MAC’s Brunette, Blonde and Redhead Mini Haul
So I finally got to see MAC’s Brunette Blonde & Redhead collection tonight in person and I was a bit disappointed. Right up until I left to go to the mall I was still excited about it, despite reading some of the neutral or negative reviews.
I loved Flip, I liked French Cuff, but not enough to buy it, and the rest of the eye shadows were eh to me. Some of them, like 100 Strokes, were very chalky. I’m spoiled by my mineral makeup because if something is chalky, I just won’t buy it or use it. With Aromaleigh I can find just about any color I can think of in a very easy-to-blend formula, so why buy a chalky, hard-to-work-with shade?
I tried on Chignon, which looked awesome on my skin, but when I put it on my lips it lost a lot of its subtle nuances and looked like CoverGirl’s TruShine in Cherry Shine on my lips. Since I already own thatt, I decided against buying it. I wish it looked on my lips the way it looked on my arm. The rest of the lipsticks didn’t really appeal to me.
I loved Quick Tease and I snapped that up! Strawberry Blonde looked great on my skin and ok on my lips, but it wasn’t enough for me to buy it. I still may go back and get it later, but I didn’t feel like OMG I need this!
The MSFs were pretty but again, I didn’t feel like OMG I must have this.
I ended up purchasing only Flip and Quick Tease from the Brunette Blonde and Redhead collection. I also picked up Coppering to go with Flip. I’d looked at Coppering a few times before now, but when I asked the MA what she would suggest to pair up with flip and she tried this, I knew it was a color I needed.
Shade Descriptions
Flip – bronze gold
Coppering – hi-reflective orange copper
Quick Tease – red purple
I also swatched Nylon and Jest with these colors out of curiousity.
Nylon – pale gold with icy metallic shimmer
Jest – soft muted peach with icy shimmer
I think Nylon might pair up really nicely with Coppering and Fliip. Of course, I think my Aromaleigh color, Desire, might be nice too.
Considering how I was dying for this collection to come out (I ignored Chill and a few others because I thought that THIS would be the one I’d really be all over), I’m a bit disappointed that there weren’t more things that I felt I needed. On the other hand, it’s much better for my wallet in this economy, and this means I’ll probably pick up a thing or two from the Hello Kitty release. I still may go back and pick up Strawberry Blonde too.

Yeah that’s a CRAZY amount for powder! I think the entire couture part of the release is supposed to be very expensive. I’m not sure how well it will sell, but I’m sure we’ll hear about it.

I will check out Flip (cute name lol). I’m not sure about HK yet. Part of me really wants the Kitty Couture powder, but it’s $90. That seems a bit crazy. Maybe a blush and a beauty powder instead!

Everyone I know raved about the blonde MSF. Brunette is definitely dark (if you go to musingsofamuse.com blog she tested it there and it’s very dark), and redhead was pretty, but I just didn’t think I really needed it.
lol, I have a TON of lippies but I never have enough. Quick Tease is a shade I’ve been looking to find for a while, so I’m really happy with it.

I still may go back and pick up the Strawberry Blonde lipglass, but I think I’m definitely getting the pink glitter eyeliner from Hello Kitty 🙂

It hasn’t reached Denmark yet, so I haven’t seen it in person. I’m considering picking up Blonde MSF. Brunette will be too dark for me, and Redhead looks very dupable. None of the shadows call out to me, and I have way too many lippies already.
I’m also thinking about getting some of the Hello Kitty stuff.
