Sailor Moon Collaboration – Sailor Mercury

I was asked to do a fun Sailor Moon Collaboration with several bloggers. I chose Ami Mizuno, also known as Sailor Mercury. She’s my favorite of the Sailor Senshi. She’s the soldier of water and intellect. Apparently, the Japanese name for the planet Mercury literally translates to planet of Water. Mercury’s colors are blue, with accents of white. She also has gold accents. I used a ton of Sugarpill (affiliate link).

Since water is Mercury’s element, I chose shades of blue for my look, with just a few touches of iridescent white blue. To begin my look, I prepped the eye with NARS eyeshadow primer. I then used a fiber optic pointed crease brush to lightly apply Makeup Geek Peacock to my crease, brushing inward with strokes, very softly. I used a shader brush to apply Makeup Geek Poolside to the upper crease. Then I blended with the 224 brush. With a small shader brush spritzed with MAC Fix + I applied Fyrinnae Futuristic Glam Rock to the lid, leaving a gap at the center of my lid. With another small shader brush spritzed with MAC Fix + I applied Sugarpill Lumi to the center of my lid. I used a small smudger brush to apply Peacock to the lower lid near the lash line. With that same smudger brush, I applied Poolside to the lower lid, smudging where Poolside and Peacock meet. I used another small shader brush to apply Sugarpill Royal Sugar to the crease and then blended with the 224. With a highlighter brush I applied Inglot 28 to the browbone and inner corners of the eye. I used Mirabella Magic Marker to line the upper lash line. I lined the lower lash line with Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Perversion. I lined the lower water line with UD 24/7 liner in Electric. I used Illamasqua Heroine to define my brows and finished with Milani Runway Mascara.

For the rest of my face, I tried to make it not compete with my eyes. I used a bit of Benefit’s Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation on my t-zone and blended out. I used Illamasqua Feline to lightly add a bit of contour to my face. I used Silk Naturals Petal as blush. I decided I needed just a touch more color and added a bit of TheBalm Hot Mama as blush. I used Silk Naturals Untinted Oil control blur finishing powder. I used a bit of tarte lipsurgence matte lip tint in Lively on my lips. I blotted it down so it gave my lips just a hint more color. Then I applied Fyrinnae’s Lip Lustre in Ultra Phantom on top. This is such an awesome color changing lippy! I liked it for the hint of aqua blue, implying water.

  1. So cute! And I agree with everyone here, that wig is PHENOMENAL and you would look fantastic with hair that colour!

  2. I wish that wasn’t a wig! You would look so awesome with bright teal hair. I love this and think it’s very true to Sailor Mercury!

  3. I LOVE love love blue! And you did an amazing job with this look so gorgeous!

Also love that blue wig!!! I really need to start buying them for looks I do.

  4. Your hair, your hair, your hair is killing me. You look extremely cute and innocent in this look, just like Amy!

  5. How fun! I love how you went all out with the wig and everything. I used to adore Sailor Moon and watched it all the time. I love when people do makeup inspired by the characters, though. It’s never ever boring, that’s for sure!

  6. Wow, at first I thought it was going to look terrible. I thought you were going to look like Mimi on Drew Kary. But you have shown me that super bright can be terrific if you do it the right way. I think I’ll give this a try, at least for fun.

    Love the hair BTW!

  7. First of all, you with that aqua hair = super cute!! So pixie <3

This is an amazing look and I love that Ultra Phantom looks so wearable–I was a bit shy of it; now I might just add it to the wish list 😀

Can't wait to see the others!

  8. ahhh! they’ve started! I absolutely LOVE your hair (wig?) that complements your look for Mercury. it really looks fantastic and matches your theme so well, and I really like the subtlety of the Lip Lustre too~
