
- NARS Solomon Islands
- Sugarpill Afterparty (Vegan)
- Meow Office Party (seasonal holiday shade)
Jilted
In the center of the swatches I have Urban Decay Jilted. Jilted is one of the non-FDA approved colors for use around the immediate eye area. To the immediate right I have Sugarpill Smitten, which does not have the violet shift. To the far right I have UD Fishnet, which is less pink. To the immediate left I have Darling Girl Obviously a Wig, which is nearly identical. On the far left I have UD Junkshow (LE from the 15th anniversary set), which doesn’t have the violet shift.
I think Obviously a Wig is nearly identical to my eyes and a great choice for a Jilted dupe. Smitten is nice but since it lacks the violet shift, you would have to apply an iridescent violet shadow on top of it. Fishnet is nice and since it’s been in several palettes, you might already have it in your stash.
Urban
For the first set of swatches, Urban is in the center. Urban is another color not approved for use in the immediate eye area in the USA. To the immediate left is Sugarpill Poison Plum, which is more red-toned and matte. To the far left is UD Freakshow, which is lighter and more red-toned. To the immediate right is UD Flash, which is lighter. To the far right is Fyrinnae Lemming, which is lighter. In the second set of swatches Urban is in the center. To the right is Fyrinnae Snowboarding, which is fairly similar, but has less of a purple flash. If you use it with Pixie Epoxy or wet, it’s got a stronger purple flash. To the left is Fyrinnae Cuddlefish, which is similar but lacks the red tone and has multi-colored shimmer.
When I was creating these swatches, I KNEW I had a nearly identical color to Urban and when I went through my stash I realized it was Fyrinnae Snowboarding, if used with a mixing medium. I also had fun swatching several other purples because yes, I love purple. Slight purple obsession. I think Cuddlefish and Freakshow would also be great to use in place of Urban. I love Poison Plum, but it’s definitely too matte to replace Urban.
- Fyrinnae Snowboarding (Vegan)
- Fyrinnae Cuddlefish (Vegan)
- Fyrinnae Lemming (discontinued) (Vegan)
- UD Freakshow (Fun palette, Deluxe Shadows)
- UD Flash
- Sugarpill Poison Plum
Slowburn
Slowburn is in the center. Slowburn is another color not approved for use in the immediate eye area in the USA. On the immediate left is Makeup Geek Mandarine, which is more orange but has similar shimmer. On the far left is Nyx Extreme Apricot, which is more matte but extremely similar. On the immediate right is Sugarpill Love+ which is redder. On the far right is Sugarpill Flamepoint, which is more orange toned than Slowburn and more matte.
Mandarine is my favorite from this set, followed by Extreme Apricot. I always think of Love+ being a red, so I wouldn’t think to reach for it in place of an orange.
- Makeup Geek Mandarine
- Nyx Extreme Apricot (discontinued)
- Sugarpill Love+
- Sugarpill Flamepoint
Savage
Savage is in the center. Savage is another color not approved for use in the immediate eye area in the USA. On the left, both Anastasia Hypercolor In the Pink and Concrete Minerals Hi-Fi are redder than Savage. Sugarpill Dollipop is slightly deeper. Nyx Red Pink has more shimmer. Savage, Dollipop and Red Pink all three will stain the skin. Between the three Dollipop is my favorite.
- Sugarpill Dollipop
- Nyx Red Pink (discontinued)
- Anastasia In the Pink
- Concrete Minerals Hi-Fi (Vegan)
Chaos
Chaos is in the center of the swatches. Makeup Geek Neptune to the immediate left is lighter. Concrete Minerals Bulletproof to the far left and it’s slightly less intense and more matte. On the immediate right is Sugarpill Velocity which is slightly darker. On the far right is Sugarpill Royal Sugar, which is super sparkly in comparison.
My favorite from this set is Velocity, but they’re all great shades.
- Sugarpill Velocity (Vegan)
- Sugarpill Royal Sugar (Vegan)
- Makeup Geek Neptune
- Concrete Minerals Bulletproof (Vegan)
Freak
In the center of the swatches is Freak. To the immediate right is Sugarpill Tipsy, which is less shimmery than Freak. On the far right, Fyrinnae Dragon’s Wing is deeper and has blue shimmer. To the immediate left is Makeup Geek Appletini, which is slightly darker and has gold flecks. On the far left is Fyrinnae Aye Captain which is lighter and is a ‘glowy’ shade with some golden flecks.
Of these shades I adore Aye Captain and Appletini because of the gold flecks. I really like Dragon’s Wing for the blue flecks.
- Fyrinnae Aye Captain (Vegan)
- Fyrinnae Dragon’s Wing (Vegan)
- Makeup Geek Appletini
- Sugarpill Tipsy (Vegan)
Fringe
In the center of the swatches is Fringe. UD Deep End is extremely similar, slightly more metallic. Tarina Tarantino Ozma is very similar, slightly less metallic. On the immediate left is Fyrinnae Pteranodon, which is lighter. On the far left is Darling Girl Leviathan which is less metallic and has golden iridescence.
