Makeup Geek Sparklers
I wanted to share the Makeup Geek Sparklers with you. Makeup Geek describes the Sparklers as loose, reflective particles that create a glitter-like effect. I feel they are best applied with a sticky base like Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy or Darling Girl Glitter Glue. For my swatches I applied them with Pixie Epoxy. Makeup Geek sent me this collection.

I put down a tissue before putting the Sparklers in my light box. I just opened and shut the lid of each one carefully to take the product shot, but still ended up with a lot of spillage inside the light box and on myself. It’s pretty, like splatter paint artwork. However, soo messy!
I did make a no-sound swatch video to try to show off the colors more so you can get an idea for how truly sparkly they are.
L to R Row 1 – Solstice – Martian – Solar Flare – Dark Matter – Halo – Lightyear – Stargazer – Zodiac
L to R Row 2 – Constellation – Asteroid – Supernova – Aurora – Satellite – Milky Way – Nebula
Milky Way, Nebula, Supernova, Dark Matter, Aurora, Satellite, and Light Year are my favorites.
I swatched these on Dec. 19 and have held off on posting about them because I was waiting for the Makeup Geek sifters to be in stock for this product. These definitely need a sifter, like I stated on IG and Tumblr. They are too messy, without a sifter, in my opinion.
I could not wear these without a sticky base. They would not adhere to my lids. The best way I found to apply these is as an accent to a look. So apply your eyeshadow as you like, then use a sticky base on the lid, then pat these on to the sticky base. Then clean up the fallout. Then apply the rest of your makeup.
What do you think of the Makeup Geek Sparklers? How would you wear them?
Nebula and Light year are absolutely beautiful <3
I was looking into these but yeah, I was holding off until the sifters after seeing Xsparkage video on these and oh my god- the mess :O
Ooohhh pretty. I’m a sucker for shimmer and sparkles.
Satellite and Halo have me in love!! Oh my gosh I would kill for these! They are so, so beautiful! I can see such a fallout happening on these though like you said..
These are such glorious colours and I love the green ones the best. But I know using these would be a nightmare for me – just cannot see properly without my glasses. But I think they would look sensational on you.
Oh me, oh my…I just have to try (them all) 🙂 I’m loving Constellation and Satellite! I would wear them on the center of my lid on top of a matte eyeshadow. XoXo
Light Year in particular is really gorgeous but it’s a real shame about the packaging.
I’m not real big on sparklers, they look pretty messy. I would wear them for times I want a sparkly look.
I think they are very pretty and I have worn a few of mine now. However I am recommending to wait until they have a sifter since they make such a mess. I’ve worn them over a few sticky bases and any type of glitter adhesive has worked well, so I like the product, just not the packaging.
I agree with you, they need a sifter! The product itself is gorgeous.
These are really pretty. I’m glad to see MUG revised the descriptions to show people do need a sticky base, and that these are messy without the sifters. I know sifters are on the way, but I really think MUG should have delayed release until they had all their packaging available. I hope they’ll be sending out free sifters to whoever has already bought. Their original inaccurate claims, “forgetting” to put the swatch footage in their video, and this whole packaging fiasco has left a bad taste in my mouth. Hopefully, this will be an isolated incident for MUG.
Definitely having my eye on Lightyear and Satellite, but that spillage is annoying. If I end up getting them, I will definitely wait until they have the sifter. Your swatches are amazing though! Always very true to colour and reliable.
Just seeing the fallout on the jars’ lids is bothering me. I feel like package design is especially important with loose products, pigments and glitters. These are pretty, but I don’t see anything unique enough to justify the mess or make me choose these over any of the other awesome indies you’ve featured. Thanks for the swatches!
You’re welcome! I’m honestly in love with Milky Way, Satellite and Nebula because they’re beautiful for layering on top of things. These have way more sparkle than your average eyeshadow, which is why they are great as the accent on the center of the lid.
I definitely have a few favorites here. TFS!
You’re welcome Heather!
They’re very pretty but I don’t know how much use I would get out of them. Would to too faced glitter glue work with them?
I think Too Faced Glitter Glue would work, I just don’t own it to try it. It’s made for working with glitter.
