Too Faced Amazing Face Liquid Foundation in Vanilla Creme – A Review

A while back I purchased Too Faced Amazing Face Liquid Foundation in Vanilla Creme from Apothica. I was insanely curious about its promise of airbrushed skin. However, I was I was skeptical about the color because traditionally department store liquid foundation (and drugstore too) have never matched my skintone. They’re normally too dark for me.

Vanilla Creme Liquid Foundation on top of Fyrinnae Velvet-Gel Silica Primer

Does it live up to its claims?
Yes! I think so! The packaging is super adorable and classy. I love seeing it on my vanity. I happen to think I look amazing wearing this liquid foundation. Additionally, I like that it’s not heavy or mask-like on my skin. I think this is considered light-medium coverage. I do feel like it lives up to its claims of reducing the appearance of pores and fine lines. I feel like it does a good job of sticking around all day, rather than getting oily and disappearing on me. I apply it by dotting it on my t-zone and blending it out with my fingers. Then I use a duofiber brush to further blend it out. My skintone works best with pale neutral, or pale neutral leaning warm, foundations, as I’ve got creamy undertones with a bit of beige, a touch of peach and a dash of yellow. I’ve got an annoying slight pink overtone, and unfortunately have been matched to pink-toned foundations in the past, which just end up making me look pink all over. However, this foundation does a good job of matching with my skintone.

Would I purchase again?
Yes! While it’s the most expensive foundation that I’ve ever purchased, I really like the results that I get with it. I definitely think it looks good on me. This is my favorite liquid foundation that I’ve ever tried and I really like how it looks. I feel like my skin looks airbrushed with it. I wholeheartedly recommend checking this out if you’re interested in a liquid foundation. This may be Holy Grail material for me.

Have you tried Too Faced’s liquid foundation? What’s your favorite liquid foundation?

Product purchased by me. All opinions are my own.

  1. Hi dear
it is including shimmer too? looks like opaque shimmery product?
    many thanks

  2. Ugh I am so frustrated at trying to find a shade of foundation that works for me. I hoped this would work, but I just got my package from Sephora today and it seems this is going to be a tad too dark for me /cry.

I really enjoyed the texture and feel of this when I tested it on my neck/wrist. Maybe it won’t look terrible on,I’ll find out tomorrow or later today if I get bored and want to redo my makeup.

Have you found any other lighter foundations? You got me interested in Meow and I am waiting for a bunch of samples to come in,however I’m all ears if you know of anything else.

I wish I didn’t need foundation, but I have stage IV Cancer and between radiation and meds my skin is a total wreck =( Before Cancer I never wore anything but mascara and a dusting of powder so even though I’m 37 I am a total noob when it comes to makeup, especially foundation.

    1. Make sure you take a picture of your face & neck with this foundation on in direct sunlight. It sometimes looks a tad dark to me, and othertimes it looks great.

You can control that by putting a dusting of a lighter foundation, like Meow, on top of it.

I’m trying out some liquid foundation from MAD Minerals as well as from Coastal Scents. I liked the feeling of the MAD Minerals but didn’t feel like it gave enough coverage, so I need to try it again.

  3. It looks great on you, like you’re glowing! I’ll have to check this out since it has yellow in it. I’m very very pale skinned but my undertones are quite yellow.

  4. I purchased this also in the same color-I love it!! It is also hard for me to buy foundations, they are usually too hard or they change color on me. This did neither. You look wonderful!!!!

  5. Hey Phyrra! This is an amazing shade-match for your skintone! You look very pretty with this on. I am in the same boat as you (although you might be a tad fairer and warmer than me?) as rarely do I find a liquid foundation light enough for my skintone. So far, the closest I have come is NARS Sheer Glow in Siberia which I just recently purchased (and will review soon).

  6. oops sorry I think I posted twice the almost same comment, please delete the first one :p

    1. Aww thanks! And Any time you put a link in, I have to manually approve it 🙂 Don’t worry, I check a few times a day.

  7. I love this stuff! I’m also very light, and this is the first liquid foundation that matches my skin tone perfectly. I also love the powder foundation as well.
And they both look cute, so that’s a plus!

What are you wearing on your lips in the first pic? It looks wonderful!

    1. The orange is Morgana Cryptoria’s Shrieking Orange! It’s a fantastic, bright orange lipsick.

I’m glad you love it, too 🙂

  8. It looks fantastic on you! The packaging is just so gorgeous. I think despite it being too pink for you it’s not anywhere near pink enough for me though :/

    1. I actually didn’t think this was too pink. I think this is neutral, or it leans a tad warm. I think it’s nearly perfect I just wish it was a tiny bit lighter. From what I can tell of the Too Faced Liquid foundation line, it looks like they all lean neutral or warm, as opposed to pink. So i don’t think it would work on your pink undertones.

  9. I so want to try this now!!! I have a very pale skin tone and find it hard to find foundations that I like as well. I don’t think the price is too bad considering how long it takes me to use up a liquid foundation!!! Did you get the powder in the same color as the foundation? Have you tried any of their other products?

  10. This looks great on you!

Lancome Teint Idole on the edges and Clinique Acne Solutions on the T-Zone. Which averages out to what you pay for Too Faced. I’m picking both of these up at Nordstrom tomorrow and the SA said many people wear 2 diff foundations. It’s a combination of combo/oily skin type and our insanely humid weather!

    1. Thank you! I am always torn on the having to mix 2 foundations to make a perfect shade, though that’s probably because usually I could never do that… nothing was pale enough for me. I know that some people do wear different foundations in the summer vs.the winter, and definitely here in the humidity it’s important to find a foundation that won’t just slide off your face.

  11. Ack! I forgot to say that your skin has been looking FABULOUS recently. Even before you started wearing this foundation. But it helps make your skin look even more perfect.

  12. I have the same issue as you because I am so pale I have difficulty finding foundation light enough. However, I have cooler undertones so if I do find something light enough for me it is usually too yellow and I look like I have jaundice. Not cute. I usually just wear sheer foundations or tinted moisturizers, if I wear anything at all, because those are easier to blend out and fake that they match.

    1. If you have cooler undertones, a few of the foundations I reviewed recently are for pale girls with pink undertones. The Maybelline Fit Me powder and liquid in 110 Porcelain, are for fair undertones. I also have an upcoming review of Covergirl Natureluxe foundation in 305 Alabaster, which works for pale girls with pink undertones.