I can’t choose a favorite from this set. These are all awesome colors. Also, I just realized that I should have swatched Sugarpill Darling in this set, though I think it’s lighter than Fringe.
- UD Deep End
- Darling Girl Leviathan
- Tarina Tarantino Ozma
- Fyrinnae Pteranodon (Vegan)
Revolt
So I wasn’t going to do a dupe for Revolt, because I dislike the fallout, but I decided to pull out a few silver shades that I do like. I realized that Revolt is nearly an exact match to Oz from the UD Wizard of Oz Glinda Palette. Revolt is in the center of the swatches. UD Oz is on the far right. Makeup Geek Mercury is to the immediate right of Revolt and it is a deeper, smoother shade. To the immediate left is Sugarpill Tiara, which is a similar bright silver shade. On the far left is Silk Naturals Spurs, a silver with hints of copper and gold. I’m actually surprised that there’s not a bright silver in the Urban Decay permanent lineup.
- UD Oz (LE)
- Sugarpill Tiara (Vegan)
- Makeup Geek Mercury
- Silk Naturals Spurs (I just found out this was discontinued, Vegan)
- UD Shellshock (Vice 2, similar, less fallout, better texture)
The Urban Decay Electric Palette breaks down to $4.90 per eyeshadow ($49 for 10 eyeshadows .04 each), so it’s hard to beat the value of the UD palette for the price. In fact, I don’t think it’s possible to purchase dupes of all 10 colors for less than what you would pay for the UD palette. But if you only like a few of the individual shades or if you’re looking for vegan alternatives, you’ve now got plenty of options.
The only color I couldn’t find a close vegan dupe for was Slowburn, though Concrete Minerals Ember is a bright orange vegan alternative. I don’t know of any red-toned orange alternatives that are vegan.

What do you think of my dupes? Do you have any color suggestions? Let me know!
Wonderful dupes list! I have the palette and find myself struggling on doing what i want, eye safety, and what exactly “immediate eye area” means on my face.
After months of convincing myself that I didn’t need this, I think I’m gonna have to get it lol. I saw it in person for the first time last week, & it really is something I think I’d use alot more than I originally thought, plus UD’s gonna have a special on it soon. I came back here because I knew it had the most in-depth ‘analysis’ lol on the palette. But, I am glad I waited so long to buy it, because otherwise I wouldn’t have found this blog when searching for if it was dupe-able, & I would have never found out about Concrete Minerals!
Thank you so much for this! And to add to your list, an almost complete dupe for Fringe is Fyrinnae’s Digital Faerie when wet. Check it out: http://fyrinnae.com/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=35
Plus, Sugar Pill’s Absinth as well as their Acid Berry could both dupe for Freak
thanks again!
Absinthe is too shimmery to dupe Freak. Acidberry is closer. That’s why I didn’t include Absinthe.
Ah now I see it. Thanks for helping me out, I am trying to accomplish this look without having to pay $50 for the two colors I need.
You could recreate it with Darling Girl Leviathan or Fyrinnae Pteranodon, plus Sugarpill Acidberry or OCC Wasabi.
Thanks so much!
No problem! Gorgeous look 🙂
This. Is. Amazing. Thank you!
Great post! So many beautiful eyeshadows wow!!! 😀
Quick question – you have the Anastasia Hypercolors listed in your post alongside the eyeshadows. Are they safe to use on the eyes? Have you had a good experience using them as eyeshadows?
I own all the Hypercolors except Lola Lilac and Royal. I remember when I got them that all the colors were approved for use in the eyebrows except In The Pink (and possibly Red-licious). I’ve used all of them in my hair and brows but have never used them on my eyes…though I would LOVE TO as the colors are gorgeous. I’d skip using the pink and red on my eyes out of fear though, lol. Plus I have Sugarpill eyeshadows that I’d prefer to use in those shades. I’d be so excited to use all the other shades though – the electric blue, deep teal, purple, and chartreuse are beautiful!
I found a site that has Extreme Apricot on clearance for around $3…might have to take a chance because that color is crazy amazing! So sad that Spurs is DC’ed too. I would love to have a gold-silver/silver-gold eyeshadow. Any rec’s for anything similar? That looks really unique!
Thanks so much for this amazing post! I heart the Electric palette and love all the gorgeous looks you’ve done with it so far! 😀
Wow, there a lot of close dupes here, I would most definitely go for the cheaper alternative.
Just remember that the palette breaks down to $4.90 an eyeshadow, which is really inexpensive. You couldn’t buy dupes for all 10 colors for less than the palette.
Good To Know, Thanks Phyrra!
