Today I’m excited to share my Top 10 Favorite Indie Beauty Products video with you. This is a collaboration with Tori from Biohazardous Beauty. We both love indie brands and feel like they don’t get enough recognition.  All the brands in my video are cruelty free, many are 100% vegan or have vegan options, and some are organic too.

  1. I really enjoy the different colors “indie”brands have! I know bigger brands have hopped onto the bandwagon but I still go back to indie brands as the main creator hehe

  2. I thought indies were businesses that make their own products. Or have at least started that way. Many you listed are, and have always been lab made.. lab made, is not indie.. Especially when they’ve always been lab made..

    1. Hi! As I’ve stated many times on my blog, I go by the actual definition of indie business. – Indie is a shortform of “independence” or “independent”. Independent business (unique and not part of a chain or larger corporation). Further Defined as An independent business is a business that is free from outside control. It usually means a privately owned establishment, as opposed to a publicly limited company, which is owned by investment shares traded in the stock market. In many cases, independent businesses are sole proprietorship companies.

Sugarpill (as an example) has always been indie. Amy, who I interviewed in 2010 or 2011, works directly with a lab to develop colors. This was also the same for Maria of Cult Nails (no longer in business). Those are both indie companies. They do make their own products. They have their own unique recipes. They are not private label. They’re not just slapping a label on a product that 10 other companies are selling.

You can also watch this video I created that talks about my definition and why I think people should try indie brands https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJQngoYfKGI

      Hope this helps!

  3. I liked this collab and you gave some really true points about drugstore products!

  4. What a perfect collaboration! I need to try the Jeffree Star Liquid Lipsticks!

  5. This is such a huge help! I’ve been cruelty free for about 20 years, but I’ve only recently tried to switch over to almost all vegan. This is awesome, thanks!

  6. I’ve been hearing so much about Jeffree Star lately. I’m waiting to check out the traditional bullet lippies. And I need to pick up the MUG eyeshadow that you look so wonderful in, but I can’t think of the name of the shade right this second.

  7. I love to learn about these brands. The only one I have is Makeup Geek which I think is an amazing line.

  8. What a great collaboration! You both chose fantastic stuff. I’m with you on the eye envy. I wish I had Tori’s lid space.

  9. Love this! I have and love many of these. So glad to see this collab, I am a big fan of Victoria’s channel!