I love that you did this P! I think often times we forget to “shop our stash” and feel the newest pallet is a MUST have.. and hide away already awesome shades in a drawer to be needlessly forgotten! 😀 Not saying that this pallet isn’t a MUST have for some people, but I think its great as a general reminder! 😀
You’re welcome! I did this because so many people requested vegan dupes, Sugarpill dupes, and FDA approved color dupes for the 4 shades that are not FDA approved. I knew I had similar colors, but very few exact dupes.
thank you for the swatches. Darling Girl Obviously A Wig and Levithan will forever be my fave eyeshadows!!
🙂
They’re both stunning!
This post is perfect! I didn’t know if I’d ever buy this bc of likely not using all the colors super often, but I actually have quite a few of the dupes! Yay! Plus it showed swatches of A LOT of great colors that I might grab in the future. Thanks for taking the time to find all these!
You’re welcome! My time was well spent this weekend working on this project
This is a fantastic post! I ordered this palette the day it hit UD and it didn’t even ship yet! UGH!
I ordered the one for my giveaway at 3am EST /12 am PST the day it launched and it shipped that same day, but I’ve heard that people who ordered later in the day still haven’t gotten their palettes. :/
that’s a great dupes list! i like some of the Fyrinnae dupes and i’ve been wanting to check out pixie epoxy but their ship times are kinda scary. over a month seems a long time to wait for makeup plus i’m not even seeing an eyeshadow section right now?
They never take that long to ship. They always ship much faster. It’s just a window to give them padding on shipping time.
good to know! but i can’t find the eyeshadow section on their website? are they not offering any right now?
They may not have them available right now but I’m sure they’ll be back soon.
Thanks so much for this. So helpful.
You’re very welcome Kat!
Am still debating whether I should snag that UD palette. Great dupe list!
I love it. I would buy it for Gonzo and Thrash alone. And I’m hoping they decide to make Gonzo a single.
I like the dupes you have listed. But I can’t wait to get my hands on that palette!!
Yay I’m sure you’ll have fun with it.
There is such great dupes for this palette out there
I’m glad you like it Betzy 🙂
Wow, such vivid colors! love the comparisons.
These really are stunning colors!
I think the dupes look beautiful and quite close on many of them but I just love the ease of a palette and the price of Electric isn’t even that expensive!
Agreed! But many of my readers wanted vegan alternatives, Sugarpill alternatives, etc, so I tried to find some good ones 🙂
Ye I think that is the one thing I’m hesitating on with the palette – they aren’t all vegan.
Great post, I love seeing comparison pictures!
I’m glad it’s helpful!
SO many dupes! I’m not brave enough to rock any of these colors… well maybe as liners 😉
Accent or liner is perfect!
So excited! My boyfriend bought me this palette for my birthday!!
What a great gift!
Bookmarking this post! I love seeing so many drugstore/affordable dupes!
Happy you like it! Don’t forget, the palette breaks down pretty affordably too, since it’s $4.90 per shadow
You have soooo many dupes! 😀 And they all look fab!
Happy you like them!
wow!!! Amazing dupe list!
Glad you find it helpful!
wow excellent list
Thank you!
Great post! I have to add Electric Palette into my wishlist.
I really like it!
Love how thorough you are! These are fantastic recommendations!
I’m so glad that you like them Celeste!
You go girl! 🙂 Hahaha. Thanks for the dupes list. I still think I need this palette in my life.
I definitely think you need it, or similar colors 🙂
If you have Urban Decay’s Shellshock from the Vice 2 palette, I believe it is really similar to Revolt (at least mine was similar to the one that came in the Anarchy Face palette, which I don’t own anymore).
I had forgotten about Shellshock! It’s similar but better, less fallout. I’ll list it above.
What a thorough list! Great job.
Thanks so much Sheila!
I was definitely going to buy the Electric Palette but I’ve seen some reviews where they experienced a little irritation so now that you’ve given me this awesome comp post I think I’m gonna skip it and try some of the Sugarpill shadows. I was crazy about Fringe but I’m gonna grab Deep End instead. Thanks!
No problem! I’m glad you found my comparisons helpful 🙂
I’m leaning towards the Sweetheart and Heart Breaker Palettes… 😉
You know I love my Sugarpill. They’re great.
I’m supposed to get my Electric Palette in the mail today so I’m super excited! I have been wanting to try Sugarpill and Makeup Geek for a long time.
I hope you love it!
There are just too many shadows now that I want to search for and buy since I did not pick up the latest UD palette!
I still think the UD palette is the best value for the price 🙂
Freakin amazing, and a lot of work and passion in this post. I still want the Electric palette, but if think I also want some Fyrinnae…
Fyrinnae is great and all their products are vegan 🙂
Amazing dupes and swatches! Awesome post!!
Thank you! I’m glad you find it helpful 🙂
This is amazing! Thank you for doing this. 🙂
You’re welcome! I spent all weekend working on it.
